The sad thing is that there really isn't anything better to do in post-game besides breed for IVs and EVs.

Lack of shit to do post-game is why I normally put the game down once I've beaten it and never play it again. That was the case with Black and Black 2. At least until I decide to play again on another save.

Because fuck catching all the Pokémon and fuck breeding Pokemon for IVs I'm never going to use.

I only solo, because I hate grinding with a passion, and rush the games. It's also why I suck at ff series

IVs and EVs just go over my head and at most I worry only about genders of my pokemon so that the names I give them will match. Actually, I didn't even know about iv and ev until I learned about pokemmo last year.

...I'm not sure if you're being serious, but come on.

Wouldn't going solo require more grinding instead of having a diverse well rounded team that's under leveled?

Nope. Much much less grinding. Only one pokemon to level, so it gets all the exp. Gets to a higher level in all the gym battles on the way, whereas building a team requires much more grinding. Trust me. I've tried it the normal way, and it takes much longer and sucks dick.

Pokemon has never been a grind-heavy game(unless you're absolutely terrible) if you're playing the Single player only, and with only one pokemon you probably can't get through the game due to needing different HM's.

And in order to take out the Elite 4, you'd need a pokemon that's at least 10 levels higher than them and getting a level 60 -> 70 actually does requires more effort.

I think Platinum was the first one I sped through(14 or so hours to finish the main story), with no grinding(just beating up trainers in my way, and random pokemon encounters) and managed to beat the elite 4 with an under leveled team.

But if that system works for you, keep doing it. I genuinely like experimentation and creativity instead of just trying to overpower everything in the game. It makes it more enjoyable.

99% of the times someone on the forums bitches about negative reps and says something like, "I was trolling", I can't help feeling like they deserve neg reps since it matters enough for them complain about it.

Also I don't really want this place to become an even bigger circle jerk with that kind of system.

If it were up to me, I'd get rid of the rep system entirely.

Eh...I like the rep system when used as a "hey, thanks for x" or "y was pretty funny." It really doesn't serve any purpose though, especially now that users can rep multiple posts.

Eh, as long as you don't necrobump to let someone know that you appreciate/hate their input, there shouldn't be a problem. Although it's probably more convenient for those cases to just hit a button.
I personally don't have a problem with someone disagreeing with me/disapproving with something I say, without wanting to go into a pointless argument with me, so -neg reps don't bother me. It's just that they make this place feel like too much of a circle jerk.

But it's not really that much of a circle jerk; sure most of us know each other and talk on Skype but passed that the section itself is fairly free range. We fuck with each other all the time and sure when someone does something stupid they usually get shit on pretty fast but I've never personally seen any crazy bandwagon hate in here in the past few years. 99% of the time people deserve exactly what they get, the punishment might be a little bit harsh, but it keeps most of the retards out. I mean hell, I gave Koko a chance. so did Waar, and that was even when she had rubbed the majority of us the wrong way.

It can be a bit of a circle jerk at times, but it's not nearly as bad as your implications make it out to be.

I agree, but unfortunately the only time someone actually complains about getting -reps in this section is when a newfag wanders in here without lurking for a few days to see what's what and makes a fool of himself, which really doesn't happen all that often. Wish it would happen more often actually, it's fairly entertaining to see their reactions.

Aside though, I'm actually fairly amused that there might be some people here, lurkers or otherwise, who are stupid enough to give someone the satisfaction of letting them know they were offended by posts that are clearly made for just that purpose. Seems like it's getting pretty close to that time of the year gain.

As cool as that might sound I.B. is probably the only section that would benefit from it. Most regular users would just stop using the -rep button entirely because too large a portion don't actually have the balls to say they dislike something else another regular posted, it'd end up being another Facebook "like" copy.

It's honestly hard to explain, but I do get to the elite four at about level 50 with my main. I catch pokemon as I go, so I have fairly levelled backups. The other pokemon in the team are for revives/ heal subs, whilst I'm healing the main/ also for hm's and what not. It's a terrible system, but it means less grinding. Just a tonne of revives and a tonne of mega potions, hah.
I'm trying hard to balance it out in liquid crystal, but my god it's hard work (only cause I need to, because 3x harder gym leaders)
tried to do it normal and balanced once in y I think it was. Got bored, and dropped it. Haven't touched it since :s
But yeah, I usually avoid all random battles if I can, etc. Especially in rpg's like final fantasy. I get to the final boss in that stupidly underlevelled. Am at the final boss in ff7 (on ps1) at level 46 or something from memory. Am playing through now on the pc, and have boosted the hp stats on a couple of characters. mostly cause I'm playing for the story, and mostly for the fun factor. No stress, can play through the story, and enjoy. Then go back to the ps1 for srs. Have 6-10 on ps to play through properly at some stage

Played the game for the story. Did not enjoy X and Y as much as White 2 and Black 2. Gym leaders in Gen V more memorable than Gen VI due to their prominence in the storyline.

I agree with Gravity Cat on the Pokémon games. Once I am in post-Elite Four for X and Y, I did not feel like continuing unless I somehow managed to find a way to get Pokémon from previous generations. This is why I am getting my hands on older games.

I have say that for Black 2 and White 2, there is still a great deal of exploration after defeating the Elite Four. I did not feel the same for X and Y.

Is it alright if I add you Foreground?

It's a business thing. If there was a game that gad every single city, region, gyms and Champions (all with level 100's), it would sell as well as any other pokeman game, but the next generation of pokeman games would falter, since the one with everything in the world to do would satisfy everyone from every generation.

The system of Pokeman is addictive and broken, so making a game that gave you everything (i.e. going back to all regions) would very well satisfy you. And then the next pokeman games wouldn't sell well for a while because: why would you want the new one when you can go fly to any region and fight any 'push over' gym leader you remembered as a kid, but now has level 100's?

Agreed. However, I think the Pokémon franchise did a bit of what you have said. I loved it when I could return to regions from previous games which is why I liked the Gold and Silver versions. I also liked Black 2 and White 2 because it brought back characters from previous games. So, they did attempt to have their cake and eat it. A shame that X and Y did not do it that much.

I even agree with Pyre (though he said that in jest) that I could have spent my time more productively but as with all games and everything else, so long everything is taken in moderation what harm is there?

I will add you as soon as I can.
