I use my iPad as a viewing Device and have the following problems

- sometimes the red bars won't disappear
- I can't select any options in the preference menu (well at least it won't accept them)
- sometimes I can't switch page by simply touching on either side of the screen and have to bring up the red bars to switch page

Yo, E-hentai just ripped the book Jake! What the hell is up with that, I know they're not very better than what they already are but isn't that kinda a dick move?

Yes, it's a dick move for sure, but not an unexpected one, especially since the downloads don't have any DRM. (And it would likely get pirated anyway if they did, so better just not have any to ensure the best experience for legit customers.)

What was unexpected and not cool at all though is that the uploader removed the credits page from the book. Seriously, if you were to illegally distribute something, the least you should do is have the decency to leave the credits in for the work being distributed.

Your post (and this response) should really go to the Renai Sample thread, though, as the matter at hand is not a reader-related issue.

Just gave chrome for android a spin. Works fine. *yay* Forgot to say running latest android build too.

Still, dolphin is my main browser and I'd rather not switch browsers entirely just for one site. But for now I can certainly use chrome instead to read it online. Hopefully I'll be able to run the site's new reader from dolphin too someday. Still, thanks for the suggestion! Now to enjoy the book!

Dolphin seems to be using Webkit as its browser engine, so I'm going to give it a look at some point to see if the problem is just something silly. However, if the issue runs deeper in the sense that Dolphin is lacking in some important HTML5 capabilities that the reader needs, then supporting it will not really be possible. But I promise to look into it and post updates when it becomes relevant.

Bug.

System: Surface Pro Windows 8.1 Pro
Browser: Chrome
Navigation Method: Touch

It seems to read an extra tap.

Tapping right side moves forward two pages.
Tapping center moves forward one page and brings up the menu.
Tapping on the left side causes a flicker and stays on the same page. Assumed back a page then forward.

Works fine in IE.

I suspect this is caused by the touch firing both touch and mouse events. A similar problem seems to exist on iOS, so it's definitely something that needs to be fixed.

[color=#993300]Running on iOS and seems to work just fine sake for two things. One I can't hide the GUI, which obstructs reading and two, fit to height doesn't work

As for your other desktop issue, that does seem like a bug, but I can't reproduce it here. The only time I've seen weird scaling like that is when the reader loads with the browser minimized / in the background in Firefox... Out of interest, are you running Windows with a higher-than-normal UI scaling?

No, default scaling.

Is there a way we can select certain pages in the on-line book? Say I want to jump to the 156 page? Will be great if I can type the page number and see it right away :)

The next notable update should add in a chapter menu that will allow you to jump directly to whatever chapter you want. Direct jumping to a page number might come into play later.

The reason the page scaling options "don't work" is because the reader currently has forced "fit to width if overwidth" enabled, as mentioned in the opening post. This will be made into its own option soon enough. This way you should be able to use the X% Original Size scaling options (which will also be made more comprehensive in the future). Native zooming is unlikely to happen since it would scale the UI as well. If only you could set elements as "non-scaling" for web-apps, things would be so much better...

I'll just download it then and not use the online viewer. There's no point in disabling native zoom. It's an accessibility problem, and Apple nor anyone else should even have it as an option. The UI should zoom with the content when using native zoom. That's the entire point. Not everyone can see things at normal sizes. This is why all web browsers today -- mobile or PC -- have zooming facilities. Even if everything else in the viewer actually worked not being able to pinch to zoom in further is a problem.

Don't get me wrong, while native zooming might not happen, pinch to zoom can still be worked in eventually, it just wouldn't scale the interface. By the way, the interface size itself is based on your browser's default font size, which means that if you have a hard time reading things at default size regularly you could always bump it up. All browsers should have a setting for this.

When trying to hide the UI on mobile, it kinda goes away but comes back half a second later. I wouldn't mind it if it didn't obstruct my reading. Maybe lower the opacity? As for viewing on the computer, it was pretty smooth sailing. Everything worked the way it should for me.

Edit: Found a new bug on mobile where If you turn the device to try to read sideways, it just disappears. It does reappear when turning it back though.

Just another tiny bug, but the star at the bottom doesn't seem to recognize that Renai Sample is in my favorites already. Clicking on it to make it white will add the book to my favorites, and clicking on it again to make it empty will remove the book from my favorites.

I guess the orientation change isn't triggering resize events on your device. Guess I'll see if I can fix it. As for your first issue, if my suspicion is right then that should hopefully be fixed soon.

Yeah, there's an issue with the backend not returning proper favorite data at the moment. That's on Jacob.

I'm not sure if it's been addressed or brought forward yet, but a "go to ___ page" would be nice so that you don't have to click through the same pages you were reading before to get to where you'd like to go.

Other than that it's a swell little reader.

Alright, we've pushed some fixes that should make landscape mode work on iOS, and the UI should also hide properly there now.

While the reader doesn't have anything in the UI for this right now, you can always edit the URL (manga/renai-sample-english/page/X) to go to the page you want.
