Meh. the rep system is a bit of a joke anyway. many of the people with high rep got it for copy/paste random hentai pics. it also seems to encourage some to be bigger douches than they might be normaly just to get a high neg-rep.

People who care about rep like this idea.

People who don't care about rep are either neutral or don't like this idea.

Now that I take a good look at the suggested title, I find them as more of a joke than actual suggest titles, although the rep system has indeed became a bit of a joke.

Honestly, though, after the neg rep bombing I've been getting the past few days, I've stopped caring about getting rep anymore. It's not like having a high number really proves anything, or gives a reward of any real value. Not gonna stop me from helping whoever I can, though.

I think there is an ever growing number of Fakku users who are finding themselves indifferent, or even hate, the reputation system. I would like to think eventually we'll see permanent end to the worthless system. But at the very least, I doubt we'll see an increase in the popularity and usage of the reputation system and things involved with it.

Seems like a convoluted addition to something that already is worthless and a waste of time.

Lots of other things could use fixing/updating/adding, but this cosmetic change seems low priority in the grand scheme of the site's advancement.

If something like mote mote were to happen that would change quickly, new users are always the biggest fans of the reputation system, they believe it has real value. I don't believe the system will ever disappear again, unless users began to abuse it far more than last time the system was taken down, most likely Jacob would just re-initiate the 48 hour rule.

new users only think it is worth something because the majority of them are 12 and are naive to such fallacies.

Why not extend the waiting period for users without a status to 48 hours, and 36 to Elites?

Meh abusive towards trolls and IBers as total posts < real posts, bring up Mill's discussion on freedom of speech and liberty, although they cause the problem and perhaps are wrong, they must be allowed to give the idea or make the wrong. Not only that but newfags will probably rage as empirics prove that they love it so much .

How do you get reps, anyhow?

People give them to you if you do something that pleases them. That's pretty much it. Of course, you can't just give them out left and right. The person has to deserve it. That's in my opinion, anyway.

Or in his case, he needs to have 15 post count to start repping...

50 sounds like a better number though...

In that case, I have a better question: Why do people want it so much?
