A compilation of data entries from this survey

News on the localised class submission project! An interim report on its current status was just posted on mamare.net: ログ・ホライズン地域職業募集企画中間発表. At the time it was posted, Mamare had received 1834 submissions from 53 countries, a pleasant surprise for a project that was born from a whim =3. As the submissions come in various languages, he apologises for any wrong or incomplete translations and proceeds to give an overview of what he has received so far.

So far, the top three classes to be swapped are:

#1: Samurai (308 counts)
#2: Monk (225 counts)
#3: Assassin (222 counts)

Next he listed a few examples for each server complete with the number of submissions collected for each server, from which countries the submissions had come from, a brief description of each class and finally a short comment on the submissions for each region.

â—† For the North American server (401 submissions. From folks from the USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico):

Pirate
Medicine Man
Lumberjack
Brawler

â—† For the South and Central American server (255 submissions. From folks from Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Mexico)

Paje/Witchdoctor
Corsario
Capoerista
Cangaceiro

â—† For the Korean server (112 submissions. From Korea, naturally)

Hwarang
Baksu/Mudang

â—† For the Greater China server (114 submissions. From China (which includes HK, I suppose), Japan, Taiwan)

Xiake/Wuxia (侠客/武侠)
Daoshi/Fangshi (道士/方士)

â—† For the SEA servers (494 submissions. From Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore.... Eh? Where's everyone else? )

Pesilat
Pendakar
Dukun

â—† For the India server (21 submissions. From India, the USA, Japan)

Rajput

â—† For the Middle East server (42 submissions. From Lebanon, Israel, Indonesia)

Ghazi
Faris/Furusiyya

â—† For the Western Europe server (209 submissions. From France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, England)

Knight
Paladin
Templar
Exorcist

â—† For the Scandinavian server (77 submissions. From Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark)

Berserker
Viking (Very popular. Viking for Guardian, Viking for Samurai, Viking for Assassin (lolwat)! It seems that Mamare now sees Sweden, Norway and Denmark as The Vikings (nations). Somebody go link him to SATW )
Volva
Skald

â—† For the Russian server (39 submissions. From Poland, Russia, England, the Czech Republic)

Bogatyr
Volkhvy
Cossack
Hussar

â—† For the African server (19 submissions. From Nigeria, Ghana, Columbia, Canada)

Shaman

â—† For the Oceania server (51 submissions. From Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore)

Tribal Hunter / Bushhunter / Hunter

I'll leave translating Mamare's comments to those with a better command on Nihongo =3

Remember that the classes listed here are just a few examples of what he has received. Nothing is cast in stone yet, though Mamare did express interest in some of the classes listed. If you think you have more and/or better ideas, don't wait, submit it to him now! =3

Lol, why don't you send one too. :D
Can blame them though, it's "kinda hard" thinking a Class exclusive to Northern America that doesn't involve guns or native Americans.

in case anyone asked, The author himself has said that Guns are creatable, but unusable because of level requirements to make said gun. He said it will be a Lv+100, but the current level cap of the Elder Tale is 100.

Did anyone ask about how level requirements are defined?

I did since the deadline is till Feb.

I was looking through early Murican history for suitable swaps. Things like Huntsman, Rangers, etc. etc. are way better than a freaking lumberjack.

Medicine man works but just sounds boring, and not as "fictional" as a cleric/healer/etc. etc.

I was looking through not only European settlers and early Murican history but for indigenous history/warriors/tools/myths for this and submitted a few, but I'll doubt they'll get in.

I'd be cool to see a warrior with a Maquahuitl.

Well, there are entries from Mexico, but I guess those "mexican" entries were far less then the 4 mentioned in the NA Server. Also keep in mind that those 4 are just some examples.

Being able to foresee the future, deal with the spirit world and use rituals to heal and buff people, seems pretty fictional to me.

All that from a "medicine man". That's due to their class type, not associated powers to beings with those titles. It's just a slightly less generic term that ends up sounding a 1000x more generic than "Shaman".

I dunno though, I might be in the minority, and people might like "Medicine Man".

No that is literally the definition for what a Shaman is.

med·i·cine man
noun
noun: medicine man; plural noun: medicine men

1.
(among North American Indians and some other peoples) a person believed to have magical powers of healing and of seeing into the future; a shaman.

sha·man
noun
noun: shaman; plural noun: shamans

1.
a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, esp. among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing.

Right...Never disagreed with you, it's another name for Shaman, it's literally a less generic term for a shaman/spiritual medium. Shaman itself is a bit generic, but Medicine man is a pretty generic sounding term for a healer.

Personally, it makes me think of "Pharmacist".

Oh, I personally think Shaman sounds better as well, but I'd be happy with Medicine Man, it's probably the only historically accurate class that's fairly specific to NA. Pirates are found in pretty much any culture, lumberjack is just retarded.
