Someone is conspiring to kill me...... I have a lot but i guess i should choose the one that hook me up with anime..... It would be Rave(or Rave Masters in some part of the world) Then Vandread and Shakugan no Shana ties for second and come very close for 1st

Oh gods, I have to choose? Well, I do love CLAMP and all, and there are a whole bunch I love, but I guess I'm going to go with sola right now. It's a pity not many people know about it, probably cause Haruhi just steamrolled over everything else in the overseas otaku community. It is much better than Haruhi, especially if you can appreciate that it is a mixed media project.

For those Haruhi-ists out there who want to kill me right, it's not just me, it's everyone who voted in the TV Asahi poll. sola destroyed Haruhi with at least twice as many votes for the best anime that year, so there. Go watch it now. DO IT FAGGOTS.

Such a difficult choice.....

I suppose I'd choose Hellsing Ultimate as Hellsing is my favorite manga.

I never have a single favorite anime. Its always changing. Right now, I think its Neon Genesis Evangelion because I'm starting to reintroduce myself with all the spiritual, psychological, and philosophical elements of it.

watch the last three episode of the original series really scares and fucks up my head.

love, what is love, hate, what is hate, who do you hate, why do you hate.

man, i don't get the meaning of this, really ain't got that special artistic point of view.

the movie was way better though, gotta love the last scene, where shinji tries to choke asuka and then starts crying after asuka gently touches his face. the last words are a classic, asuka says "Disgusting"

though i never really got what that actually meant

The ending to the series and End of Evangelion go hand in hand. The movie shows what's going on during Instrumentality in the physical world and the end of the series shows what is going on in Shinji's head at the time. Since Shinji is naturally a wreck emotionally, he's struggling to figure out whether he should accept or reject Instumentality.

Instrumentality was meant to allow mankind to artificially transcend the perception of self. In the end, well this is my interpretation, Shinji wasn't able to comprehend an existence devoid of individuality. He acts as a metaphor for the greater part of mankind which has yet to reach a point in the evolutionary path of consciousness where existence doesn't rely on individuality. As Yui and Rei explain to him, others retain the possibility of restoring their individuality. Its not so much artistic as it is existential. Regardless of interpretation, it reflects the inner struggle everyone has at one point or another with finding the reality and significance of their own existence.

Asuka's last line is supposed to be left up to interpretation. This quote from Yuko Miyamura, Asuka's seiyuu is what she had to say about it:
Concerning the final line we adopted, I'm not sure whether I should say about it in fact. At last Anno asked me "Miyamura, just imagine you are sleeping in your bed and a stranger sneaks into your room. He can rape you anytime as you are asleep but he doesn't. Instead, he masturbates looking at you, when you wake up and know what he did to you. What do you think you would say?" I had been thinking he was a strange man, but at that moment I felt disgusting. So I told him that I thought "Disgusting." And then he sighed and said, "I thought as much."

Half right, half wrong. Mankind can concive of a exsitance that is collective, the only problem is that i5t costs to much. It isn't a reality Shinji, Yui or anyone really would want. There is no happniess there. Mankind only thought it wantyed it to escape from reality. Hence why at the end of the evoultionary scale it leads to death. And why Karowu explains that individuality makes a river in between mankind's hearts. But that if we work hard enough Love can overcome that barrier, but allow as to continue on as ourselves without having having to give up our selves to fill that gap.

Your dead on about everything else though.

I would have to say that my favorite anime of all time was Elfen Lied. It is a shame that it was so short though.

You'd think otherwise after reading the manga.

Evangelion. No doubt. I've seen it far too many times and every time I find something different to think about. Watching it again now. :D

DONT START THIS SHIT AGAIN JESUS. i think your on the ball but they havent even completed the series yet as you probably know by now. all of these theoretical statements could be completely turned inside out as soon as the new movies come out, so untill then its just that; theoretical. i know that individuality had something to do with it, after all it was those who retained an image of themselves who were extracted from the lcl or 'life pool' and given a second chance at life. but maybe theres something left untold we cant comprehend? its left up for debate, but not here.

at one time it was cowboy bebop, then it was mushi shi, now its gurren lagann... but its always changing. like the boss says, 'the times interpret where we go and what we do.'

Even though Code Geass gave us Kallen, C.C. and Villetta, I can't give my opinion on that anime just yet because it hasn't ended. Overall, my favorite anime is Gurren Lagann.

I think it will have to be Evangelion. though there are a lot of close competitors.

Eureka Seven. I felt it was very strong overall, from music to plot to characters to animation.

NGE was and is completed, and will still be completed after they added more to it. And the philosophies behind NGE was completed way before us, but that still means we can add more to them aswell.

I don't have one, but if I did, it'd definitely be Evangelion. However, I'll just go by category:

-Action: Gurren Lagann
-Adventure: Uninhabited Planet Survive
-Comedy: Battle Programmer Shirase
-Drama: Berserk
-Ecchi: Kanokon (Replaced Girls Bravo)
-Mecha: Evangelion
-Mystery: Higurashi no naku koro ni
-Romance: True Tears
-Scifi: Gantz
-Slice of life: Bokura ga ita
-Suspense: Death Note
-Thriller: Elfen Lied

For current favorites I'd have to say either Kaiba, because it's just such a trip to watch, or maybe Kure-nai because of the characters.

For overall, I dunno, I have a few, would be hard to just pick one, especially since I watch so many different genre's of anime.

It's probably between (because of the varied genre's) Bokura ga Ita, Seirei no Moribito, Mushi-shi, Aria, Ghost Hound, and Kanon 2006.
