The mysterious golden cities or whatever you call it.

Yeah I count it as anime.

I was hooked on that as a kid.

I guess I went more seriously into anime after watching Vandread (a mecha anime set in space)

I guess parts of my innocence died while watching Vandread, I recall it was Ecchi as hell.

I guess back in the 90s, wow starting to feel old....I saw Dragon Ball and started liking it and then some Pokemon. Really my anime loving took off more in high school since by then internet connections got fast so could watch it online and read the manga.

Definitely the Dragonball series. Sailor Moon also helped but it was mostly the Dragonball series that opened the doors for me.

Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and Macross... Which the US hacked up and created Robotech.

Like most people, I remember watching a handful of anime on TV as a child without knowing it was "anime" (Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, etc). I later found out about Toonami and watched plenty of shows there; Inuyasha, YuYu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, and so on. I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting, but Inuyasha is easily the one that had the biggest impact on me as a kid, but I still didn't distinguish it as anime at the time.

However, I recently got much more interested in anime (back in Oct-Nov, I believe) after watching Angel Beats!, so I guess you can say that that was the one to do it for me.

Yu-Gi-Oh, Black Jack and Conan, I thoroughly enjoyed Conan and watching Black Jack made me want to become a Doctor and earn millions, hahaha!

While i did watch pokemon, sailor moon & Dragon ball as a kid, I never really "paid attention" to it. Never sat there wanting to see the next episode, or got all fanboy mode.
It wasnt until my 8th grade year, the first anime that actually got into anime was both Samurai Champloo and Eureka 7. I remember watching them and getting excited when the next episode would come out (Samurai Champloo). Then I discovered I could watch them on youtube back when youtube wasnt so strict on copy rights. One of the links was to Eureka 7. So I watched both of those anime every saturday night when my parents would let me have free time on the pc. Such good memories ^_^

The first one I watched technically was My Neighbor Totoro. The one that absolutely got me into anime was Trigun, though.

has to be Dragonball Z and Outlaw Star... although Gundam wing may have come before Outlaw Star... either way those 3 are what made me look into it more.
