Why does everyone have such awesome parents in this manga?I doubt the average high school student's parents own guns/spears/swords and work (or used to work) for the police/ the military/gangs.
I've never thought about that... I don't remember any of their parents being average (Kohta's, Saeko's, and Shizuka's were never revealed though).
If I recall right,
Kohta's parents are not living with him now. His mother is a famous fashion designer, while his father is a Captain of a Cruise ship(?), and he also mentioned that his grandfather was a great person too.
Saeko. Only her father was mentioned by Takagi's dad, and he said he was a great swordsman. (?)
Both of Shizukas parent have already died before the main story.
Oh... I forgot but when does it mention Shizuka's parents?

I'm kinda pissed that Takshi's going back to the Rei route. If you notice, Before Saeko says that she'll take the lead, There's like 2 whole frames Just on her looking at takashi and Rei. My guess is that hse'd take the lead wasn't just for the reasons she specifies. Though I've got to wonder, does anyone else get the feeling that Saeko is going to die? I mean, she's my fav character, and I'd be sooo pissed if it happened, but I cant shake the feeling that she's going to pull a heroic sacrifice at some point. -Random theory- You notice that gun that she got from Hirano? If anyone else is a troper, Then they'll know what I mean when I think that Saeko's gun Will be a "Chekhov's gun". My guess is that at some point When Rei and Takashi get together, She'll loose her composure and end up being bitten. Que sappy "We can save you Saeko" speech from Takashi, crocodile tears from Rei and Saeko either: A) accepting it and telling Takashi how she feels/ says its not his fault, or B) Finally breaks down and goes insane So that the group will leave her, but not before She verbally beats down Takashi and Rei. Que existential moment of descovery with flashbacks. Que Saeko smiling serenely as she closes her eyes. Que Saeko saying something heartfelt or badass as page goes white. Cut to sound of gunshot. Cut to Takashi Blaming himself for what's happened.

Read it and sounds plausible but for my original vision I believed that all but the kid, Shizuka, and maybe Rei would live. Takagi would die with Hirano, Saeko sacrifices herself, Takashi makes the final sacrifice to let them get off on a boat into the sea as he was bitten at the last moment. I was thinking more of realistic Classic Zombie ending as this is what this series is going for, classic movie zombie stories. Though I have recently noticed that Inazuma tends to keep things lighthearted even when there is a darker story behind, so I can still see this ending with a happily ever after. But overall, I don't think Takashi and Saeko really have a relationship going on, it just doesn't feel like that serious.

I honestly wish for a just a happy ending with the crew all alive. I'm actually bored of sacrifice endings in Zombie stories.

@ Tsujoi, what the hell is batman doing at Jeopardy? I hope the manga doesn't end that way. Though I do think that this chapter was mere filler. I really want to know how the outbreak started.
@ Beelzebub, We need Shizuka hentai now. So far it's been mainly Saeko in the H-limelight.

For those of you who don't know, full colour editions of the High School of the Dead manga has been released! There are currently 4 volumes. I saw them at the local manga store, but they are extremely expensive.
I am tempted to purchase the full colour editions, but I am hoping to hear from other Fakku fans or at least have a preview of how the pages look like.

well,the size is A4 book but with more content like the art that's not in the original manga.examples like the chara introduction page,some art that related to the story,and of course my favorite part is the "list of weapon" pages in vol 3.for example:just imagine Saeko wearing a purple maid clothing while holding Springfield M1A1 and saya takagi wearing a pink bunny girl clothes while holding CZE Vz83 in her hand and holding Browning M1910 between her cleavage.
it's true it's just full colored manga but it's definitely worth to own it.and...i don't know if it's possible overseas but if you buy the whole volume in one purchase,you'll get a limited Saeko's figure (only available till May 31st).
@kenji one vol cost me 1900yen so all of them cost me 7600yen(around US$760-780).i bought it separately so i didn't get the figure.

the colors are well put so it's worth to own.
