I havent read or watched hxh so I cant give you any personal recommendations but I figure it's going to be similar like the ones above anyway.

not really the same type of genre as hunterxhunter but haikyuu is really good. it has good progression and character development etc. I dont really watch sports anime and haikyuu is the only one but it makes me want to possibly watch more.

Jojo is good. I always felt like it exists somewhat outside of standard shounen battle conventions. While it certainly follows the formula of “buff-ass main dude beats up a bunch of people on the way to beating up the main villain”. I think it’s approach to the way it escalates power and how it handles non standard battles is novel.

Actually, I do not really think that there is a really similar series to the Hunter × Hunter. At the beginning I did not really enjoy it, however after a couple of series I understood that it is actually really awesome. Haikyuu is also good, however it is not that even close to HunterxHunter. Actually, almost everything out of this series is different compared to any other anime. That is what makes it so great and so special. Actually, after watching it, I got me thinking a lot about the waifu feature, and recently I found the https://waifuforlaifu.com/. I was actually surprised to find such a thing, it is rather great actually.
