The author has made a point of revisiting every character (at least those I remember) that has appeared since the start. Hopefully this will bode well for Elsie's sister.

We all know that he treats reality as nothing more than a crappy game. Specially when he started conquering girls. He used the same game logic to obtain those "endings" and it worked just fine. He wasn't acting cool, he's just moving along he's daily routine of playing games. Playing a crappy game "Conquering girls in real life".

But unlike his games, real life doesn't end when you obtain the "endings". I guess he finally realized that this isn't a game and that he was just playing around with people's emotions. Because of that he became more conscious of his actions and started limiting his options.

Especially considering that Wakaki has seemed to have been intentionally ignoring Elsie as much as he possibly can and only using her when the plot calls for it; making her the personification of a plot device. Actually, after putting it that way I suppose I'm not really surprised after all.
