What Gundam series would you recommend?

Well with all this new found glory of gundams and mechs on the forums I've decided to try it out. So my question is as the title says, "What series of Gundam would you recommend to get someone to keep watching Gundam?"

Gundam Wing is a great start off. It pretty much gives you a balanced sample of what you would expect out of the franchise, with a ton of action to keep you enthralled.
If you're looking for that shounen feel then I suggest Gundam 0083: Stardust memory.
If you want a magnificent tragedy, I suggest Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket.
If you're looking for that shounen feel then I suggest Gundam 0083: Stardust memory.

Anyway, I would recommend SEED. I doubt anyone just getting into Gundam could stomach the old animation of the original, and Wing is also getting up there in years. Gundam 00 is a strange beast, people don't seem to like the political drama that's in most of season 1, and they don't like how all those well-built politics get shot to hell later on. I hesitate to recommend something like 0080 or 8th MS Team because they are not really representative of how Gundam tends to play out. However, if they wanted to see a short Gundam series as a starting point, then I'd recommend 8th MS Team.

Gundam Wing is by far superior to every other gundam series I have seen. They manage to balance them any aspects of the story(political, military, fighting) very well, and while most episodes contain some good action, it never feels like a battle thrown in for the sake of a fight scene, like in G Gundam. The political aspect of Gundam Wing is also very good.

O can find at least 1 reason to watch all the Gundam shows, and enjoy them. (Anything with Zeon FTW! :lol: )

Gundam series that are fun to watch for the anime fan....
G Gundam: Has nothing to do with just about any other Gundam series. It'smore like a Capcom-style fighting game anime where the giant robots happen to resemble Gundams. So it stands on its own merits.
Mobile Suit Gundam Movies: The condensed version of the original TV series, done as a 3-part movie series. Even though the animation is seriously dated, you can still see how the show was so different for its time, and took into account things not tried before in SF anime.
Zeta Gundam: This is the first sequel to the original series, done 7 years later. Wow, what a difference! B) This is the series that made me a Gundam fan, with great action, characters, and a vicious indifference to fan sympathies regarding character fates.
Gundam: Char's Counterattack: Wraps up the main protagonist & antagonist story of the original Universal Century storyline. Great animation, and a nice way to go out with a bang.
Gundam SEED: This is the first Gundam series of the 21st century, and it is a good 'un. Everything old is new again, but not too new, and the story hews tho the Gundam principles of heroic angst, villainous smugness, cool action, and hideous collateral damage. B)
Gundam OO: This is probably the most original non-UC Gundam story yet. All the story elements seem to balance nicely, the fan service meets just about everybody's standards, and the MS designs are actually different from the usual assortment. I am definitely looking forward to Season 2 this autumn!

Gundam 0079 : it's the first Gundam story. you will know the history of Zeon and their hatred towards Earth Federation. this is the best start if you want to see Gundam.
Gundam 0080 : this not considered as a war,the storyline tells you about the sadness in war. you will find out,not all Zeon's people are evil and not all Earth Federation's people are good
Gundam 0083 : epic story. the remaining of Zeon troops called Delaz Fleet make their move to execute the Stardust Operation. this is the good start if you want to see Z Gundam.
Z Gundam : another earth rebellion group named Titans make their move. the enemy is not Zeon anymore,but a group of cruel people who wants to makes a war,once again..
Char's Counterattack : Char is back! he resurrect the Zeon with the name,Neo Zeon. this will be the last battle between Amuro and Char. their fighting shall be over..
V Gundam : this is the most bloody battle in Gundam Era. the people which Usso keeps are all dying. all Mobile Suit in this story are destroyed. leaving anything but a millions of corpse..
the Novel :
Hathaway's Flash : it's hard to get this novel. Hathaway Noah,son of Bright Noah,joined the terrorist group called Mafty. he feels sad because his beloved person,Quess Paraya is dead. because of it,he lose his sanity and revenged her death by attacking the Earth Federation.
i feels sympathy for Hathaway.. love has blinded him. in the end,his own father executed him without knowing that the person was his son..
