Downtime

The downtime over the past 24 hours was due to a copyright dispute over Resort Boin 1, Resort Boin 2, and some DVD covers from the image section. We obviously have to comply with the take down, so we will no longer be hosting Resort Boin 1 and 2 directly on the site (and probably won't translate future episodes). But don't let that stop you from getting them elsewhere.

Being a business major it truly makes no sense that companies do things like this. DVD cover images? Honestly? If anything someone would see the DVD cover and want to go buy the DVD. It makes no sense.

That being said I want to highlight a company we work with that doesn't act retarded like so many others. And that company is of course, Icarus Publishing. I have bought many hentai books from them, and I encourage every one of you to do the same. We should all do a little to support the industry here in the United States. It will only result in good things for all of us. If you are interested (and you should be) they have just released a huge Yamatogawa book with over 200 pages that you can get for a mere $20 over at Amazon.

You can also find this book on Right Stuf.

I've noticed copyright crap recently on various websites.

For the first time, I second that image.

Oh well.. it's a loss alright, but it doesn't look as if it'll change Fakku completely and as we know it.[/h]

Seriously, WTF!? I'm just so freaking tired of all this nonsense legal crap... it is fucking everywhere!
Though, I really do hope that this is not the end of FAKKU subs.

For some reason I'm always feeling the strong urge to broaden my torrent list when I'm reading about such lame ass companies.

Well here's my take on it:

These companies are doing what they need to do in order to keep their licensing contracts with their Japanese counterparts. That's good and fine, and I respect that. The problem lies with how their trying to accomplish this. If they'd simply ask us to remove their content, then we'd do it with no problem. But raising a fuss about it is just plain stupid on their part. I don't blame the whole company for this mess, but I'm sure there's an individual we can place the blame on.

I'd hate to be the devil's advocate, but...

As it passed through anyone's head that POSSIBLY the people working for the company know what's best for their company and also how best to use their intellectual property?

I can understand why those companies don't want a fansubbed work of them floating around in the internet, but I can't understand how this could take FAKKU down for 24 hours. Did they attack the site? If this is the case, some more sites hosting those subbs should had been taken down till they all removed the subbs. And there will still be means to get your hands on it.

If I read precisely enough, you only will cease to subb Resort Boin episodes. It's a relief to read that other series probabely won't be inflicted by this fuss.

Well I can't really add anything that hasn't been said already so I'll just say BULLSHIT!

But that Yamatogawa book looks AMAZING. I'll definitely be picking this one up.

Every once in a rare while, I go a few days without Copyright Bullshit infringment waving its' nudity in front of my face. But those moments are few, fleeting and far between. The looseness of Copyright Infringment truly sickens me. Right now the people of America [along with other countries I imagine] are in the middle of a copyright revolution. Things are changing. Almost every house has a machine with internet. most have two or more. Forty percent of the Youth can rip any content they want and redistribute it. Revolutionary things like the Creative Commons Share Alike License are being developed. It is possible that a future without Copyrights to interfere with the Artists' ability to distrubute music for free or for idividuals to share what they desire is on the horizon, but only time will tell the tale. Suffice to say we are a long way from such things, and certain companies are certainly exercising the imperfect laws to do such things as call foul on what I consider promotion of a series. This site has done nothing wrong. Well, I guess I've said my piece. Forgive my wordiness. Later.

(Alexanderthenine tilts head back and laughs like the crazed lunatic from 'The Shining,' waking everyone in his apartment complex) I second that opinion.

You said it.
I remember reading about a gaming company that had very little anti-piracy for their games(the stuff never works anyways,) and would just 'ask' the websites hosting their game(s) to please take them down. Hah, and the thing is most of them did.

Funny how that works...

Well thanks for the update Jacob, I was wondering where the site went :(
