me and a friend had an argument a mont ago about manga and anime. he said anime is beter than manga.i personally think it varies from show to show example tenjho tenge is better in the manga because it has nudity and fan service unlike the anime which cuts out all the good parts.but in a show like one piece there isnt really much of a diffrence because one piece has barely any nudity or cursing. i can definitley say fight scenes can be GOOD in anime but sometimes its a little too flashy and disrupts the feel for the show.or anime makes the fights boring like Bleach in the manga the fights are great and blody, take the fight between nnoitora and zaraki kenpachi, kenpachi rips nnoitoras arms off in that fight but in the anime thewy probably edit this out for violence.in conclusion I think manga depicts the shows in the way they werent meant to be shown.( stares at overflow's school days)

depends, manga gets you more into it, but it's no fun without the music and the actual sound effects

but then again, the storyline is obviously told better by manga than anime

and anime does have color to them

so it's very hard to decide whether each is better than the other, often it all comes down to peoples' preferences, some just like to read, some just like to watch,
for different series, i prefer different choices, i like to read manga on Bleach Naruto rather than watch the anime, but i do love to watch anime on Soul eater or Deathnote for instance

I'll agree with Nate River here, though I am more inclined to like manga more due to a fully developed story compared the restrictions placed on anime.

If there's a series I like in manga, I try to watch the anime. If I like the anime, I see no point in getting manga, especially when manga scanlations are never reliable.

I have a personal preference for manga.

My view on manga:
-They tend to be more original of the two. More often than not, anime series are adapted from their manga counterparts, though there are a few instances in which the opposite has occurred.
-Provides continuation if the anime ends abruptly
-Is usually the "true" storyline
-May sometimes be more explicit than the anime aired in Japan, though DVDs these days tend to be uncensored

My view on anime:
-Colour is one big plus
-May diverge from the original storyline featured in the manga
-Fillers may irritate some viewers
-Voices and music add to the pleasure of viewing

It really is a personal preference, though people who read/watched one thing hear that either the anime/manga is better, then they'll gravitate towards that.

For example, all of Ken Akamatsu's works, such as Love Hina and Negima!, are great in manga form, but absolutely sucks in anime form. Same thing goes for Black Cat and Flame of Recca - Gonzo f*cked Black cat and the Flame of Recca anime doesn't conclude like the manga series does.

On the other side, I would watch Neon Genesis Evangelion rather than read all that manga side-crap, especially since the manga spawned from the anime.

My answer would be whatever the original format is, with some exceptions of course. If it started as a manga, then the manga is better. If it started as an anime, then the anime is better.

Both have it's advantages and disadvantages...

Anime
Advantages:
moving with voice overs and sound effects
great opening and ending songs
superb and lively colorings
Disadvatages:
24 mins isn't enough to cover the whole chapter of a manga
some events become different for manga based anime
file size is very large ^_^

Manga
Advantages:
more updated than anime (specially naruto and bleach)
all events are detailed and given importance
file size is small ^_^ I can have a lot of doujinshi in a 170mb file size :P
Disadvantages:
sometime hard to read
usually black and white
no opening, ending and background music...

storywise / plotwise I prefer the manga since they have room to go into detail unlike the anime version, which tends to leave things out, of course for something like a fight scene, the animated version would be better

also cant agree with this, in naruto and bleach i could agree with you,but a show like tenjho tenge has bloody scenes that arent shon in anime hence fight between maya and true demon, where maya kills the true demon violently.and the part where mataza a son of an ecorcist family violent sodomizes a village woman in his rv ( though id hate to see that animated )
Edit:oh and lets not forget that manga offers excellent fan service while anime only covers nipple with clouds!

Kaimax Best Master-San
Like all the others, manga and anime have both it's advantages and disadvantages.

Just imagine reading BECK, a music themed manga, without the music, sounds dull, eh?

depends on what series though but most of the time i prefer manga over anime.

I actually like the Bleach fillers. They might not have any relevance, the current arc more so than the others, but they're pretty entertaining. I'll admit some shows' fillers are just plain irritating, but for others I really don't mind them.

anyways it's still great to know that there are people who like it

I watch Bleach for the entertainment factor. You don't have to be thinking sexual thoughts for every female character. Its too early to tell, but it seems as if the whole situation with Lurichiyo is leading up to something big. As for Kenryu's zanpakuto, its obviously some kind of comic relief element.

I'm not sure what you mean by random situations popping up.

i dunno. the moment i saw yuroichi both on manga and anime nothing else cam to mind other than sexual thoughts.

The original is always best, no exceptions. Though I will usually start by watching the anime, if it's been adopted from an anime and I come to like the series, I start reading the manga when the anime is over. There's nothing better than to find out an anime you like has been adopted from an ongoing manga :D

This topic is messed up pitting Manga agaist Anime. You shouldn't have to choose between them! I can't do it!
