Oh man I finally noticed that episode one was out...watched it...and died with joy/laughter

And there I was, thinking that Bakemonogatari was the most random thing ever.

Bakemonogatari is the weirdest anime you know of? Haven't you watched fooly cooly or evangelion?
0
NGE is weird from completely different reasons imo.

...NOT for the Fainthearted!

...has driven me to try this series.

*le gasp

I do have time to creep into this thread!

Well...not really, but I should go back to writing papers.

Anywho, love this series. Might be my favorite SHAFT series, depending on how it goes.

(PS: I probably won't have the time to respond again, so PM me if you want my other contact info and we can chat about anime whenever.)

" Koko no hito tachi mina DENPA DA!!! "

My favorite anime of the spring season considering it is the only one of its peers that I’ve seen thus far.

Some spoiler tidbits for the few who believes—not like you can help it.

Nino has pink hair?! I have yet to see a Venusian in person so if I do, I’ll make sure the first thing that I ask him/her/it is whether if it’s true that their race can change hair colors at will, and whether if they are vegetarians, fishietarians, eats people or whatnot in tenth’s of a second next.

Btw, the title of the OP is Venus to Jesus—loosely referring to Hikaru’s other work, Saint Young Men. So read it or not, religious they come!

I have nothing much to say about the ED caps aside from the obvious; Sister being GAR, Star being a Star, Chief being a Kappa, and Nino being a blond Mona Lisa Venusian.

Episode 2...

Hm, that much spoiling should be good enough.

Nah, I'd rather your suffer now than be miserable later. Though I'd really love to chat with you, I wouldn't give you an excuse not to keep on writing those papers till they're all over. lol

I really miss Gintama. Watching every single one of its 201 episodes was so refreshing it feels like taking a cold evening shower and a mouthful of brainwash. … Blah, blah, blah…bottom line is, nothing beats SUNRISE in terms of being cheap, or so I thought; SHAFT has outdone not only themselves this time—either by exhausting most of their budget just to get Maaya Sakamoto aboard this carriage(onto their train of unfinished projects) or it figures, once again proving me wrong, that they are actually the cheapest. Now, now, I’m not ranting here and neither am I comparing anything. All I’m saying is while SUNRISE is prepping for the upcoming Gintama movie, it sure is a good thing to have AUB filling in the void on our TV/PC screens. On the same note, I wouldn’t have AUB's VA cast any other way, regardless of however-different-it-might-have-been-if--. It’s always better to have Maaya Sakamoto co-star in an anime series with cheap animation than have all butt Hiroshi Kamiya star in an anime series with cheap animation.

Oh, and take note: gayg-oriented series, such as Gintama and AUB, thrive on its eccentric characters and the interaction that naturally follows them. The gag(s) itself, and its delivery, though most essential, are pretty much only secondary due to the viewers' otherwise nature of expectancy—wherein the gags' pregnancy effectiveness, in fact, depends on the situation the characters themselves set/built upon.

With that said, Hermit’s first & 4most reasons for watching AUB are:
1.) It’s Arakawa Under the Bridge—a ridiculously hilarious series with hilariously insane characters.
2.) The cast of VAs, primarily Maaya Sakamoto, including Hiroshi Kamiya, Takehito Koyasu, Rie Tanaka, Rikiya Koyama, Tomokazu Sugita, Miyuki Sawashiro, etc etc.
3.) Hikaru Nakamura, the author, is pretty and I admire a pretty lady with a vividly outrageous imagination.
4.) Because I’m a miserable person hermit.

tl;dr(?) I should have just posted the link to my secret working space, but if I did, it sure would no longer be a secret now, would it?

I know... i was hoping you wouldn't pick up on that... but i couldn't think of anything in this genre besides fooly cooly and bakemonogatari... and i had already started typing when i realized you were right so i just threw in Eva. because i was lazy and the ending was fucked up.

There's a second anime i could have mentioned where a certain otaku-like character is forced to question reality ... it involved girls who had massive swords. (i obviously can't remember the name)

And i wonder if NHK could be considered as well...

I'm in love with the OP music, and the OP it's self, I'm starting to like this anime..

I liked the first episode's charm and enjoyed learning the premise for the show. The second episode was fairly good as well, but I have to wait until atleast the third episode to figure out if it is really any good.

That said: I fear this anime is going to be ignored by the masses when it is actually looking like it is going to be pretty good.

It seems very popular to me, i wouldn't put it past this anime to become legendary.

The OP and ED animation are the best couple of things I've seen yet from SHAFT and I'm not just saying that now because it is their latest work; I mean it. Thanks to them, I feel like watching Oh! Edo Rocket all over again.

"Mission Complete."

"Omae no Ai wa homono ka?"

I've gotten past the first stage of dealing with a SHAFT production which makes it the time then, I guess, to move on to the second--the changes/deviation from the original source.

So basically, I'm pretty much still a happy camper; nothing much to rant about with just 6 pages of source material left in gray. (Rant rant rant rant rant rant ... and rants a bit more on a few other things!) I sure wanted Sister to get introduced this early--I got just that, plus they did make amends by finishing the episode with a scare. (Watch your back Riku, watch your back...)

Also, I didn't expect SHAFT would make a cold opening out of it, if not for later. I mean, the material that was used for the cold OP rather came from the second volume so what happened to the one from the first?

I wonder how many more pages and chapters will fall into the depths of oblivion, considering SHAFT may want to keep on introducing the rest of the entire cast of characters in a jiffy. And since P-ko and Stella's introductions are not until midway of the second volume, with Maria even later, it worries me that some of my favorites, and there's a lot of them, might not make the cut such as Riku vs Hoshi Round 1--In the Blistering Cold and the lost baby.

Sorry, I eat AUB raw. Furthermore, doing so—giving a damn about fansubs is just troublesome nowadays. But really, if you’re not in that much of a hurry to watch it like me, Nutbladder should do the trick. If I’m not mistaken, I believe they’ve already released the second episode. So yeah, I also watch theirs.

She's right you know, that is if she was referring to the masses here at fakku.

So neko, how's this for romance? How's 'I saved your life--wanna repay me--love me' as a ground for starting a relationship?

Haaaa~all the weirdness of the series is getting me hooked.
Spoiler:
Girl from Venus?Guy in Kapa Costume?Nun(its a man) w/ a GUN?Guys w/ star face?Boys w/ metal faces?Guys who forever plays walk on the lines?

pure win of weirdness XD.

I've seen worst. There is this one anime where I swear the guy fell in love with the girl just because she was a ghost. I am of course talking about [size=6]Durarara[/h] Natsu no Arashi

You're thinking that Nino is thinking if †˜butter’flies would be tasty, aren’t you?

Well, you thought nasty but apparently, either was I.

Do butterflies taste like butter?
