Hentai's Perception of Beauty
Is hentai assisting us in evolution by giving us a standard for beauty?

I may or may not have high standards. I got to admit that I could never fap to anything not photoshoped or animated, animated being my preferance of course.
On the other hand, I do not look for that beauty in real people. While looks does matter, as long as it is on a lowest-passable level, it really doesn't matter much to me. I don't think that is to my disadvantage at all.
I also got to admit I judge people by their looks first all the time, and since your average idiot always strive to look the same as other idiots, with a thick layer of makeup, I avoid the fake blonde beauties.

It's the path the matters most, rather than the destination. You're going to gain from trying so hard, so that way you're just a little bit better off then you were before.

Anime, in my opinion, is far from perfected....Whenever I think of anime, it is an animated world not to be confused with the world we ourselves live in. We create anime/cartoons/drawings for the sake of our own desires/needs for whatever reason.
I don't think the artist themselves aim for a perfect human beyond our own laws but in its own separate world.
Point: Anime is Anime, Life is Life. 2 separate things never to be compared.This only my own point of view, but I believe anime characters were created for its own purpose, not mimicking and the desire beyond our reach but for pure enjoyment of just the idea of an another world. This only goes as far as anime/manga or any other story related art.

Discordianism is an abused belief. Many people are quick to associate themselves with Discordianism because their main belief sounds fun, when really it has certain reasons for being what it is. If you don't feel like you could write a book on your beliefs as a Discordian, then you probably aren't a very good one.

I semi-agree with you. I do believe that artists protray what they believe is perfection, or something that is well above human standards of personality and looks. In reality, I've never a girl as simple as most anime girls, and reality kinda puts that thorn in the side that states, "Deal with it."
Also by creating figures to suit our desires and needs, this is a sign that women in reality (I'm speaking for guys here) do not easily give what we want, and in turn you get some men out there who are abysmally stuck up on anime girls. This in a sense is a sign of failing mental strength and a lack of balls in men of now. That aside, hentai does push that perception of beauty up a notch that real people can never match up to. But you know, we shouldn't have to compare and we should just enjoy hentai as is. I'm hoping to be married, with kids and all... a reality almost never realized in anime and hentai. (Itazura na Kiss surprised me with marriage element. I'll have to watch it later.)

Don't get me wrong, I love anime, but it will never get to the point where that kind of thing will happen.
Society sets the standards in which men and women should look or behave, and if you set your own standards that high(or low depending), you're setting yourself up for a fall. "Going with the flow" is not always the right thing to do.

This is mostly just about looks. If you think people should act like certain characters. I'm scared. Then again, I've met people who try. I even wrote a thread about an unfortunate incident when I came across someone who actually tried.

Fictional finalism... sorry in my psych class we just covered Adler. Its natural for people to want to strive to be better than they are. They can be happy with who they are, but most people do have goals. Those people generally come up with an imagined "end result" that they'd attain once they've improved what they feel needs improvement. Even if that final goal is, by all accounts, unattainable people strive to do what they can to get there.
