Hanasaku i should just die
(This post stars: Amaiya Madeko. The song featured in this post is: Trap of Love)

“Entry number #26 – Amaiya Madeko, you’re up next, good luck” Miwa Asakura called upon taking a glance to the paper she held. It contained a list of the participants in a numbered order.

“Understood,” Madeko replied, being in wait and having some built-up excitement as it was her first audition after enrolling, not to mention her first time walking the runway, as well.

The image of the changing room was one not forgotten as Madeko still had the vivid images of it in her head, like she had been doing this for a long while. The whimsical gold-bordered purple closet floated in the middle of the hallway, a board facing Madeko again. This time, she needed not question the use of the machine, it sort of just came to hear. Holding the Pink Stage Coord cards in her hands, she slid them into their respective slots along with her Starlight Academy card, all while thinking how exactly she would go about with the audition.

After a few moments the closet opened up yet again to a dazzling 4th-dimensional space, glowing brightly in the dimly lit room. At least Madeko was familiar with the Aikatsu System. As the entered the closet, the light wrapped around her and Madeko soon forgot all signs of uncertainty, absorbed in the excitement of finding out what her performance would be like. For the second time she ran through her cards again, feeling every inch of clothing as they grip onto her as she passed each card, the Vest, Bottom and Shoes- outfit now complete, she went for end of the space.

The stage, Neon Road Stage in particular, was a first for Madeko, however. The audience was much, much closer than expected. Madeko had a dour expression; she couldn’t help but be nervous, for she knows she had to put up a spectacular performance, but in this state, that wasn’t going to happen.

She didn’t even realise the song had even started playing and tried to break from her stupor by making small steps with the music. Alas, whatever small effort she made was completely wasted, it looked like she was a toy soldier marching.

Kodomo datte iu ni ha, fukuzatsu sugiru kono mune ha. Setsunakute hajikete shimai sou. Dokoka he tsuredashite?

Her hands and legs where off-timed, too; she wanted to dance but with the awkward and undignified position she had from, there was no way she could have danced. Madeko’s mind went blank and she tried to recall her lessons from Miwa-sensei, but could only picture her screw-ups and failures from there.

Watashi kara anata he to shikaketa no ha koi no wana yo. Shisen sorasa naide. Sou daitan na watashi ni narukara. Anata no konomi no senobi no heel de. Heibon na hibi wo kakedaseba, subete ga kirameki tomosu.

Madeko tried to twist her body, but misjudged the balance and soon felt the brunt of the floor brazing her arm. This garnered gasps and a slight giggle through the audience, which pierced Madeko’s heart. Madeko could feel her soul trying to flee from her being, as she wimpily let herself up. She did not gain any appreciation from the audience now, Madeko’s feelings were nonexistent.

Ne daitan wo watashi ni oshiete? Kore ja tarinai no mada hikiyosetai Mo joudan ja sumasa renai omoi. Te to te ga furetara! It's Trap of Love~!

She made close to zero effort trying to save her image, it was ruined right from the beginning. The judges were most likely unimpressed, and- maybe it was just her- but she could sense sneering from them. As expected… I’m not good enough for them... I will never be. Instead of trying any kind of fancy finish, Madeko just paced up to the front of the stage, not caring about the timing at all, gave a sinister bow and grimaced at her inept stand-up comedy show. ”Thanks for bearing with me.” Her eyes were empty, as it was with her heart. The audience excitement bar was way below average.

(This post stars: Mizusaki Sayuri. The song featured in this post is: Ponytail After School)

“Next up, entry number #32 – Mizusaki Sayuri, good luck,” Miwa Asakura called yet again. There was a very slight hint of hope and expectation from Asakura who knew that Sayuri had once asked her about the directions to the library. Perhaps she did do her work; studied hard, and practiced well. There was a chance that she may as well show her a good performance. Well, it was a chance, anyway.

“Yes!” Sayuri called back as she headed towards the changing room. Pushing aside the doors, she once again found herself gazing upon the magical fitting room that led to the Aikatsu Stage. The cards from the Yellow Stage Coord were slotted into their respective spots, along with her new Starlight Academy student ID, and the crest rose to the top of the fitting room, drawing back the curtains just as it did the previous time. Although Sayuri should have been extremely excited, she was too preoccupied with remembering her research.

Stepping into the light, the shining runway surrounded by club suits presented itself once more in front of the oblivious girl. With each step she ran, she crossed off items from her mental revision checklist. Student ID, check. Normal coord instead of brand, check. Braided hairstyle, check! All that’s left is the performance… Unconsciously doing a twirl at the end of the runway, Sayuri prepared herself for the †˜exam’ to come. Don’t forget to focus on presenting the coord!

In actuality; this was no exam, but Sayuri came to a misunderstood and believed that it was one of the Special Auditions that tests an idol. This was †˜special’ in the sense that it presented a rare chance of allowing the winner to become Hoshimiya Ichigo’s temporary assistant manager.

The entrance to the stage was a bit different from her first audition. Rather than walking onto the stage and waiting for the music to start, Sayuri could already hear the first notes as she was hoisted onto the candy filled stage. As the scenery shifted from club suits to jelly beans and lollipops, she tilted her head from one side to the other at the start of each bar. The ground she was standing on leveled off with the white runway on the stage and the first verse of the song began.

Ukanai kao shite wakari yasui yo ne, Kocchi ni oide yo hora, hayaku, Kokoro ga moyamoya ame ni naru mae ni, Kyō mo minna de atsumarō yo!

Although Sayuri thought that the lack of singing was something beneficial to her since she could focus more on the dance, she didn’t notice that the lack of mouth movements meant that her expression, despite having a smile, was rather stiff and unanimated. What she did notice however, was that posing during a jump was something she didn’t work on enough. Once again Sayuri had an unsteady landing after her jump at the end of the verse, thankfully she recovered in time for the next verse.

Tokubetsu news ga attemo nakutemo, Nanjikan datte hanaseru ne. Mama wa akiretsutsu, omoiataru fushi? Girls talk no senpai damon.

Starting off with four large strides, Sayuri ensured that her limbs were extended far enough to show off her bracelets and shoes. She then pulled back her arms to one side of her head to continue through the motions of the next few steps that she was reciting within her mind. Move straight… To the left… Now the right… Twirl, and… Blow! Aided by the movements of her hand, Sayuri’s stiff smile changed into an expression mimicking that of a fairy blowing the fluffy seeds off a dandelion for just a brief moment.

Onaji class toka, ie no kyori wa, unmei to yondemo iinda~ Nanka ki ga au, aete yokatta, Kamisama ni kansha!

The return of Sayuri’s concentration on demonstrating her clothes was followed by the return of the unanimated smile. As if wiping a window clean, she slowly raised her hands towards the ceiling and pushed up twice with both hands, then twice again with only her right. Continuing along with the dance, the perfection seeking girl tried her best to not lose her balance during the next few one legged poses. Yet much to her dismay, the spin was done too slowly resulting in a glitch in her timing.

Minna to iru to sunao ni nareru, itsumo honto ni arigato, Ponytail no kage wo yurashite, kitto zutto wasurenai.

Disregarding her errors, Sayuri pressed forward knowing that she couldn’t quit halfway. She was disappointed that her week’s worth of practice didn’t yield the results she wanted, however the audition had not yet ended. If I can’t get a hundred percent, I can still aim for ninety-nine!

Minna de isshoni otona ni narou, mainichi ga kakeashi no seishun, honto wa yukkuri yakitsuketai no ni.

The climax of the song was thankfully danced through without a hitch. As she raised her forearms slowly for her final pose, a sense of emptiness welled up within. Sayuri was slightly upset about not being able to execute her dance perfectly, however at the same time she felt that she had forgotten something important.

(This post stars: Tadaima Hiyori. The song featured in this post is: Ponytail After School)

“Next is entry number #35 – Tadaima Hiyori, good luck,” Miwa Asakura called after checking over her list once again, when she noted that the previous girl was done performing.

“Yes!” Hiyori replied energetically, rushing into the changing room as soon as she was called. Shoving her ID and Yellow Stage Coord cards into the slots as quickly as she could. ”My first fashion show, the catwalk, the stage! I’m so excited!” The machine light up as she continued her inner monologue, opening up like the magical portal it was.

Hiyori dashed through it, the sequence unfailingly raising her spirits. Each time she saw it, the runway always seemed like the pathway of dreams, calling her. The clothes popped onto her and she posed for the camera, smiling confidently. Considering it was a fashion show, she could focus on just her movements this time.

Appearing onto the Candy Pop Stage, she glanced around, taking in its atmosphere. It was a riot of colors, a rainbow upon which she rose out of the ground. Looking down, it looked like she was… standing on cream? Huge lollipops were in the background, dwarfing everything and she could even make out jellybeans in the distance.

She didn’t have time to enjoy the new stage though, as the music immediately began to play, the Ponytail After School resounding all around her. Hiyori took a deep breath and began the routine, stepping forward. It was difficult for her to perform this particular dance but she did, putting all of her effort into it.

She raised her hands robotically, her composure unbreakable as she moved across the stage. Like a marionette, she danced as if strings were attached to her limbs. This awkward dance routine put her body through different strains, unused to these moves as they were. Still, she smiled at the audience, wanting to convey the image of a toy ballerina in an endless waltz.

Ukanai kao shite wakari yasui yo ne. Kocchi ni oide yo hora, hayaku. Kokoro ga moyamoya ame ni naru mae ni. Kyou mo minna de atsumarou yo.

She pranced across the stage, hopping and swinging her arms rigidly as she walked. A smile was still plastered across her face, like a toy, its expression frozen in time. Her dancing was spot on but so focused was she on the routine that she walked very awkwardly, as if using the time to think about her next few steps.

Tokubetsu news ga attemo nakutemo, Nanjikan datte hanaseru ne. Mama wa akiretsutsu, omoiataru fushi? Girls talk no senpai damon.

Huffing, she continued her dance. Arms and legs moving like they were attached to strings, Hiyori was relieved that she didn’t have to sing. If she had to, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to manage this particular dance. She posed with hands in front of her face and waved them up and down, smiling at the crowd.

Onaji class toka, ie no kyori wa, unmei to yondemo iinda. Nanka ki ga au, aete yokatta, Kamisama ni kansha!

The next segment was complicated with its varying footwork. Hiyori managed to nail the movements but her walking felt rigid, lacking the grace of the ballerina she so sought to emulate. She plodded on regardless, not letting it get her down. The finale was coming up and she was on a roll!

Minna to iru to sunao ni nareru, itsumo honto ni arigato. Ponytail no kage wo yurashite, kitto zutto wasurenai.

As the song reached its final verses, Hiyori could only dance happily, the lyrics striking a chord within her as she danced. She beamed at the crowd as a little gingerbread man floated in front of her. She squealed and became more energetic, the robotic persona now gone as she spun around and waved her hands. Prancing down the stage, she seemed to call the audience, her arms constantly in motion.

Minna de isshoni otona ni narou, mainichi ga kakeashi no seishun. Honto wa yukkuri yakitsuketai no ni.

She paused, tousling her hair and a hand outstretched in front of her, smiling with a wink. Walking forward with arms outstretched to the side, she took a few paces forward and raised both arms in the air, bringing them down in tandem with the song. As it ended, she could only feel content, closing her eyes and a satisfied smile on her face. "Thank you everyone~" She thanked the audience in her heart.

Hanasaku i should just die
(This is a post starring: Tadaima Hiyori, and Amaiya Madeko. The song featured in this post is: Idol Activity!)

Special Audition – Ichigo’s Temporary Manager (1st May,Thursday)[/h]

Alright, honeys! Pay attention,” Johnny said. “This is an idol showdown! Two idols will be pit against each other at every round! We have judges, as well as spectators, and people streaming from the internet who’ll all grade your performance via Aikatsu’s excitement sensing system! Give it your all!” This was in the room before the changing rooms for partaking in the audition. Everyone – the girls who entered the audition – sat on chairs placed throughout the room. The venue was the Starlight Academy – as it was hosted by them.

The audition was about to begin.

Few girls were soon called upon by Johnny to perform on stage as time passed.

And about thirty minutes later…

“Hiyori and Madeko honey – you two are up. Good luck!

Hiyori walked up to the door, smiling at her opponent. She hadn’t been able to speak to Madeko much in class but would try to get to know her when she had the time, though Hiyori still had to try her best for the audition, classmate or not.

Madeko too, left her chair to head up to the door, she was surprised another classmate of hers signed up for the auditions as well. I guess this audition’s really popular, since it’s Ichigo-san, after all… Smiling back at Hiyori as she approached the door.

It was a familiar yet unsettling sight; for the third time Madeko was met with the golden bordered purple velvet curtains, with a board out front. However, it felt completely different than the first time Madeko was in front of the contraption. Contrary to when she felt amazement and wonder for the first time, she now experienced a slight sense of responsibility, if one would say- she was where she wished to be, but now she needed to live up for it. Holding in her hands the deck of Pink Stage Coord cards, which comprised of the Vest, Bottom and Shoes, she slit them one by one onto the board, along with her Starlight Academy card, when then once again magically clasped themselves.

At the same time, Hiyori was met with that familiar machine that started the dream, walking up to it eagerly and sliding her Student ID and the cards of the Yellow Stage Coord into their respective slots. Once done, Hiyori felt a rush of excitement and she wanted to ride on it till the very end, rushing through the gateway as soon as it opened.

The runway seemed to fly by as Hiyori ran, the aligned cards fitting on her body with a brilliant flash of light. She tossed her hair and smiled radiantly, clasping both hands to her chest before extending her arms outwards in joy.

Madeko ran as well, not forgetting the feeling of the clothes binding themselves onto her, she joyously passed each card with excitement and anticipation… before she took to the stage.

Madeko took a while to notice the audience was substantially different from when she had her first audition, and there were additionally cameras as well... she didn’t know where to look at all. Maybe it was the aura – of being in an audition of such significance, importance – Madeko could feel the heat escaping from her feet, and they started shivering un-noticeably. As for Hiyori, she basked in the feeling of having the audience join her in the dance. She waved towards the crowd energetically, smiling all the while.

“Saa! Yokou, hikaru mirai he hora, yume wo tsurete.”

Hiyori sang loud and clear, her voice unfailing even as her dance routine faltered, slow in bringing her right hand behind her head, closely followed by her left. She jerked her hands up in the air once, twice and then again at shoulder level before placing her left hand on her hip, swinging her right around and towards the sky, bringing her left up quickly before stepping from side to side jerkily and waving her arms, a bit off kilter due to the sudden movement.

Madeko’s voice resonated with Hiyori’s, as she certainly didn’t let her cold feet affect her singing. However, what was indeed affected was her locomotion ability; Madeko moved only ever so slightly to the tune, not sure whether due to uncertainty or fear, but her dance started on a bad note. Afraid of facing her downfall, Madeko tried her very best, but her muscles did not reach far enough to do even the simplest of swerves, and so Madeko ended up with a minimal set of moves.

“Pocket ni hitotsu, yuuki nigirishime Hashiri dashita ano michi.”

Hands on her hips, Hiyori swayed her body, taking a slight step forward and then back before turning to her right and kicking outwards awkwardly, her body unused to the motion.

“Shiroi shirts, kaze nabiki Toberu yo doko made mo.”

Hiyori sang and continued to dance, spinning to her left and clapping her hands twice before spinning back. She overcompensated and lost her footing for a moment, quickly recovering and resuming the swaying, her left hand looping before resting on her hip. Hiyori smiled to calm her own nerves as she raised her right hand to the sky.

Picking up to the rhythm, Madeko struggled to keep in line with the steps. Her body couldn’t have exhausted itself since the first audition and training, could it- she thought. Just when she thought she was okay with the timing and pacing, she stumbled again, causing her to spin only once and costing her time to regain composure. By then many and most of the audience’s eyes were on Hiyori, and Madeko couldn’t help but feel completely helpless. Nevertheless, she disregarded that fact; and continued to sing in euphony.

“Tama ni wa naki mushi no kumo! Taiyou ga warai tobasu! Nakama datte toki ni wa, rival shinkenshoubu yo!”

Her voice still going strong, Hiyori tried her best to appeal to the crowd, swaying to the beat and extending both arms up and turning in place with a smile on her face. Hands on hips, she winked at the crowd and extended her right arm, following the beat as she swung it left to right with index finger extended. She spun around sloppily, making a heart shape with both hands and peeking through it, anticipating the next move.

Madeko’s body and face expression were out of place; both seemed to crank every now and then like a rusty machine. As a result, her appeal wasn’t so satisfactory, so to say. She tried to follow closely to Hiyori’s movements, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case, she ended up messing up which was left/right, in spite of beforehand preparation. At this point Madeko felt slightly disappointed in herself.

“Idol – idol! Katsudou – katsudou! Go, go! Let's go! ...Go Go Let's go!”

Throwing her hands up in joy, Hiyori swayed as she enjoyed this particular portion of the song, bringing both hands back to that heart shape and repeating the action energetically. She stretched her arms out as far as she could, swinging her hands in the air with index fingers extended before leaping, pumping her right fist up twice. She stumbled upon landing, righting herself after a moment and waved her hands from side to side, a somewhat sheepish expression on her face.

The chorus, Madeko thought. This is the part that had the most impact on the audience-- she had to clinch it. She jumped, however short the distance- as if it was the last pinch of strength she had - landed, did the follow-ups, albeit slowly, which in turn let her miss the timing by a considerable bit. Madeko had to make the best out of the worst, and this was her chance to do it. She just didn’t want to let her audience down, despite having the jitters.

“Goal ni mukatte! Hashiri tsuzukeru kimi ga mieru, fight kureru~!”

As the song came to its end, Hiyori repeated the first steps of the dance sequence, bringing her right then left hands behind her hand as the song wound down, doing a slight leap as she extended her arms skyward and bringing them down slowly. Swinging her right arm quickly from left to up, she pointed up happily before clapping and swaying to the rest of the song.

She tried to maintain her composure at the end, but could only bring herself to blame for the lacklustre dance performance. Madeko had confidence in her singing and that there was no stage fright from before and yet, somehow, the performance felt incomplete. She bowed and waved towards the audience gratefully, still content that she had been able to perform before an even larger crowd.

Having failed her- and possibly the judges’- expectations, Madeko lacked behind Hiyori nearing the end. Sluggish, slow movements- paired with a expression of contempt- she was preparing herself for the inevitable outcome.

After the †˜performance’, if one could even call it, Madeko could only bow and give a weak smile.

The audience excitement bar was close to max for Hiyori, while it was lower than average for Madeko.

- Winning point details were honestly removed from the doc long ago. So I forgot the exact numbers.

(This is a post starring: Koyama Koyuki, and Saotoshi Haruna. The song featured in the post is: Idol Activity!)

“Everyone is so wonderful today,” Johnny commented from watching the performances. He tried his hardest to forget how Rice and Mizusaki Sayuri faced off just moments ago, and they both messed up badly in their performances. Too bad – he thought. Of course, only he was allowed the liberty to watch as he held a device to do so while standing behind the girls. He walked up before them, as if to speak again. “Alright, the last performance just ended. Koyama honey, and Saotoshi honey – you two are up!”

Koyuki looked at Haruna. She remembered the girl from the television show, reviewing students who were successful at the Nationwide Audition Caravan. Other than that Koyuki didn’t pay her another glance. All she cared about was performing her very best and winning this audition.

Haruna gave Koyuki a glance. Koyuki was cute and pretty, she thought. Woah, white hair! She thought. As a person who wanted to make friends, she thought that it’d be great if they became great friends after this. Win or lose, she wouldn’t feel too bad if she gained a new friend at the end of the ordeal, or so she felt. Regardless, she had to focus on the audition at hand now.

The two then brushed past their respective doors to the dressing rooms. Finding the familiar fitting device before them – it was as if the golden entrance to the world of idols was awaiting them both.

Koyuki almost smiled as she saw the familiar changing room. The golden machine was her ticket to trying out her new coord that Ichigo had given her. A treasured gift. Approaching the changing room Koyuki placed her student ID along with the cards for the Lucky Pilot coord into their respective slots.

Haruna found herself before the golden machine once again. A strangely nostalgic feeling welled up in her as she remembered the feeling when she took the audition at the Nationwide Caravan – the whole sequence where she wore her coord via the fitting device felt like a transformation scene from the Sailor Moon to her. She inserted her Student ID card first, followed by the cards of: Blouse, Skirt, and Boots of the Blue Stage Coord. As a person who could hardly keep up with her lessons, Haruna never quite noted that idol showdowns were better-faced with a brand coord. She didn’t think for even a moment that her other coord would be a better choice. Instead, she felt the want to wear that same coord she wore for her previous performance.

For both, lights lit up from over the fitting device before the pathway revealed themselves with a clank in order to have the curtains move aside – the road to the stage was now open.

Going past the door, the two ran with all their might in their respective runways – heading for the large cards aligned for them. Running past the cards – they were fitting onto their little bodies with a flash of light. Haruna struck a pose; holding up her index and middle fingers from each hand and placed them sideways over her eyes, her legs went in a closed motion and she perked up her chest for good measure, hearts popped up around her as she was done, some deep blue and smaller, the other two – bigger. Koyuki’s pose was much less over the top, looking up and crossing her arms with her head tilted was good enough for her. Noticeably Koyuki’s posture was perfectly straight.

As Koyuki and Haruna hopped onto the stage, and took their first steps onto the pink floor, they saw the faces of the audience watching and again, Koyuki almost smiled. This was where she wanted to be. As the music began Koyuki moved her right leg forward raising her arm to her head. While on the other hand, Haruna was slightly taken aback by the number of people in the crowd – there was almost double the people this time. This made her take up her arm up to her head a moment late. In her audition performance – Haruna hardly had much people. This was because there were too many stages in that event.

“Lucky Pilot Coord. How nice,” Orihime Headmistress commented. She was a part of the audience who stood before the judges at the back. Beside her, stood Hoshimiya Ichigo who was simply smiling at the stage. Give it your all, you two, she earnestly cheered to the two herself. “Koyuki honey is looking great! Yeah!” Johnny remarked from beside Ichigo – who gave an energetic nod as if to agree to the statement.

“Saa! Yokou, hikaru mirai he hora, yume wo tsurete,” the two sang.

This time, Koyuki was sure she wouldn’t stutter or miss a word. As she sang her left arm rose to meet the right behind her head as her feet continued in a four step repetition of back, back, forward, forward making sure not to miss a step, her body swayed as she moved. Raising her arms higher, she pointed them straight up and then outwards above her head, then parallel and then downwards. Pointing outwards with her right hand, she put her left on her hip. Her outreached arm slowly circled to point upwards before she bent her elbow and raised left into the air, making a wonky †˜Y’ shape with her arms. As she did this her head tilted slightly and her arms came together at her chest to make a heart shape.

While Haruna danced just as Koyuki did. She felt like something was amiss as frolicked. She couldn’t feel her voice losing to Koyuki’s – just as resounding as her’s. Despite that, the two were not in sync as they were supposed to be – she noted while performing the dance steps to the melody of the music. Strange, she thought.

“Pocket ni hitotsu, yuuki nigirishime Hashiri dashita ano michi,” the two continued to sing.

Koyuki continued to dance, moving her arms and feet forward and backward fluidly. She sang, surprising herself at how well she was managing to sing. Moving her arms to her hips Koyuki continued the steps she had practiced, before moving her hands out in front of her. Her feet moved backwards and forwards before Koyuki made a small hop in time with the lyrics, and then another. They sang:

“Shiroi shirts, kaze nabiki Toberu yo doko made mo,” as they returned to their simple step routine adding first an anti-clockwise spin and then a clockwise spin into the steps before bringing her hands together at the side. Stopping her steps she brought her right hand bent to the side and spun her left in a circle before bringing it up to point at the sky.

Moving her arms back and forth as she danced – Haruna sang with all her might. In fact, it might be what she had really been putting all her strength into – singing. Her dance was somewhat slower than Koyuki’s; movements not as smooth and firm. It was lacking in skills – barely polished. Her expression was passable as she gave a smile. In a certain segment of the lyrics came a part where Haruna needed to skip – which she attempted… and when she did; she almost fell. Haruna somehow managed to balance herself, but when she did so, it felt like a feat hard to pull through – which it was. This made her exclaim “safe,” lightly with apparently proudness. She didn’t notice due to the loud beats of the music that she actually thought out loud. Yet she continued to smile. Ignorance was bliss.. Whatever she was cheerful about, didn’t appeal to a certain teacher… the poor dance ultimately made Miwa Asakura not just cringe, but leave. Haruna didn’t notice this, however. She was preoccupied with trying to figure out the issue with her dance… which was now near impossible to fix given her lack of abilities. However, she still continued, somehow.

Getting into it, Koyuki felt her demeanor soften, her eyes growing more gentle, and a blush forming on her face as she realised how well she was performing. For the faintest few seconds a smile appeared on her face, but quickly disappeared.

“Tama ni wa naki mushi no kumo! Taiyou ga warai tobasu! Nakama datte toki ni wa, rival shinkenshoubu yo!” The two continued with the lyrics regardless as the song progressed.

With her hands on her hips, Koyuki entered a step sequence putting one foot forward and then moving her other foot to meet it. Raising one hand into the air, and then another she began a step turn, turning full three hundred and sixty degrees. Then, still bouncing with the music she put her right arm to where her folded left arm’s hand was making a circle gesture with her fingers. Stopping and putting her hands on her hips she posed for a second before reaching her right hand out to the left, and then bringing it out to the side while bouncing to the music. Spinning and putting her hands to her chest, forming a heart Koyuki broke out into the chorus.

Haruna arched her foot forward before putting her other front as the song entered a new phase. She moved from left, then to right in such a manner. Clearly, Koyuki was far-matched in this case. She then turned before continuing to sing – while putting up her right hand’s index finger beside her face. The other arm covered the part below her chest as if it was supporting the right arm, while it visibly wasn’t. The back of her hands were put over her hips – before her index finger was pointed left to right – pointing at the audience – before she formed a heart-pose with her fingers after yet another turn.

“Idol – idol! Katsudou – katsudou! Go, go! Let's go! ...Go Go Let's go!” as a part of the song, there were phrases that were sung in the music itself. The two continued to sing, their voices still not giving out.

Her arms stretched to their limits; Haruna skipped yet again with the music. Her index fingers – of both her hands – energetically shot towards the sky repeatedly, after which she pumped her fist towards the sky twice. She noted that she did so after Koyuki did. She internally sighed at herself.

Jumping the the side arms, outstretched, she continued to step to the music, before jumping cleanly to the side again in a similar movement. Koyuki then repeatedly pointed into the air in time with the music.

“Goal ni mukatte! Hashiri tsuzukeru kimi ga mieru, fight kureru~!” After the two sang this line, there were no more lyrics left to sing out.

Haruna found herself dancing out the same steps she performed at the start of the song. Swaying her hands back and forth cheerfully, she carefully danced out the steps with her legs – frolicking, apparently. She turned away from the crowd to end with her finger pointing towards the sky, slowly, and steadily, before forming a heart with her fingers next to her face as the music finally ended.

Waving her arms back and forth to lead the crowd Koyuki continued with the song. Repeating her first move, she put her arms behind her head, then stretched them into the sky before bringing them down at the sides in time with the music and then pointing her right hand to the side before bringing it to the sky, bending her elbow and bringing her left arm up to replace the right. Bringing her hands to her chest to again form a heart shape, her simple four step routine continued for a few seconds before Koyuki turned her back on the audience, left hand on her hip. Bringing her right hand into the sky slowly, as it reached a ninety degree angle, she spun around, both her hands making a heart shape next to her.

Yes! Koyuki thought, she hadn’t made a mistake in the routine this time. She bowed politely to the audience when the music had stopped. Koyuki’s excitement bar was maxed out.

Ugh… this didn’t feel right, at all, Haruna concluded. That is, it was her feeling towards her dance itself. Performing on stage after so long, however, felt nice. This allowed her to maintain a smile. Haruna’s excitement bar was below the average as her performance ended.

GM Notes:
- Winning point details were honestly, removed long ago in the doc. So, no winning point totals available for this face-off. I think Koyuki got around 5, I don’t really remember anymore.
- Koyuki wins the round.

(This is a post starring: Koyama Koyuki, and Tadaima Hiyori. The song featured in the post is: Idol Activity!)

As the audition got fiercer, Koyuki and Hiyori both faced their respective opponents. Never backing down – they faced the other idols head on. Luckily for them, their opponents weren’t as vibrantly dancing as they were. Eventually winning their respective rounds. They, obviously, sang the same song on the same stage.

“Koyuki honey, Hiyori honey – good job on making it so far!” Johnny praised the two. “It’s the time for the finale now. Both of you will be up against each other. Whoever wins will be the winner of this audition, and will become Hoshimiya Ichigo’s temporary manager. Yeah!” He remarked, reminding them of their rewards. “Good luck, honeys!

Standing before the machine, Hiyori composed herself before facing off against Koyuki, both excited and nervous that she had made it to the final round. Slapping her cheeks twice and breathing out deeply, she readied herself before placing the Yellow Stage Coord cards and Student ID into the machine with determination, walking through the gateway after.

Hiyori ran swiftly, the runway a blur as her coord cards appeared in front of her. Dashing through them, the clothes magically appeared on her in a bright flash of light and she twirled, tousling her hair and smiling with satisfaction. After getting so far, she knew she could do it.
Stepping out onto the stage once again, she waved to the crowd more calmly this time, smiling and looking around. Hiyori didn't want to repeat what happened in the first round, missing her cue had almost cost her the dance.

Koyuki in comparison was calm, with how well her last performance had gone, she was feeling quite confident that she wouldn’t perform badly. She tilted her head sideways, sizing up her opposition. Thinking about Hiyori she felt that this would be a close call no matter how well she performed. As she stood in front of the golden changing room she took out the coord that had served her so well in the previous round, placing it into the slots. Running through the changing room she smiled as her coord came together. Reaching the end of the runway, she tilted her head before jumping onto the satge at the same time as Hiyori.

“Saa! Yokou, hikaru mirai he hora, yume wo tsurete.”

This time, Hiyori was prepared and had no trouble kicking off the song. Singing with passion, her dance routine was much better than before. Fluidly, she brought her arms up in one smooth motion before lowering them at three intervals. Resting her left hand on her hip, Hiyori swiftly brought her right around and pointed to the sky, her left quickly joining its partner as she swayed joyfully from side to side, her arms waving all the while. She smiled happily, pleased that the performance was going well and that she could live up to her own and the audience's expectations.

Not hesitating on stage this time, Koyuki began to sing straight away as to keep up with Hiyori’s frantic pace. As Koyuki sang, she felt her body remember the steps from before, almost like an instinct. Her left arm rose to meet the right behind her head as her feet repeated a step sequence of back, back, forward, forward making, her body moved in time with the steps. Raising her arms higher, she pointed them straight up and then outwards above her head, then parallel and then downwards. Pointing outwards with her right hand, she put her left on her hip. Her outreached arm slowly circled to point upwards before she bent her elbow and raised left into the air, making a cute shape with her arms. As she did this her head tilted slightly and her arms came together at her chest to make a heart shape.

“Pocket ni hitotsu, yuuki nigirishime Hashiri dashita ano michi.”

Hands on her hips, Hiyori swayed her body, taking a slight step forward and then back before turning to her right and kicking outwards confidently. "Fufu, no problems yet!" She thought happily as the music blared around her.

“Shiroi shirts, kaze nabiki Toberu yo doko made mo.”

Hiyori span to her left, clapping twice before doing a return spin. This time, she executed a perfect twirl and hopped once in joy, following through with the motion by looping her left hand through the air, swaying her body as she rested it on her hip. Raising her right hand skyward, it felt she could feel victory in her grasp.

Stopping and putting her hands on her hips

“Tama ni wa naki mushi no kumo! Taiyou ga warai tobasu! Nakama datte toki ni wa, rival shinkenshoubu yo!”

Hiyori swayed to the beat, turning in place as she extended both her arms. Smiling cheerily at the crowd, she tried her to best to appeal and get them more excited, her right arm pushing out as she swung it from left to right. She spun around once again, her hair dazzling as it flowed around her, hands falling into a heart shape as she felt the emotions running through her body.

Koyuki posed for a second before reaching her right hand out to the left, and then bringing it out to the side while bouncing to the music, feeling slightly less dazzling than Hiyori, Spinning and putting her hands to her chest, forming a heart Koyuki broke out into the chorus.

“Idol – idol! Katsudou – katsudou! Go, go! Let's go! ...Go Go Let's go!”

Like before, Hiyori threw her hands up as this line came out, all her extra energy used on this particular part of the routine. Repeating her actions, she stretched her arms out wide, hands in the air and pumping her right fist twice as she leapt. Executing a perfect landing, she spun and waved her hands at the crowd, taking a hasty breath after her movements.

Jumping to the side arms, outstretched, she continued to step to the music, before jumping smoothly to the side again in a similar movement. Koyuki then repeatedly pointed into the air in time with the music, pumping her fingers into the sky. It wasn’t that Koyuki was dancing any worse than Hiyori, she just didn’t seem to be getting the audience excited as much.

This time, she knew she had done better than before. A performance that made her proud, her best on show for everyone to see.

Hrmmm… Koyuki thought, she hadn’t made a mistake in the routine but this certainly wasn’t her best performance, looking at Hiyori she felt completely overshadowed.

The audience bar rose as the performance progressed. It was like a race between the two respective bars of the performers. Koyuki’s was slightly lower than Hiyori’s which was almost maxed out.

Self-Choreographed Audition (2nd May, Friday)[/h]

It was the 2nd of May, Friday. The Self-Choreographed audition was about to take place. The venue was a certain establishment in the city. Outside of Starlight Academy. There were a few pairs that decided to participate today. However, as everyone had their own waiting rooms; none was quite aware of the others that are participating in this audition.

Aomori and Rice sat over a soft crimson red sofa; waiting for them to be called by a member of the staff.

“I… feel so nervous,” Rice said, as if to break the silence, which seemed to be making her even more stiffer and uncomfortable.

Aomori had been so focused on making sure she remembered everything that she hadn’t noticed she had barely said a word since they got there. “Me too...but at the same time, I’m excited!” answered Aomori turning her body slightly more towards Rice on the sofa. “I think we are going to blow them out of the water!”

“Y-Yeah…!!” Rice cheered – pumping her fist high towards the ceiling. “I’m not sure if our choreography is good enough, though,” she said, pondering seriously. It was a choreography made by unprofessional, or rather, fully untrained pair of dancers. Who knew if it was legitimate?

“All we can do is our best, and if that isn’t enough we walk away with experience. The only place we can go from here is straight up!” answered Aomori with a bright smile. “Making our own dance was fun enough in it’s own right.”

“I’m not so sure, actually. I’ve heard that it’s really easy to go down in this industry…” said Rice, not so convinced, at all. “But I do think it was fun to make it. That I agree,” she gave a nod, smiling.

“That’s the spirit,” replied Aomori. She hadn’t thought about how easy it was to fail in the idol industry. She simply never had the †˜I might fail’ mindset. She was going to give it her all on her climb to the top.

“Mhm,” Rice uttered. Just at that moment, the door opened.

A man wearing black clothes with †˜STAFF’ written in white and large font seemed to have appeared. “Tabi-san, Rai-su-san, you two are up now.” He then closed the door and left… before Rice could correct him.

“Ah… !! Jeez! People and their pronunciation!” Rice cursed – getting up – she ran the back of her hand past her hair – straightening it up. “Let’s go, shall we?”

Aomori giggled at the man having the same issue with Rice’s name as she did. Standing up she straightened out her clothes. “Yea let’s do it!” she said obviously excited. Following Rice out of the room before walking side by side down the hall towards the stage.

“Yeah! Let’s go!”

The two then left the waiting room.

***

Making way to their respective changing rooms. The walls adorned with small bulbs of lights that formed stars that were ever illuminating as Rice and Aomori approached their golden fitting devices. Eyeing the crest longingly, Rice inserted her Student ID Card, the One-piece, Black Boots, and the Black Chiffon Headband of her White Stage Coord onto the crest. While Aomori placed her Green Stage Coord’s Top, Skirt, and its Shoes over the slots. The two crests shone brightly as if resonating to the resolution of the the pair. The crest moved upwards while the various locks moved aside – allowing passage into the machine. The two girls dived into the light that the curtains moved aside to reveal.

Inside, the space was colored with a tone of bright blue – overflowing with dusts of sparkles and few suits of diamonds. Rice and Aomori’s body was draped with the color of deep and azure blue. Before these two idols – lied a runway – a path leading up to the aligned large cards. Taking a dash; they passed through their respective cards – with a burst of light – the cards were fitted into their body. It felt as though they transformed. What a magical feeling it was! A sparkle of light resembling a passing firework flew up while circling Rice and Aomori – as they gave a bold pose – stars and hearts lit up around them.

They then hopped onto the stage. The two looked around with a big smile – there were four pillars around them topped with what seemed like an large blue crystals. Behind them lied an oval-shaped screen. The stage under them was what seemed like an encircled star – made only with white linings, they could see the hollow darkness underneath – of which the floor seemed to be transparent. The skies – more so – the space around the two were black; both above and beneath the stage. People seemed to be standing mid-air. Only the two were visible among everything else, save for the surface they stood over. There was a round of cheers – the spectators were psyched up! Rice and Aomori noted figures standing below the round stage – all expectantly looking. Some were solid forms – real people – some else; see-through; transparent – the streamers who were viewing the performance online.

Aomori and Rice stood side by side looking down with their eyes closed. Getting the rhythm down they turned away from the stage with one hand behind them. Turning back to the crowds they put a hand to their hearts before waving it through the air. Aomori, however, was a little off sync at this time. Catching up, and syncing back with Rice on the waves that followed.

Stepping to the left right, they both put their hands up to the chest. Dropping the arms at the same time together. They spun to the left, and then spun to the right rotating their arms to the beat. Stopping on one foot; they both extended their arms and waved their index finger – then stepping side to side they performed breaststroke motions.

“Sunshine sake nagara machi no nake e. Madamada natsu no shigasen wa nokette run dakara?”

They both sang in unison. Rice noticed that Aomori was a little too quiet and sang a bit louder to make up for it, We’re both partners, I have to make up for what she is unable to pull off! She encouraged herself, and resolved herself to cover Aomori’s mistakes while striving make her own performance as best as possible. Balling their fists, they extended both arms out and bent their elbows bring them to their chest. Then flapping their arms they made two energetic hops. Before dropping their arms with their hands flared open. Spinning away from the crowd with a third jump. Placing their hands on their waist the swayed their hips back and forth.

“Sou itsumade datte Best na Smile, Tamotteteai no desu knono Style!”

They sang together as they continued the rest of their routine. Rice looked over to Aomori noticing that she was making mistakes here, and there. As much as she was annoyed by this she was just glad that she was at least keeping it up. Jeez, Tabi! I didn’t think you’d have me cover for that many mistakes! Despite cursing Aomori mentally, Rice continued to cover for her partner’s mistakes, as best as she could. She could feel herself reaching her limit due to it, however. Her skills were far too lackluster for something such as covering for others, after all. This wasn’t easy, at all.

“Yappari ii desho!”

Rice and Aomori placed sideways peace signs in front of their eyes and spun around. Tilting their head and smile at the crowd. Aomori was breathing hard almost out of stamina, she was profusely sweating. She could feel her bones quivering from exhaustion. She was lucky that she made it to the end somehow. Rice heavily breathed, too, but she wasn’t as tired Aomori was. Darn it, I screwed up… she thought beating herself up. The moves were much easier in practice, but for some reason she just couldn’t gather the energy on stage. After that the rest of her performance was somehow pulled off. Rice had to cover up for Aomori more than ever. She made a mental note to chop at her head later. Throughout the performance, however, Aomori had a more gothic feeling to herself. Perhaps it was in her jumbled up expressions, somewhere. Rice perfectly seemed like a silver princess standing over a floating star. At the end of the day; they did their job well; to entertain the viewers.

Sun Kiss Audition:[/h]

The venue today was in Dream Academy. The stage was in one of its auditorium. This place was admittedly far more spacious than Starlight Academy. It did seemed more futuristic and it did not held onto the feeling of European high-class designs and architecture unlike Starlight Academy. Most of the participating students had to run on their own feet to get here – those who weren’t from Dream Academy, anyway. Some might’ve used a taxi, however.

Natsuki strolled across the Academy’s halls, still waiting for the audition’s designated time. While she didn’t entirely approve of Dream Academy’s decor, it wasn’t necessarily bad in itself - merely different from what she would have picked.

“Ah, are you partaking in today’s audition?” A lady said as she approached Natsuki. She had really short brown hair, and possessed an incredibly slim figure. She seemed to be as old Orihime Headmistress – if not slightly older, but seemingly young. She had purple eyes, and wore appropriate make-up. Her dress-up contained a red top, and a black short skirt, along with black long stockings, and black heels. “Then you’re heading to the wrong direction!” She added.

Natsuki looked up, startled, before putting on a demure smile. ”Oh! I didn’t know. Thank you very much, Madame.” She bowed her head slightly. ”This place is rather large, so it’s easy for someone to get lost if they don’t have a map…” She added.

“There are some maps in the walls, I think… ” the lady said, pondering. As if she herself is unsure. “If you come across one, go to †˜Auditorium E’!” She said. “Hmm… I feel like I saw you somewhere before…”

Natsuki bowed again. ”Thank you Madame.” She replied again. ”Ah, my name is Kahouin. Natsuki Kahouin. She informed her speaker. Perhaps, the woman knew her from one of the Academy’s broadcasts? Or, given her age, maybe knew one of her relatives; in spite of her blonde-and-blue-eyed constitution, Natsuki was not that different from most Kahouin women.

“Ah! Now I know! You’re one of the fresh girls who made a recent debut on Starlight Academy, didn’t you? Your debut performance – the walk on the runway was great!” She praised. “My name is Yumesaki Tiara – I am the Headmistress of Dream Academy – nice to meet you!”

Natsuki curtsied. ”A pleasure to meet you, Headmistress.” She said a little more officially. ”And thank you. That walk took a bit of preparation, really. I’m glad that people enjoyed it!” That much was true - Natsuki had found that she enjoyed seeing the people’s impassioned expressions after her show.

“I like seeing girls like you blossom on the stage,” Tiara openly claimed. “You seem to have good sense of style and fashion. Perhaps you may one day truly have your dresses come to life!” Tiara remarked. “Why not try to become an actual modelling? I think it might fit you very much!”

Natsuki paused, surprised. It...sounded rather nice, actually. Though Natsuki kept improving her dancing, it wasn’t something she wanted to particularly focus on. And modelling...well, that had a certain kind of stoic charm to it. She smiled. ”I might consider it, once I have more time.” She honestly admitted.

“Regardless, you should walk on a single straight line sometimes! It really helps with cat-walking, especially if you add some height into it!” Tiara said the last portion of her sentence with the usual enthusiasm as if it was still a piece of cake for everyone. “Anyway, I’d best be off now, be sure to find your way to the auditorium!” she said before waving her hand at Natsuki while walking off.

Natsuki managed to only briefly wave back before the woman disappeared. What an interesting person, She thought.

***

Natsuki was soon led to a waiting room where she waited for almost about thirty minutes after reaching her destination. There were quite a lot of girls in here, today. Mostly Dream Academy students; perhaps they joined since the location didn’t quite required efforts for mobility. The most eye-catching figure participating today was Himesato Maria – one of the fabled models of Dream Academy, apparently a princess from some wealthy family. Albeit, Natsuki didn’t know her, but she could tell how charming she seemed from a single glance. On the other hand, there was Hiyori, a fellow student from Starlight Academy, unfortunately Natsuki didn’t quite know her either; she never quite looked up the other students that passed the Nationwide Audition Caravan.

Natsuki briefly pondered on what to do next. She could have went on ahead and say her greetings to Himesato, but then again, Natsuki really didn’t feel that it was required. Rather, she had felt surprisingly...protective of her status as a Starlight Academy student. Therefore, in the end she decided to hang out with her fellow student instead. Good time as any for introductions, eh?

Natsuki approached Hiyori, putting on her best smile. ”Hello there,” she begun, trying to catch her fellow student’s attention. ”Waiting for your turn at the auditions I see...Hiyori, wasn’t it?”

Hiyori nodded enthusiastically, happy to have a fellow student to chat with. “Yup, that’s me!” She looked around to see if there were any others from Starlight Academy but only found Natsuki. “It’s nice to meet you!”

”Likewise, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance” Natsuki nodded, taking up the sole empty seat next to Hiyori. ”So, excited for the upcoming audition?” She asked the girl.

“Very!” Replied Hiyori, clapping her hands together in delight. “I knew this was one I’d sign up for when, the name “Sun Kiss” is something I can’t pass up.” She nodded her head sagely, appearing to be in deep thought.

Natsuki laughed gently. ”Well, it does sound nice I suppose.” She paused in thought. ”Though to tell you the truth...I signed up mostly because it’s a modeling audition...and honestly, I feel more confident with modelling than anything else, so far.”

Hiyori did another appraisal of Natsuki’s appearance, gazing at her hair and toying with her own blonde locks. “Well, you do look pretty different from the rest of the girls and…” She paused, trying to find the appropriate words. “Um, more mature? Adult? Ngaah!” Giving up, Hiyori just smiled sheepishly. “You look unique!”

Natsuki giggled. ”That’s very nice of you.” She said, tilting her head to get a better look at Hiyori.”You’re quite unique yourself.” She paused for a minute, gathering her thoughts. ”Like...a-a younger sister, I suppose. The kind you just want to hug and spoil.” She said to Hiyori.

“Hehe~” Hiyori giggled, “Thank you I guess? I don’t have any siblings but I get what you mean.” She replied charmingly, “The younger children from my town are just so adorable.” Hiyori blew a lock of hair out of the way, some of it falling in front of her eyes after her toying.

Natsuki smiled, reaching out for the other girl’s shoulder. ”Awww~ That’s so sweet. I wish I had a sister like you! And I’m sure you’ll make a great mother in the future!” Natsuki smiled brightly at the other blonde. ”Let’s do our best then, alright?”

“Eh? Me?” Hiyori flushed and tilted her head away, somewhat embarrassed by the comment. She just wanted the people around her to be happy, that’s all. “Mmm…” She managed, nodding shyly in agreement.

Natsuki giggled again, bringing one of her hands to the mouth in an elegant gesture. ”Teasing her is surprisingly fun.” She thought.

”That said though, we should probably start preparing now. If you need anything, you have but to ask.” She politely told Hiyori, still smiling.

Hiyori fiddled with the edge of her skirt, still slightly flustered. “Ok… I’m sure I’ll need help sometime in the future… so thank you.” She bowed her head hurriedly, smiling slightly at Natsuki’s offer. “Likewise, I’d extend the same offer to you!”

Natsuki smiled brightly at the other girl as she tilted her head in the other way, the curtain of platinum-blonde hair sparkling behind her. ”Thank you very much darling. I’ll keep it in mind.”

Now, there was nothing but to wait for the auditions to start.

Some girls were calling in by the staff members, before Natsuki was beckoned to head for the dressing room. It was then time – for her to shine.

She found herself on a road made from purple, hard light, with the symbol of “spade” card floating around. In front of her, the cards silently hung in the air.

With quick, but elegant, pace, Natsuki walked through card after card.

The first was top, then skirt and lastlyok feeling was…exciting, actually. She felt invigorated, as if the entire world was at her fi, another at an angle to her body with a finger extended and pressed over her lips, in a universal “Shhhh” sign, complete with a racy wink.

”GO MY WAY!! GO mae e!! Gambatte yukimashou, Ichiban daisuki na, Watashi ni naritai”

Perhaps Natsuki was too excited - or perhaps, still too miffed about the choice of the song for this type of the audition. Whatever the reason, her singing could hardly be called ideal. In fact, to be brutally honest, the only good thing about it was that the lyrics were accurate, and somewhat paced. However, the tone of voice was all wrong, as were the various inflections and the expressions in the song. In other words, her singing was flat, and maybe a bit shrill to boot. But the dance routine was simple, and surprisingly refreshing, and she quickly found herself enjoying it.

”NONSUTOPPU de itte mimasho♪ Tte omottara mata akashingou!?! Sonna toki wa hekomanai de, HAIUEI ga aru FAITO!! FURUSUROTTORU tobashite mimasho♪ Tte omottara SUPIIDO seigen!?! Konna toki wa nayamanai de, JETTO ga aru FURAITO!!”

Perhaps enjoying herself a bit too much - as she stepped from one leg to another, Natsuki wore a somewhat impish grin, which clashed considerably with the tone of song and the dance. Unsurprisingly, most of the audience found it either perplexing...or somewhat comical, if you’d will. Nonetheless, it didn’t detract too much from Natsuki’s visual appeal - the just right combination of colors, the sheen of her hair, the sparkling eyes and the tone of her skin.

”Mirai wa dare ni mo mienai MONO, Dakara dare mo ga yume wo miteru, Donna chizu ni mo notte nai kedo, Donna toki demo kanaete kita yo, Saa yukou!!”

Natsuki briskly and smoothly moved through the dance, even if her singing and expression were subpar. A couple of moves - particularly when she had to jump up in cheer and then swing hips side-to-side while doing a hand-roll, got to show off Natsuki’s rather well-developed body for her age, much to delight of the present male audience. The subtle wink, and the sparkling, shiny flow of her brilliant blonde hair helped too - it seemed as if she was less of a girl, and more of a gorgeous - delicious - fairy or succubus. A little improvisation - like a wink there, or a small kiss here, worked wonders too, and Natsuki could hear many sighs from the gathered students. Boys mostly, though there were a couple of girl-sounding ones too...

”GO MY WAY!! GO MY ue e!! Hora hitori hitori ga, Kono sekai juu de, One & Only demo Not Lonely, GO MY WAY!! GO mae e!! Harikitte yukimashou, Subete no kagayaki, Kono yubi ni tomare!”

She finished the performance with a big shout, and to a tremendous applause from the audience. Natsuki genuinely smiled, feeling pride well up in her ample chest. ”I think I now understand why professional idols do what they do.” She thought. She then blew an exaggerated kiss towards the audience, leaning forward, with one of her hands on her tigh - a position that gave a very flattering view of her legs, chest and face.

“La vie est drole” She sensually whispered, inciting yet another round of cheers. Natsuki smiled again, waving back to the enthusiastic crowd.

After placing the cards on the machine and subsequently passing through the gateway, Hiyori breathed a sigh of relief. The string of auditions had been long and gruelling, the Sun Kiss in particular was her last and most anticipated. The lotion hadn’t meant much to her, but the words Sun Kiss in particular, they had struck a particular chord in her. Hiyori was called to the dressing room some time ago by a staff member as it was finally her turn to perform.

And so, off she went across the runway, the clothes popping onto her with bright flashes. Appearing onto the Sky Sweet Stage, the determined girl took a glance around her and smiled, she was on the same stage as before. The illusion of flight did bring a certain joy to Hiyori though.

However, she her own set of jitters as she was tad bit frightened of heights. Being with Chris the last time had dulled it somewhat as she had a partner to cling onto but now she was alone. Hiyori tried to calm down but before she could though, the music began to play and she had to hurry, the song already beginning. She began her dance just in time but had forgotten some of the routine due to the minor fright.

“GO MY WAY!! GO mae e!! Ganbatte yukimashou, Ichiban daisuki na watashi ni naritai, 3 2 1 GO!!”

Hiyori fumbled, her hands all over the place as she tried to remember what to do. Her voice came out weak, not quite as strong as she would have liked it to be during the other auditions. She remembered that the dance steps were fun when she was practising but somehow, she couldn’t perform them properly or they came out a tad too late as she danced.

”NONSUTOPPU de ittemimashou, tte omottara mata akashingou!?! Sonna toki wa hekomanaide. HAIUEI ga aru, FAITO!! FURU SUROTTORU, tobashite mimashou tte omottara SPEED seigen!?! Konna toki wa nayamanaide, JETO ga aru, FURAITO!!”

The song passed by in a blur as she tried to concentrate, yet her efforts were not bearing fruit. She still couldn’t maintain a steady tempo and her voice wasn’t reaching anyone, at least not to her. The steps barely registered to her, moving on autopilot, yet the mistakes seemed to pile up.

”Mirai wa dare ni mo mienai mono, dakara dare mo ga yume o miteru. Donna chizu ni mo nottenai kedo, donna toki demo kanaete kitayo, saa yukou!”

Hiyori tried to focus her attention on the crowd, smiling to them and acting as if she radiated cheerfulness. She continued the singing and dancing despite all these mistakes, because the people around her, the audience who came to see her, they deserved more than this but if it was all she had to give, she would.

”GO MY WAY!! GO MY ue e!! Egao mo namida demo, kono sekai juu ga. Wonder Land na Never Land, GO MY WAY!! GO mae e!! Ganbatte yukimashou, ichiban daisuki na watashi ni naritai.”

So she continued to dance, on autopilot, as she gave her best for the people who had come. So long as she tried her best, it would please her. Accepting that she could not excel in every area, she now wanted to please the crowd, working them up into a fervor.

”GO MY WAY!! GO MY ue e!! Hora hitori hitori ga kono sekai juu de, One & Only demo Not Lonely! GO MY WAY!! GO mae e!! Harikitte yukimashou subete no kagayaki, kono yubi ni tomare.”

As she sang the final verse, she felt slightly disappointed in herself. This had not been her best performance, laden with mistakes as it was, yet the crowd was with her all the way. But, so long as they enjoyed it, she was glad. ”Everyone! Thank you for coming today!”, she said, grinning to everyone she could see. She didn’t deserve their approval, not this dance but she would strive hard until she did.

Chapter 5 – The Life of Rookie Idols.[/h]

An Exchange of Words in the Silent Library:[/h]

Sayuri went through books and pages. She didn’t know what went wrong when she performed. She knew everything. Well, she should’ve had all the information she needed. What went wrong? She sat here the whole morning. It was Sunday, the 4th of May. A day free of classes. However, they say that idols don’t really get a break. This was just another day of idol activities for most idols. In fact, free days like these are when idols are most demanded, a lot of the times.

Maybe more dance practice... At the very least, it was obvious that Sayuri had made quite a few mistakes in her dance. However the thought was not followed up by action as the crestfallen girl flipped through yet another page. She knew that dwelling on past mistakes was a bad idea, but the contrast between her expected performances and her actual ones were simply too big to just pass off. Motivation was the rug that was pulled out from under her feet, and reluctance was what replaced it.

“What are you doing, moping here?” Asked her upperclassman – Haruka. Who Sayuri abruptly found standing right behind her. “I had been looking all over the academy for you, but could only find you here,” she stated, beaming a smile casually to Sayuri. “You must have been studying hard,” she added a remark, looking into the book.

A slight sense of guilt poked in from Sayuri’s lack of actual studying. “Amami-senpai…” Feeling rather unworthy, she shifted her gaze away from Haruka’s face. “You may have heard already, but I didn’t do very well in my auditions...” Sayuri put on a small smile, not wanting to show her depression.

“Eh, you didn’t?” Haruka asked, apparently surprised as she looked with an expression of utter confusion, before speaking, “I-It’s okay! We all lose from time to time,” she said, attempting to cheer up the poor girl, after noticing the depression from Sayuri.

Sayuri sat silently for a while, mulling over her upperclassman’s comment. I guess senpai also has times when she loses... Hoping for a clue that might re-motivate her, Sayuri broke the silence and asked, “Amami-senpai, what do you do when things don’t go well for you?”

“Hmm, let’s see...” Haruka mused openly as she took steps to the chair beside her, and pulled it up to sit over it. “I simply try to get over it, by thinking that there is a better future waiting for me – if I don’t wallow in despair all day,” Haruka said, a little puzzled about what she spoke herself, as she placed a finger under her lips. “After all, there are studies proving that when you’re sad; you don’t get things done properly. We idols must stay high-spirited! Or else our fans will feel what we’re going through, and it won’t be doing any good for them,” she stated with her fists clenched, with a look of determination. “We’re there to make them happy and encouraging them, not make them sad!”

“I guess that’s true…” Make them happy… Haruka’s words reminded Sayuri of what she said herself during her audition. Looking back on her last two performances, she suddenly realized that she had been so focused on simply presenting a perfect performance, that she forgot about the audience entirely. That still doesn’t excuse the mistakes in my dance though. But as Haruka said, moping wasn’t going to get Sayuri very far. “I suppose I too should try and †˜get over it’.”

“Mnm!” Haruka nodded cheerfully at Sayuri’s words; glad that they could be of help to her. “By the way, which auditions did you entered, anyway?”

“The New Students’ Fashion Show and also Ichigo’s Temporary Manager.” Sayuri replied.

“Ahh, those,” Haruka said, remembering names that0she had perhaps heard at least a few times, “The fashion show was made in a way that it would open many opportunities, while the other audition made special due to the reward of it was a great way for the winner to gain experiences,” she informatively stated. “It’s a shame you didn't pass, but there’s more to come… like that Pon-Pon Crepe audition!”

Pon-Pon Crepe… The name felt awfully familiar but Sayuri couldn’t quite remember where she had heard of it before. Putting the unimportant thought aside, Sayuri, still discouraged, spoke her mind. “I feel like I need a lot more practice before I take on another audition.”

“Then why not just practice?” Haruka said with much enthusiasm. “Efforts are what gives rise to the stature and foundation to an idol’s career! I’m sure that you’ll benefit from some hard work!” She encouragingly said. “Oh, I’m sorry if I’m too loud here… !” She said, toning down her voice after covering her mouth with both her hands.

Sayuri giggled at Haruka’s youthful cheer. “You’re right, senpai. All I need is to just keep practicing.” For the first time that day, the depressed girl finally felt like getting up and doing something. It almost seemed as if Haruka cast a magical spell on Sayuri that blew away the weight of her failures. Maybe this is what makes her a popular idol? “Thanks a lot for talking with me, I actually feel a lot better now!” Sayuri said as she stood up from her seat. “I think I’ll give that Pon-Pon Crepe audition a shot. If I win, promise me you’ll let me treat you to a meal as thanks?”

“Of course!” Haruka replied in a jolly manner. “I’ll be looking forward to it!” She said with a giggle. “You might wanna keep checking the news and articles of various magazines – they can be found online, too,” she added informatively pointing up an index finger. “Since you may find other interesting auditions, too. However, I’d advise to work on just one.”

“Yeah… I’ve learnt my lesson.” Even if taking on a challenge was a good thing, Sayuri was taught the hard way that over-challenging was just setting herself up to fail. “Thank you for the tip though, I’ll go look around the bulletin boards later.” On the note of idol information… When was the last time I checked Kirakiratter?” Another thing was added to the list of things to check.

“Alright, that’s great, and good luck!” Haruka said, abruptly getting off the chair. “I need to get going to get prepared to go out for some work,” she then passed by Sayuri from behind her, but stopped before leaving the table. “Oh and, here is a reward for you – who has finally cheered up!” She exclaimed lightly, placing down a single card before Sayuri over the table. It was named the Smile One-piece. A one-piece with a white and cyan colored stripe to the right, and a deep-blue section on the other side, with a round smiley-face badge decorating over the place of the left side of the chest. “See you around!” She waved her hand as she walked off… before falling on the ground accidentally – she ended up rubbing her buttocks after getting up, “ouch,” waving a hand dismissively with a smile towards Sayuri; ushering to her that she was alright with a giggle. Haruka wouldn’t go without making a solid impression, strangely enough – her clumsiness would be the main cause of it. Haruka soon left for real, however.

Recovering from her giggling fit, Sayuri called out to her leaving upperclassman. “Amami-senpai, thank you for the card!” Sayuri slotted the card into her AiSuma and admired the holographic projection. The Smile One-piece was somehow an oddly fitting cheer up gift, she thought; it was really cute as well. Turning off the projection, it was time to check the updates on Kirakiratter. I hope I haven't missed too much...

Charlotte and Iori at work:[/h]

It was the 4th of May. Today, Charlotte and Iori came to a store, they were both clad in the Starlight uniform. It was larger than expected. There was a golden takoyaki statue-like figure over the entrance which was a black door with a golden octopus symbol over it. As the two entered, they were greeted with an old man who smiled at them. A large store that only sold takoyaki… was rather unheard of. Usually such stores comes in the form of stalls. Iori, however, decided not to think much about it. They noted that the store had some customers, but not so much. Was this the reason why needed image girls for it?

“Welcome, welcome, I have been expecting the two of you!” He said, with his baritone voice. The man had a big built of a figure for a mere old man. Despite his age, he seemed to be plenty enthusiastic and energetic.

“We’re in your care today,” Iori replied with a smile, giving a bow.

“We’re in your care today,” Charlotte also gave a smile and gave a bow. “If I may ask what will be doing today sir?”

“Haha, well, come this way,” the man of the store said. “I got a room prepared for you two, I’ll share the details there,” he continued, walking; leading the way.

As they were lead into a room, to which the door lied to the corner of the eye upon entrance to the store; Charlotte and Iori found themselves in a rather spacious room. There were sofas all set around a transparent table. The furnitures seemed comfortable just from how they looked.

“Take a seat, you two,” the man said, motioning his hand towards the seat. “This is a VIP room. You see, even though I call this a takoyaki shop; I plan to sell all kinds of other food here, other than – crepes, or say, yakisoba breads, we already have those here, in fact! I want to expand the menu even more, however.”

“I take it you want us to help you advertise your new products then?”

“Well, that has to be it. It’s what image girls do,” Iori answered in the owner’s stead.

“Yes, I suppose so. In here, I want you girls to try out our products. Pick anything from the menu,” he said, “You can try whatever you want – free of cost – but at the end of it all; you’ll be having the special golden takoyaki; which only those from this room may have,” he explained. “I’ll be recording the video with this camera today,” he added, taking out a handy camera from his pocket, it was small and convenient. “The video will be put up in the internet for publicity. I’d love to do a commercial one day, but for now, I’ll have to be doing it like the rest of the small stores, haha!” he said, giving a hearty laugh, then gave two copies of the menu to the girls.

Charlotte took a quick look in the menu that were handed to them. “I’ll take the strawberry crepe please,” Charlotte said happily.

Iori smiled weakly at Charlotte, then peered into the menu. “I’d like this ordinary takoyaki, then,” Iori said. “It might help if I compare. I might be able to bring out the appeal of the special takoyaki,” she added.

The old man nodded with a big smile, then came back in a jiffy. “Here you go! One strawberry crepe, and takoyaki!” He placed the food in front of the two over the table. The strawberry crepe seemed more special than the ordinary ones that Charlotte always had. The takoyaki was apparently warm and squishy from its looks. The aroma made Iori impatient. “Unfortunately, I have to be the one delivering orders and recording. We’re heavily understaffed here…” he said, looking sad, as he picked up the camera from the table.

“Okay then, let’s start! I’m gonna roll the camera on now!” The old man said, he then pressed on a button. “Hello folks, this is the Light of the Stars – Golden Takoyaki shop!” He introduced. “Today, we have our two cute image girls who won our audition for it – Minase Iori-san and Charlotte-san!”

Iori and Charlotte waved their hands to the camera. With a smile, of course. “Today we’re gonna taste some of the food found from this menu here,” Iori explained. She had no script to follow, so she assumed that she was free to improvise her lines. “Please watch us as we taste these delicious looking food!”

”We’ll start with Iori-chan trying out their normal takoyaki from the menu. Then followed by me; trying out their strawberry crepe,” Charlotte said, delighted.

Iori then took up a thin stick before piercing the apparent meatball of the octopus, then scooping it up to her. Opening her mouth wide, she dipped it in without hesitation. She munched at it desperately. “Ah! Hot! Hot!” She squirmed and exclaimed; covering her mouth, as she blew out some hot air as she tried to chew it properly. Moments passed and Iori finally got rid of the excess heat stored inside her food.

She then made a bright smiling face. “Mnm!” Her eyes were starry, as she held her cheeks with both her hands; apparently in a dreamy-state. “The exterior is crusty, yet creamy with delicious mayonnaise and special sauce. The inside is also creamy. So good!”

Charlotte went ahead and picked up her strawberry crepe. She then took a bite from her crepe right, after which she gave it a few more speedy bites, and she could be seen smiling happily. “It’s so sweet and delicious,” Charlotte said as she then took another bite. “The strawberries are extra sweet and the chocolate and whipped cream in the crepe makes it even more delicious.”

“I’m so touched that they are so good!” The old man commented happily. “Well, keep ordering! I wouldn’t mind you tasting our other products! We got plenty, despite being a takoyaki shop!”

After a few food from the menu that the two tasted – all of which were definitely delicious – it was time for the main deal. “Alright, here it is – the Golden Takoyaki!”

Iori and Charlotte smiled brightly to it. It was truly golden. Iori wondered what he did to make it sparkly golden like this. Addition of color? She hoped not. Perhaps it was a special form of sauce and mayonnaise? She hoped so.

“Please try it out!” The old man seemed confident in this, the smile clearly showed it. He was proud of it.

Iori made an expression of determination. “Smells good!”

”It really does smell good,” Charlotte added after Iori; agreeing with her.

Iori then picked up one of the golden meatballs from the plate. “It’s so sparkly and golden,” she commented as she moved it closer. It then went straight to her mouth. After a moment – there was a battle between Iori and the rebelling heat of the food. “Hot!” She blowed the head out with her breathe like before, then chewed with a satisfied face. “No doubt about it, it’s especially good,” Iori said, apparently there was a light escaping from Iori’s face – who shined like the gold itself – her expression of dreamyness and wonder was a sight to behold.

Charlotte also picked up one of the golden meatballs from the plate, but before taking a bite; she blew on it to cool it down a bit. She then put into her mouth. Though she had blew on it to cool it down; the inside of the takoyaki was still hot. ”It’s really hot,” Charlotte said as she then covered her mouth with her hand and tried blowing a bit to cool down the takoyaki in her mouth. After a bit, she was able to swallow it. ”It’s really good, especially the sauce used on it.”

“I’m so touched! I knew it myself that it tastes great, but seeing is believing, I guess!” The owner said with pure joy. “You see, the reason I opened this store, is because I love to see people smile after eating something delicious. It all began after I saw my son and daughter’s smiles from having my takoyakis. That said, my daughter is a fan of yours, Iori-chan!”

“I see, so that’s how it is,” Iori smiled warmly at the owner. “I hope you get to see more of such smiles from now on,” she earnestly wished with a big smile. “Perhaps I should sign something for her,” she added.

”I hope you can keep making people smile with your food,” Charlotte said happily. ”Iori-chan sure does have a lot fans doesn’t she.”

“Ahh! I’d most appreciate if you two sign something. I’d personally want a sign from Charlotte-san here… haha,” the man said with a hearty laugh.

”I’ll be happy to sign something for you,” Charlotte said with a big smile.

“Hmmm, I don’t have those papers for signs but… I’m sure they’d love it if you sign on some of their precious things,” he said, making a mental note to grab them for Charlotte and Iori after finishing the recording. “That aside, I suppose it’s time to wrap this recording up,” he said.

“Thank you for the opportunity! The items here are really good!” Iori remarked, waving to the camera.

”Thank you very much for having us here, and thank you for the delicious food. I hope you invite us again.” Charlotte said as she waved at the camera.

“Well, this was the preview to all the other good food available in my takoyaki shop – Light of the Stars!” The recording was then saved, and the filming was stopped. “I’d invite you two again when we go big! Maybe we can do a commercial next time! Haha!!”

“I’ll look forward to that. It’s great to dream big!” Iori said, happy at the notion of a commercial. This was like sowing the seeds for the future. She was glad that she took up the audition with Charlotte in the first place.

“That would be very kind of you sir. We hope for the best for you.”

Charlotte and Iori then exited the store after waving to the owner. Charlotte was happy to know that she had a new fan now – the owner definitely seemed to like her now. Iori was quite satisfied from the food and the work. She felt energized; inspired to try harder than ever, and get more jobs.

The two then approached a black fancy car parked before them. It was Iori’s ride. “You wanna go anywhere? There’s class in session right now, but we can use this job excuse to maybe hang out somewhere,” Iori suggested.

“Let’s go to the park. Relaxing a bit is good especially after a job,” Charlotte said as followed Iori into the car.

“Alright then, the park it is.”

“Do you believe going on our uniforms will be fine? Charlotte asked as the car began driving off.

“Good idea, we should go shopping first,” Iori said as Charlotte sat.

“I never knew that just sitting in the park could be so relaxing,” Iori started, looking around. It was a lively park. Children were playing around. Teenagers were apparently jogging. Adults were watching the kids. “I should come here more.” As the two went shopping; they brought some normal coords for the occasional outing. They’d soon change back to their uniform after going back to the academy, but this was fun regardless.

Iori wore a pink dot-off shoulder for her top. White lacy skirt for her bottom, and a lavender-ribbon wedge sole for her get-up – some of the clothes she bought from a shop with Charlotte. Iori could feel the stares washing over her – which made her more feel confident about herself, as she showed a more prideful smile. Of course, Iori paid for everything, Charlotte didn’t have a cash card, unlike Iori. Charlotte on the other hand, wore a frill ensemble, pleats check skirt, and loafer – which was decorated with a ribbon and came with a pink long pair of socks.

Aomori, in her blue and white starlight workout outfit, was jogging through the park with a blank expression on her face. She was in autopilot-mode; just going through the motions as she ran. The audition kept playing again and again in her mind. Every missed line and every missed step in the routine played in her mind like a broken record. Suddenly, something caught her foot and she went tumbling down.

Looking back at her foot, she saw a soccer ball had been the culprit. Sitting up she grabbed the ball and sighed. A small boy ran up a moment later.

“Hey that’s mine! Give it back!” Aomori looked at the boy before handing him back the ball. The child stuck out his tongue before wandering off. Kids... she thought rubbing her knee. Taking breath she turned around to resume her exercise. That was when she saw two familiar figures sitting on the bench. Walking up to the bench Aomori called out.

“Hello Charlotte-senpai, Minase-senpai. I see you two are enjoying the park,” said Aomori wiping some sweat from her forehead.

“Ah, hello there, Tabi-san. Shouldn’t you be in class, now?” Iori asked, looking down to Aomori from gazing at the vast blue sky.

“Hello, Tabi-chan. How are you?” Charlotte said as she waved.

“I...I needed a break,” answered Aomori. “I’m just fine, probably just a bit restlessness.” She was hoping that neither of them noticed that lie. It was better that she not have people pity her.

“Really? It doesn’t really seem like it to me,” Charlotte said wondering what could be wrong.

“I’m sure it’s just your imagination,” she answered trying to force a smile. “It’s a nice day to go for a run.”

“You know Tabi-chan you don’t have to force yourself to lie. It’s written all over your face. You can tell us was wrong.”

“To think you’re hiding something from us senpais,” Iori said, reaching out to Aomori, then pulling her cheek. “Aren’t you getting little over your head?” She asked, apparently slightly irritated.

“Ow ow ow!” Aomori exclaimed rubbing her cheek after she was released. “That obvious, huh?” Looking down at her shoes she tapped her shoes together. “Just a bit bummed after my crappy performance is all.”

“You’re new; what do you expect? Glory off the bat?” Iori asked. Iori was the same in that manner. She was very expectant of herself, and expected praises from onlookers. She was wrong, however. It was never easy. Countless efforts had to be put to make even the slightest of progress.

“You don’t have to say it like that, Iori-chan, but what she said is true. You shouldn’t have expected victory from your first performance. You should use this opportunity to learn from your mistakes and better yourself instead. You shouldn’t put yourself down over one loss.”

“Ya, I know…” answered Aomori. “But I kinda wanted to make at least a decent first show! It was a tragedy…”

“I almost tripped in my first show, twice,” Iori confessed. “A decent performance… is a feat in itself,” she stated. “I don’t know about you, but there’s a lot of popular idols that did badly in their first few performances. So, cheer up.”

“I forgot quite a few lines in my first performance and forgot a lot of the steps as well” Charlotte said with a small laugh. “Just keep practicing and keep believing in yourself and you will win next time and have a better performance.”

“You girls sure know how to make someone feel better,” said Aomori feeling a little relieved. It was to nice to hear that others had similar trouble with their first times. With where Iori and Charlotte were now in terms of skill you would never guess it. “Still need to run off that ice cream though…” said Aomori. “Why is it so amazing when you are feeling down!”

“You know what? I have something to show you. Come to our room tonight,” Iori said, as if making a big decision.

“You do?” Charlotte asked slightly confused.

“What time should I show up?” asked Aomori curious as to what she could have to show her late at night.

“Evening, about 7pm should be fine,” Iori answered, she then turned to Charlotte, “I suppose I’ll let you see it, too. Since you’re still catching up to me. It’s what inspired me to try even harder after I entered this academy,” she explained.

“This should be interesting, I always thought you just naturally always tried harder.”

“Ichigo-chan once told me †˜behind your every success, there are countless idols weeping behind the scenes’, she then asked me if I had what it took to revel in that light of victory, and carry on the feelings of those who couldn’t make it,” Iori said, looking back to her past. “Do you think you can, in due time, Tabi-san?”

“Yes,” answered Aomori with a determined expression. At that point she had no idea if she could back it up. She would give it her best try however, without a doubt. ”I will be there at 7 sharp!”

Iori smiled at the determination. The world will see if you truly can. Good luck. Many had fallen. Only a few who truly worked hard stuck out, like Iori herself. Some kept trying, over and over till they made it. Then there were the others that failed despite putting in appropriate amount of effort and sweat into their dream. The last tier was of those gifted individuals that worked tirelessly behind the scenes where none could see – despite possessing more than average talent – the few of those who were the diamonds in the rough. Iori was excitedly to find out where Aomori, and her dear friend, Charlotte, belonged.

It was seven in the evening, and Aomori found herself before Iori and Charlotte’s room in the dormitory. After a round of nervous knocks; Iori opened the door. “Ah. Good evening, Tabi-san,” she greeted, finding Aomori just outside the door. Iori wore a pink top and a violet pleated skirt, along with a matching headband. “Let’s wait for Charlotte outside, she’s still preparing… not that she really needed to,” she said.

Aomori was in a black blouse, short white skirt, and black stockings with dark brown ankle boots. A dark blue hair bands kept her hair out of her face. “Evening.” said Aomori with a slight bow.

Once finished Charlotte open the door. She was wearing a long pink dress with a white ribbon around her waist. “Good Evening, Tabi-chan. Excuse the delay please come in.”

“Um, Charlotte, we’re going out, not in?” Iori asked, puzzled, tilting her head with confusion.

Aomori stepped forward about to enter the dorm before Iori spoke up. Looking between the two she wore a confused expression. “Wait what are we doing?” asked Aomori.

“Really? That would explain why I don’t know what you were talking about earlier. You could have at least told me we were going out.”

“Well, if it’s something that inspired me, it wouldn’t really be inside that room right?” Iori said, putting up her arms as if to shrug, stating the obvious. “We’re going to the underground storage section tonight, I actually have permission.”

“I thought it was something that you hid away.”

”What do they keep in underground storage?” asked Aomori. The closest thing she had to that was her basement at home. Everything in there was useless to her so she never explored it.

“Well, lots of tools and props are kept, as well as cleaning equipments,” Iori answered. “Anyway, let’s go,” she said. With her stuffed rabbit doll taken up, she was ready to go.

With that explanation she still wasn’t sure what kind of secrets she was about to be show, but she knew that Iori wouldn’t be taking her there for no reason. As she followed behind Iori she turned to Charlotte. “Are you coming, senpai?” she asked.

“Right behind you.” Charlotte said as she followed behind Iori and Aomori.

The corridor was dark and empty. The lights were dim and hazy. The air was cold and chilly. The underground section, which was basically full of store rooms was a maze for new students. There’s a story somewhere in the internet that Hoshimiya Ichigo was once lost here, too.

“This place is kind of spooky,” said Aomori with a shiver. The underground area was colder than she expected and she wasn’t wearing many layers. I wish I brought a jacket... she thought.

“Makes me wonder if Iori-chan gets her scary story from here.” Charlotte said as she looked around.

“It’s around here…” Iori said, looking around, taking brisk steps along with the others. “Ah, there it is,” she remarked, running ahead to a window on the wall ahead. Light seemed to be peeking out of it. Bright lights…

Walking up behind Iori she got close, and looked out of the window with her curiously still not quite sure what to expect. Following behind them Charlotte went up to the window wondering what Iori was talking about.

“Ne daitan wo watashi ni oshiete? Kore ja tarinai no mada hikiyosetai.”

A crystal clear voice sang out. Upon closing in on the window, the three could hear the beats and the buzzing noise of the song playing within the room. There lied a pink round stage. There were bright lightings that absolutely blazed the studio past the window. With a flung of the countless strands of her hair – a figure danced under this intense shower of lightings; her shadow clearly visible. It was an idol. An idol who literally shined on stage.

“She’s here, even tonight,” Iori muttered. “This is what I wanted to show you, her dance moves are elegant and beautiful, right?”

“She’s amazing.”

Aomori strained her eyes trying to see who it was performing on stage, but the lights left only a silhouette of the idol. The performance even from that however was spectacular. “W-who is it?”

The song ended as Charlotte and Aomori were absorbed into the scene, while Iori smiled widely, not quite answering Aomori till the song ended. “You’ll find out now,” she said, knocking the door.

After a moment, the door was opened. A pigtailed figured drenched in sweat came out walking. Her hair was copper red, and her eyes; gray. She was tall, taller than the girls present, anyway. Despite panting, she tried to make a smile. It was Kujikawa Rise. “Ah… you were watching, Minase-san? Why didn’t you knock sooner?”

“I couldn’t possibly disturb you,” Iori answered. “As you two know, this is Kujikawa Rise-san. Kujikawa-san, this is Charlotte, and Tabi Aomori-san,” she introduced the two parties to each other.

“Good evening, Kujikawa-san it’s nice to meet you.” Charlotte said giving a curtsy. “You were amazing out there.”

“You were great!” exclaimed Aomori clapping her hands. “You sure chose a spooky place to train though…”

“Ah. I’ve heard of you two,” Rise said. Her hands joined to her chest. “It’s nice to meet you two,” she said. “I actually share this underground studio with a classmate, you see,” she replied to Aomori. “The equipments here are nice, and there aren’t many who’d come here,” she continued. “Although it gets lonely here sometimes,” she added before giggling.

“But it seems to be a great place to practice if you want alone time.”

“Yes, I just stated that...” Rise said, her voice trailed off.

Charlotte blushed and got quieter. She admitted, she had trouble with speaking even now. Sometimes, she’d speak unnecessarily while trying to express her princess act further. This extra effort was starting to backfire on her part.

“Would it be ok if I came here too?” asked Aomori.

“You may wanna ask for the Headmistress’ permission,” Rise replied, with an endearing smile. “I am actually the second person to be borrowing this underground studio,” she added, apparently slightly worried. “And she is known as the Underground Sun. Her dancing is quite formidable, as well,” she said, quite impressed even now as she pictured said idol’s dance moves.

“U-underground Sun?” said Aomori. There are so many great dancers here. I have to start putting in work too! she thought with a determined expression. “I will be sure to ask. I need to practice.”

Charlotte pondered. The Underground Sun? That Underground Sun?! If she remembered correct, it’s Hikari who carried this nickname and she hardly ever visited the classroom. It so turned out that they shared the classroom, and that Iori and herself had associated themselves with her as mere classmates. Well, she did, actually. To Iori, she was a rival. She looked to Iori, and noticed a very determined expression, Iori might’ve begun reminiscing the moments they competed on stage.

“Mnm… just look up her videos, and you’ll know why she is called that,” Rise said. “Why not talk to the Headmistress if you really want to borrow this studio from time to time?” She suggested. “I’ll put in my word to her, too, if that helps you,” she added, beaming a kind smile.

“Do you think I can try to borrow this room, too?” Charlotte asked, wanting to use a fancy studio such as this. This might be a chance to catch up to Iori-chan… she pondered.

Rise, however, shook her head to her in response. “I’d advise you to work on your acting, instead,” she said. “Only those exceptionally talented in dancing are allowed for this, that includes those who carries the potential,” she added. This was clearly a motivational factor for Aomori. “Your field is truly that of the acting, yes? You must focus more on that – Charlotte-san.”

“I’m going to look up all those videos~!” exclaimed Aomori. She was too excited at seeing another great dancer that she was barely paying attention anymore.

“Yeah, just talk to the Headmistress first,” Rise said. “If you get the permission, and catch me around; I might give you some lessons, too,” she said with a wink.

“Lessons from Kujikawa-san…” Charlotte uttered, as if it was a dream come true. The very thought of it was alluring to say the least. However, she had a better field of expertise to work on – acting and character-making.

“I’d say, that’s a treat,” Iori said, absolutely jealous of the offer. She reminded herself how the Headmistress outright said no when she wished to get permission to practice in this particular studio. Hikari, at that time, pretty much booked most of this studio, and practiced almost all day long.

“Thank you! I hope that I get permission…” Aomori said. She would accept any help she could get in order to become the dancer that she always dreamed of being. With Rise putting in a good word for her she had her hopes high.

“Good luck!” Rise said. “I think it’s late for you three, however. You should all go back to your rooms and catch your sleep, otherwise I’ll be blamed,” Rise said with a chuckle as she pictured Headmistress Orihime lecturing them.

“I suppose she’s right, we’d be in trouble if the Headmistress catches us walking around the campus at night,” Iori said, having remembering how she was caught and asked to get the appropriate amount of rest she required as an idol – which she fully acknowledged to be an essential factor for idols.

Charlotte nodded. “That’s right, we should head to bed, you too – Kujikawa-san,” she said, beckoning the third-top idol to also get her rest.

Rise shook her head with a weakened smile. “I’m going to be practicing more. I have permission for this, anyway. It’s my only time I can be here, after all,” she said, before waving her hands at the girls. “Good night,” she said before entering the studio, and closing the door.

“I see…” Charlotte said, feeling slightly upset that this person was actually allowed to stay up. Rather, she was skipping a valuable time for rest! Should she be doing that? Regardless, it wasn’t her place to speak any more if the Headmistress permitted it. “Good night,” she said before turning, she gave a deep bow towards her for spending some of her precious time with them.

”Thanks again! Goodnight!” exclaimed Aomori. Looking down the hallways that they came in she forgot how cold it was. He heart was aflame with the new possibilities before her. With luck she might just make it, after all.

“Good night, Kujikawa-san,” Iori said with a terse bow, before leaving with the others.

A Special Meeting in the Park: [/h]

May 4th, Christina sat over a bench in the park. She viewed the vivid greenery with a listless look on her face; as if in a trance. The performance she displayed in the audition loomed over her head. Her flawful walk always came to mind. Would it have been any different if she had practiced much more intensively, or would the results be the same just because she wasn’t a prodigy-tier rookie idol? The reaction from the masses were below lackluster. There was a weak level of cheering from the crowd, as if responding only out of courtesy and pity. Some may had even stopped looking at the performance full of missteps. The fear of such possibilities haunted her, and she feel the exit to the idol world nearing with every moment. She couldn’t find the motivation to pull herself together; what could possibly solve this predicament?

At such a moment, she found an ice cream before her. A nice-looking creamy substance; it’s mango-flavored scent wafted to her nose. She looked up to find a familiar face she had recently gotten acquainted with. “Hello there, Haramu-san,” a voice said. She knew this person. Not so much, but enough to remember. She is assigned as her upperclassman, after all – it was Kujikawa Rise. Just like Chris; Rise too, wore the uniform of the academy, as well as a gentle and serene smile. “I had been calling out to you, but you were spacing out; so I thought that an offering to my young kouhai would do the trick,” she added, her lips stretching wider with glee. “Oh. I apologize if mango isn’t a flavor you like.”

“Kujikawa-san... sorry about that…” Chris responded, eyes full of wonder at the sight of her upperclassman, and the ice cream. She slowly took the orange colored item and began to lick at it. Only to sigh afterwards as she lowered it onto her lap, using both hands to keep it from spilling. “Have you seen any of my performances yet? I was hoping maybe you could tell me what you thought..."

“Mnm, your performance, mn?” Rise said. Unfortunately, she hadn’t the time due to her busy schedule. When she was finally free, it escaped her mind that she was supposed to check for the recording posted on Starlight Academy’s main webpage. “I’m sorry, it somewhat escaped my mind. When I got the time; I ended up coming here to relax,” she continued, taking a seat beside Chris. Rise then flipped out her AiSuma, and pressed on a few buttons before the holographic displayed flew out from the device on her palms; it showed the performance Chris gave in the fashion show audition.

The performance played out. As the streaming of the footage progressed, there was a stern and concerned expression plastered over Rise’s face. After about a minute; the video ended. Rise then smiled towards Chris, and simply patted her. “Cheer up, you did what you could out there,” she started with providing a consolation to the poor girl, then continued. “I feel like you need to do quite a lot of walking practice first. Followed by an immense amount of stretching – before you do dance practices too,” she advised calmly. “What your body needs first and foremost are not skills; but stamina and grace. This is most likely why you were struggling with your steps. However, to answer; I really thought you were giving it your all – that is my honest opinion.”

It wasn't as though Chris was expecting that Rise cared enough to see it, but she just thought she may have happened to give it a passing glance at best. “Got the time.... it must be nice to be so busy like that…” Since coming, Chris hadn't done anything worthwhile. She's failed her auditions, and she just happened to get a few good grades now and then. But no offers, no jobs, no nothing...

Watching Rise, Chris observed her as she took out her AiSuma and began to check out the performance now. It seemed to humiliate Chris enough to use her legs to hold the ice cream cone, just to put her hands over her eyes, just glad that nobody was watching it with them.

“I know I did... I've been training a lot since being here and it feels like it hasn't even helped. I wasn't expecting to win... but knowing that my performances can't even reach at least one person is what makes me feel like I failed. I think I’m the only new entrant without any fans at all.”

“I think that’s a little too early to say that,” Rise said, with a weakened smile, replying to her statement regarding fans. It was hardly possible to know just who admired a performance, while the opposite would usually be as plain as day from viewing the sea of eyes of disappoint. Her negativity was hard to break – Rise felt. “Well, if that amount of training wasn’t enough; it means that it simply wasn’t enough,” Rise stated in a matter of factly manner. “Did you happen to be born with the disposition of a weak body, perchance?” Rise asked as she placed her hand under her chin; looking at Chris’ figure analytically.

“I know... I guess I should have said any positive fan reception instead.” At this point Chris' tone had been rather bitter. It wasn't like she hadn't been trying to improve, and she knew being like this wasn't helping at all but she just couldn't help it for the time being. If she needed to be sad then she had to be sad for a while. “I've spent all of my free time training just about. I also took on extra training... how isn't it enough when that's already too much for my body to handle...?” By now she was getting frustrated with Rise. After all, how was she to know what it was like to be rejected by practically everyone?

It was then her expression became blank. “Er.... yeah, I was. What does that have to do with anything though? I've been trying to fix it.”

“It may just be the case that you need to double the hard work. Yet the toll may overwhelm you. Hmm,” Rise pondered intently before speaking again; taking the liberty to think for a few moments. “I suppose you should simply take your time working the issue of your body,” she stated. Unfortunately, or rather, fortunately – Rise wasn’t born with a weak body, so she wasn’t so experienced in that subject. She, however, did know quite a lot of… trivias? Of course she would. But that wasn’t going to help Chris so easily in this case. “Anyway, can you show me your walking here and now?”

Chris remained quiet for a while again and used this time to finish her melting ice cream. Due to the warm weather, ice creams never lasted too long in direct heat, or outside, like they would normally. “My walk?” It was a strange request but since Rise told her that she needed to work on it, it made some sense.

Chris sighed and got up, walking some feet from Rise and the bench so that she could observe her. She rubbed her arm with one of her hands while glancing to the ground for a moment, then when she had an idea she slowly lowered both hands, letting them perk on the ends just slightly and began to walk. It held a sign of shyness and meekness. As if devoid of confidence. Slow but at least reserved.

“I see. Stop for a bit there,” Rise said after taking a look. Then took out a book from the bag that she placed to her side – from when she sat on the bench initially – before walking up to Chris, and placing it atop her head. “Alright. Now, try to walk again,” she said as she folded her arms over her chest with an intent look on her face.

Chris tried walking again. It was already tough having to pull off a work like this in the public before Rise, but now she topped the issue over with a book resting above her head. The task of balancing was one she executed in a horrid manner – before it outright fell off her head after a slight walk.

“Your sense of balance is off, as I thought,” Rise said, apparently her observation was done. “You need a lot of walking practice, it seems.”

Chris winced as the book landed on the stone ground with a thud. It's pages bent, the spine facing them. “Walking practice?”, she asked while gently bending over to pick it up. "But I don't really know how to practice that... other then maybe walking those balance beams... but what is the chance of the Academy having those? Maybe what I need is a drawn line or something..."

“Balance beams… if I remember correctly; we have a few somewhere in the gym,” Rise said, apparently unsure herself as she placed a finger under her lips as she faced the trees. “But for starters; I think you should simply practice walking in any straight-line paths you find,” she said. After all, a beginner would surely fall and only injure themselves if they tried the balance beams early on. “Try out the postures that the models would usually try for whenever you’re walking… albeit that may be a little too much. It really depends on you, I suppose. Your physical constitution may need some work, too,” she spoke further, still uncertain. “I’d recommend doing some jogging first before anything, then practicing the model walking. It’s best to have a solid foundation, yes?” Rise advised with a sheepish smile. “Oh, right, and watch Shibuki Ran closely, if you ever see her. She is a model in every breath of her life.”

“Okay, so... my walking, my steps... grace... none of it is any good.” Chris muttered while glancing to the ground. She seemed to be studying for any lines in the ground, or any little thing that would be considered worthy of practice. Most of it was a bit too confusing though, considering most of it was composed of brick and grass.

“Um... alright! I know, I'll head back to the Academy and change. I'll do some stretches and go for a jog before it gets too late. Then maybe I can um... draw a line or something to practice on. When I have a chance, maybe I can watch Shibuki-san perform or something.”

“I’m sorry if I sound a little too random,” Rise said, rubbing the back of her head with a defeated smile. “It’s just that I know too little about you, so I’m telling you everything that could possibly help.”

“It's fine, I know you're just trying to help me.” Chris stated with a hand wave. “Someone pathetic like me needs all the help I can get for now. But one day I'll make everyone realize even the most pathetic can become a lovely idol too!” With that Chris bowed and thanked Rise, telling her "maybe one day you'll even come to see me really perform. Anyway, I'm off! Bye bye!"

“Um… okay, bye… !?” By the time Rise finished, Christina was long ago, as she looked with a hint of sadness at the sight of her back. †˜Someone pathetic’ she claimed… such deprecating words would only push down an idol. She needed to think of a way to truly cheer up the girl. Unfortunately, she didn’t know how, as it was the first time she faced such a depressed person.

The Melancholy of Koyama Koyuki:[/h]

Also the 4th of May; class had just ended some time ago. Koyuki sat on the place she met Ichigo days ago. She remembered how she found Ichigo leaning against the pillar to her right, as she stared intently at it; wondering if she’d come here today. Despite keeping up with the latest news and information, she wished deeply for it. That was a hopeless wish, however. She was well aware that Ichigo would be busy today. The circular ceiling sheltered her from the scorching sunlight. So she could wait as long as she pleased. She didn’t particularly feel like doing anything today.

Ever since that face off against Tadaima Hiyori – that day when she gave it her all – Koyuki had been depressed at the face of the loss.

Soon enough, she found herself staring at the setting sun. Just how long had she been seated here listlessly? She herself didn’t quite know the answer to that. At such a moment, she heard advancing footsteps.

“So this is where you were,” a familiar voice spoke. Soon, she found feel a figure sitting beside her. Koyuki turned to look into her eyes; it was Chinami. “Headmistress told me that you had been cooped up here all day,” she begun, looking towards the mesmerizing sunset. “What’s up?”

“Nothing,” Koyuki said, more monotonous than ever if that was possible. She didn’t want to talk about it.

“Is that so… ? How did the audition go?” Chinami asked. Something that Koyuki’s face gave away that she wasn’t her usual silent self. There was more to it than what implied. Chinami was sure of it.

“I didn’t get it,” Koyuki said simply.

Chinami closed her eyes and smiled. “Nothing wrong with that, right?” She replied. “Not many win in their first audition, after all,” she added.

Koyuki sighed, “It’s just… irritating.”

“Well, it’s irritating for everyone, obviously,” Chinami replied. She took a moment to come up with something before she spoke again. “I personally feel that being irritated is fine; you can use that feeling to try harder in order to move on.”

“But,” Koyuki began, before trailing off, “But what if I never make it?” she said quietly. “I was really trying my best out there,” Koyuki clenched her fist.

“That entirely depends on you,” Chinami answered earnestly as she smiled; looking back at how she relentlessly tried hard and never gave up; all while striving up to keep up with Ichigo. “Perhaps it wasn’t enough? Your Aikatsu has hardly started; it’s too soon to think about that.”

“You’re right,” Koyuki admitted, “I’ve just got to try even harder. Thank you, Eita-san.”

“Good, good, I see that you’re finally cheering up!” Chinami stated, apparently feeling that Koyuki was lightening up. Somewhat. She then handed a set of three cards to Koyuki. “Here’s a little something from me,” she said, “Techno Style Jersey, Cyber Pleats Skirt, and Cyber Rubber Boots – normal coords, but you were short in normal coords, I believe? I think you’ll be able to put these into good use in the future!”

“Eita-san!” Koyuki said showing a look of surprise for a second before returning to her usual blank look, “Thank you very much.” Koyuki bowed in thanks to her senior Idol.

“I’m glad that you liked them!” Chinami replied, delighted to find an actual change in Koyuki’s expression. “I have to go and get my rest now. Take care now,” Chinami said as she stood up, then waved before walking away.

Koyuki waved back, “See you,” she called as Chinami started to disappear from view.

Haruna’s Dilemma and Madeko’s Falling Confidence:[/h]

The fifth of May, Haruna sat over a chair in the cafeteria. It was the lunch time in Starlight Academy. She sat alone. She felt as though it was proof that she hardly made friends here in the academy, so far. That is, until Madeko walked over to her table to take a seat opposite to her. It almost felt as though she was her saving grace – Haruna thought, feeling all happy-go-lucky. Recently, the two were defeated thoroughly in their auditions. Their performances just weren’t good enough. They wondered if they even had a chance of winning – even if there weren’t any other good performers, save for them. It was embarrassing to say the least.

Haruna still remembered exclaiming †˜safe!’ while she danced in the audition to attempt to become Hoshimiya Ichigo’s manager. Thinking of this now made her cheeks flush up uncontrollably. She was still clueless as to how her teacher; Asakura Miwa left the performance hall when she witnessed the utter failure of an idol. She also did badly in her other audition apparently – the fashion show, more specifically. At least, she felt that she did moderately fine. Some would say †˜ignorance is bliss’ at this point, to Haruna.

On the other hand, Madeko could picture the performances she gave. She wondered how many people stopped watching half-way. There were so many flaws and mistakes; it seemed as though she hardly practiced for it. It made her feel hopeless. It may be pointless to keep trying. Who knows what kind of humiliation and failure lied in the future. Madeko fell to a pit of depression as she wailed internally. She didn’t even feel like getting off her bed, and come over for class. Yet something inside her refused to give in, ending up making her legs carry her over to the building from the dormitory.

Madeko stared at her tray. There wasn’t anything special in it, to her food was just… food. She stared blankly, wondering if she really did deserve to stay in Starlight Academy, otherwise how long. Resting both elbows on the tabletop, Madeko held her face in her hands and sighed.

Haruna took notice to this and passed a hand of comfort of Madeko. “What's the matter Madeko-chan?” She said softly, feeling her gloomy aura from across the table. From that day they met Haruna was so used to seeing her roommate's pearlescent smile-- seeing her like this now made her uneasy, something was definitely wrong.

“It’s...nothing, Haru-chan,” Madeko said, her face still in her hands. She didn’t want to down the mood of anyone else with her own inadequacy. “Just a bit overwhelmed.” She parted her face from her hands, then leant towards the table, staring at her tray.

“Oh? From the fashion show?” Haruna questioned. From what what she could recall Madeko was among the girls who didn't do so well, unlike the rest Haruna wasn't so bereaved from her lackadaisical performance. She saw it as a chance to correct her mistakes, besides moping over a failure will not gain one progress over anything-- she thought. She clapped a hand over Madeko’s forehead as she was annoyed by her attitude. “Deko-Chan, you won't get anywhere being being all gloomy like that!” Haruna exclaimed sincerely as she's ever been the remainder of of her stay in Starlight. “Do what I do and keep on going, no matter what happens!”

“D-Dekooooooo….” Madeko groaned. “To be honest, it wasn’t just the Fashion Show, it was most, no- -all- of my auditions I was in…”

“Maybe I didn’t prepare enough… I was pretty weak even during lessons, after all.” Madeko stated, now slumped over the table. She knew that she wouldn’t do well, but doing this badly gave her a huge shock. In this she knew she wasn’t a match for anyone else, yet. “But that’s enough about me I guess, how did Haru-chan fare?”

Haruna made made a flatulence sound with her lips, just thinking about her performance made her feel ill. “I'd rather not talk about it,” She said slumping into her chair as well. “Same as you, I guess.”

“S-Still! You passed your entry audition and got into Starlight Academy-- we both did, not many girls can say that, y'know.” Haruna stressed the girls' worth.

”That was luck, mostly...” Madeko looked down. ”Honestly, even I’m surprised that I made it.”

Madeko rested her cheek on one hand elbow against the table. Contemplating, she closed her eyes, as if she wanted to go back to reality, however realizing the obvious. ”But I guess that’s what matters, after all.” She let a thought out of her mind. ”That I’m here, and you are, too.”

“Mhm!” Haruna shook shook her head in sheer self righteousness. She was happy to see that her words had gotten through to Madeko at all if not a little.

“I wonder how you stay motivated even despite setbacks...” Then again, this was Madeko’s first real failure as anything she’d been, so she wasn’t surprised she’d be this attached about it.

“I...get some help,” Haruna replied. She smiled weakly as she looked down at the the table. “You always gotta have something to keep you going, Deko-Chan.”

”Must be nice, getting help…” Madeko started to take a small bite out of her food. ”I’ve been with myself most of the time for the most part until now, so I guess I can only help myself here, I guess,” she said after finishing chewing. For some very odd reason, Madeko couldn’t digest any more of her food, much less what has been happening. Not even half of her food went through had she pushed her tray away from her. Cleaning her lips with a piece of tissue she sighed again.

“What †˜helping myself here’? As your assigned senpai – I am inclined to help,” a voice spoke from behind Madeko – before her cheeks were caught and pulled upon. “Isn’t it you who keeps it all to herself instead of calling out for help?” She said, taking a wild yet accurate guess regarding the rookie idol she was speaking to. Madeko recognized the voice. It was Eli. The strikingly blue-eyed blonde idol graced her with presence yet again. She wore a frown and a strict air around herself as she let go of Madeko. “If you really need help, why not just say it?”

Madeko grimaced. ”Sooooooooorrrryyyyyyyyy………..” while hitting her hand against the table, trying to make Eli stop, but the result was obvious. Her bouncy cheeks were left swollen and red.

“Yeouch, that looks like it hurts…” Haruna said under her breath at the mysterious girl. “Who might you be?” She questioned while she tilted her head to the side all the while maintaining her rosey smile.

“Ah, are you a friend of Amaiya-san?” Eli said, facing the girl on the other side of the table, her stern expression dropped as she did so. “I am a second year student here – Ayase Eli – I was assigned to Amaiya Madeko-san here, to help her out,” she explained. “Thank you for taking care of her,” she courteously added with a bow.

Haruna was taken aback by her sudden change in her attitude. From stern to well-mannered in almost an instant. “I-It’s no problem at all, I’m just helping a friend,” she said waving her hand to the girl. “It’s nice to meet you though, Saotoshi Haruna is the name,” she saluted to Ayase.

“I see, it’s nice to meet you too,” Eli said, replying with a smile. “Amaiya-san, what’s your schedule after class, today?”

After finishing her food Haruna bolted from the table. “Well, I’ll leave you guys to talk about… whatever you’re gonna talk about, my senpai is probably looking for me, as well. See ya!” She waved goodbye to the two and skipped out of sight.

”Mmmmm, I guess nothing for now, yet…” Madeko wanted to avert her gaze from Eli’s and hide her dire state from her lest she jests. She felt like her performance was all due to her incapabilities, and didn’t want to burden her senpai with extra †˜duties’. Leaning against the table once more her face returned to the usual, void of expression.

“...You aren’t hiding anything from me, are you?” Eli asked, a frown with a look of suspicion arose from her face as she stared into Madeko from the side. “Don’t forget now; trust comes first. And that’s only possible when you’re honest,” Eli advised, before smiling to her.

”Definitely.” Madeko gave the slightest of smiles. ”I did fail both of my auditions just now, but I guess that’s nothing to matter?” Madeko tried to make a sarcastic remark while not being too stern as to not disrespect, but realised her mistake.

”---I mean, everyone fails once in a while…”

“Oh...” Eri was at a loss of words for a moment. She vividly remembered her loss in the first audition she tried to win, too. It was never easy. But everyone needed to move on from it! Being all mopey or depressed about it wouldn’t solve a thing. “That’s alright,” she said. “It’s alright,” she smiled sweetly and kindly. “Just use that frustration, take it out while training and practicing; it helps,” she advised, apparently speaking from past experiences. “Most of the idols lose their first auditions, anyway,” she said, a painful experience lied behind the smile she portrayed to the young fledgling idol.

”Well, I don’t do very well in practices either,” Madeko reminisced at her first-time experience with the cameras as well as the robot.

“Maybe because you’re not putting enough effort? Or is it that you lack motivation in general?” Eli asked, tilting her head questioningly.

”Well, if you put it like that, I guess…” Madeko couldn’t help but to agree, as she had little to no excuse to save her from her miserable performances. ”I guess I hadn’t prepared enough.”

”It’s still hard to believe I made it past the auditions, and doing what I do here,” she winced. ”Being normal is what I do best, after all.”

“Will you get over the subtle act of self-depreciation and instead work on your flaws?” Eli asked, furrowing her brows, implying that she saw enough of this. “Those words aren’t gonna make you shine on stage. Not to mention that just working hard, or trying to, doesn’t cut it. Not for us idols, anyway. What cuts it is pure motivation. It helps if you can just have fun instead of overthinking.”

”It’s not something I can just get over like that, Ayase-sama,” Madeko said. ”I can try, but it would take me a long time. I am having fun, but only if fun allows me to have it…” Her gaze veered away.

”That said, I do enjoy performing, it’s just… hard to describe the feeling of wanting to do something, but you can’t. Madeko squinted, not sure whether she phrased it right. ”It’s tough, but somehow it’s fulfilling.”

Eli sighed. “Oh, is that so?” Eli asked, a bitter smile showed through her face as she pulled up her AiSuma from her pocket. “Then, allow me to see you having †˜fun’ as you claim,” she said, pressing a few icons over the display screen of the phone. A hologram soon showed itself hovering out from the AiSuma as Eli played a certain video. It was Madeko’s performance. It was her performance for the fashion show audition.

Five seconds into the video, and Eli already found herself commenting, “you don’t look like you’re having fun at all,” she said from looking at her expression. Eli was more than bored as she placed the phone in the middle of the table, then rested her head over her hand, which she placed over the table in a dull manner as she looked into the video. She could already see some people not looking towards the performer anymore – people were almost starting to just converse among themselves; waiting for the next performer. Eli didn’t allow the video to finish, but she watched most of it before pressing on a button to stop the video – making the hologram vanish. “You started late, your walk was a disaster, and you even fell,” Eli commented, pointing out her obvious errors. She didn’t know what to think of it, she thought Madeko would at least pull off a decent performance.

”I did, really hard, didn’t I… couldn’t believe it either, but what happens happens,” Madeko tried to keep her embarrassment of having her none other than her own senpai watching her hideous performance. ”Well, at least I still sang… a little.

“...Are you fine with being like that?” Eli asked, as if to confirm Madeko’s resolution. Not that she felt any of it from the girl to begin with, she tried to look the other way till she’d develop it, initially. Some girls do like to become an idol on a whim, after all. “Hmm,” she pondered. “It seems like you lack the more basic skills, plus you’re over-cautious. To top that off, you’re too self-depreciative, and the list doesn’t even end there… when’s your next audition? There’s no choice; I’ll help you with your prepping work for it,” she said, coming to a conclusion on how to spend her free times. “There’s some time before the Marine Cool Girl audition begins, so I have time for this, at least.”

”Really?” Madeko was surprised she would receive help from who she knows is one of the coldest people, at least for now. ”I’ve never received proper dance training in my entire life, so I might be a bit underperforming…” She tried to put emphasis on the fact that she’s really -never- got anything special when it comes to dance. ”But I’ll hope to at least endure it till the very end. I should- no, I must.” Knowing full well she’s in a bad position against all of her peers, Madeko needed to make something happen. ”So that I won’t disappoint the both of us.”

”I don’t know when the next audition is, by the way.”

Eli nodded with a firm expression to Madeko’s words. She’d need to get over this. If she couldn’t, she’d be kicked out of the industry in no time in this brutal world of idols. The fact that she’s still lasting is due to be able make to Starlight Academy… through some kind of a miracle. That miracle couldn’t save her twice; she’d need to get over this wall with pure efforts of her own. With a little push; Eli felt this could be possible. A human body is adaptable; anyone can do anything!

“Right now it’s the lunch period, so we obviously can’t begin the training now – it’s an improper time for it,” Eli stated, looking at the time shown at the corner of her AiSuma’s display image. “Meet me in the last dancing room on the corridor. I’m sure that you’ll know it when you see it,” she said, taking down her frown and strict face. “As for the auditions...” she drew up her AiSuma again to show her an image via the holograms. “I’ve actually done some research on auditions that are suitable for rookie idols… or well, doable, at least. The first one is this,” Eli said, as the hologram showed the image of Kiriya Aoi clad in Prism Cyber Coord. A coord that glittered, just as the name in silver shiny font did; stating †˜Glittering Web Girl’ audition. The smaller description in the image below stated that it’s hosted by Futuring Girls, and is being judged by the top designer, and Kiriya Aoi and Kamishiro Rei. The performances are net lives where only streamers will be the viewers. The winner would be able to promote a certain new website that plans to sell Aikatsu products.

The two names that Eli mentioned didn’t sound any familiar to Madeko. She didn’t know exactly who they were, nor did she remember meeting them at all. Maybe they were idols of equal standing to Ichigo’s. This girl shone on the hologram in all colours of blue. Nevertheless, the thought of having only net viewers watch the audition was a bit of good news to Madeko, as she’d prefer not to have live viewers. But then again, it would stump her chances of overcoming stage fright again, if she ever had one again. The Internet, of all, is one of Madeko’s places to be when she’d been secluded from the real world. She had been spending the most of her time at home just on the Internet all the time… maybe she could shine there for a new start. Madeko ultimately decided to put this on hold, since it piqued her interest.

The next audition that Eli showed was called the Fresh Beauties’ Fashion Show audition. The image was decorated with only a silhouette of Shibuki Ran. The fashion show would be for rookie idols to demonstrate their charm with a passionate walk. Shibuki Ran, alongside Tachibana Anna would be judging for the audition. They seemed to be actively searching for new and †˜fresh’ models. “I’m not sure if this audition would be fitting for you. But any audition is better than doing nothing, right? It’s not like anyone will come and give you the job of your dreams – it’s arrogant to think that way – an idol would do any job they may have a possibility to get. I wouldn’t tell you to enter many auditions at once just for that reason, though.” After that, Eli showed the next image, which contained a girl skipping high up before the name of Vivid Girl. The Vivid Girl audition apparently needed a model for their next issue, and this was a chance they provided with that excuse. A girl would need to be greatly appealing to win. Turned out that it was a fashion show, too – as mentioned at the end of the details. “This may be a good choice, there isn’t a brand hosting it, so you can avoid having to use a coord of Spicey Ageha, or a Futuring Girl dress. It seems like the participants will be performing in the Neon Road Stage, though.” The audition was set up take place later at the end of the month, however. The earlier one could take decisions; the more time they could have to prepare – is what Eli thought.

Another two names Madeko have never heard of. Madeko wasn’t so sure herself of Fashion Shows; she’d been humiliated herself the first time she ever auditioned in one. She didn’t think she had the charm, body, nor appeal -at that time- to even accomplish something like this. Even Eli said so herself, it didn’t fit Madeko at all. Madeko then decided this would only be a last resort if she didn’t went in anything else. She needed to do something, after all. ”You’re right. I’ll hold off the decision of entering the Fresh Beauties’ for now,” still pondering.

The Vivid Girl Audition, as well; another one Madeko didn’t exactly like at first glance. †˜greatly appealing’ really isn’t a word to describe her being. Again, it was another Fashion Show, even at the Neon Road Stage, too- she trembled just thinking about what she had done to stain what would have been glorious. However, she wasn’t too afraid to try again, she wasn’t limited to her coords as well; just shaken up by the fact that history could repeat itself again. ”The Vivid Girl one, as well, I’ll probably hang on to the thought, but not very likely to chose it either.”

Finally, the last audition was something that seemed like an yearly occurrence. The Pon-Pon Crepe Campaign Girl audition. Eli picked this up from its site itself. It’s a famous audition, anticipated each year. Also rumored to be the audition for the rising stars – critical to climbing the staircase to the idol world. The last winner was Kiriya Aoi – according to the post made on the front page. “The most appealing part for this audition is that you can choose your own song – which means you’re also able to pick out a stage yourself. This may get your name out more if you do well, too.”

Again, this †˜Kiriya Aoi’, she seemed like a very amazing idol, one who likes to work extremely hard, and had the intellect for it, too. Something more conspicuous to her was the option to choose her own song and stage, coupled with the added bonus of being more well-known if she performed well, pretty much sealed the deal for Madeko. She’d have thousands of songs to choose from, her very own stage choice, as well. Although, she knew that there is a very good chance of it backfiring on her, resulting in a heavy hit on her would-be career as a rookie idol… but she thought it would be fun. “This one’s definitely the one for me!” Madeko exclaimed. ”I just know it.”

”The Glittering Web Girl, as well, It looks like something that I could at least be decent in.”

“Then that’s that. I’ll prep you up for it good,” Eli said with a nod, before smiling with a determined look. “I don’t hold back when training, by the way. Be prepared!”

(This post stars: Saotoshi Haruna, Amaiya Madeko, and Ayase Eli.)

Madeko found herself trying to balance herself. With a leg afloat the air, with both arms spread out to the sides, and with a single leg connected with the floor; she was sweating profusely – her form resembled a ballerina figure… one who is the worst tier, perhaps. She looked up to Eli with a look of protest, but it was shot down instantly with the strict look of the upperclassman who took the time to †˜train’ Madeko. Madeko had fell to the floor ten times from trying to dance; she tripped. She fell even more after Eli started giving her balancing-training. This would, however, greatly improve Madeko in how to dance. The first and foremost important aspect of dancing needed one to know how to keep balance of their body. Knowing where the center of gravity lied, and how to effectively deal it so as not to wobble and fall was but a basic element of dancing often forgotten – as many tends to learn the easier way by simply going to the beat of a groove. Having a strong basic foundation was Eli’s belief to being a good dancer.

“Uuuuuuuuuuuuuu….” Madeko groaned. It seemed to her like this was hell, having close to no experience of dance training prior to this. But it was a good experience, she figured, for she knew that this was but a tenth of what was going to come. However, straying her mind from focus she fell again.

”Ayase-senpaiiiiii, my legs are numb already… it would be nice to have a little break..?”

“No! It hasn’t even been three minutes yet, you have to endure this for a while longer,” Eli said, sternly rejecting Madoka’s plea for rest instantly. “Two more minutes. You’re almost there,” she added.

Madeko groaned again. ”I didn’t think it would be this tiring,” as she shivered and stumbled among her place. ”When does this end~”

“I didn’t think you’d in this bad a shape, either...” Eri said, trailing off before looking back to her timer. “Another minute.”

Before the timer even stopped, Madeko’s legs finally gave way and she fell again.

”Agh, why am I so bad at this?” she said, stumbling to recover her position. ”I thought I would at least handle this pretty well…”

“I thought the same, it’s like not I’m making you do the dance moves, yet...” Eli said. Considering her current state, Madeko was hardly ready to even dance for practice, much less for performing on stage.

“Well, this is a problem, you’re hardly ready to dance as you are now,” she stated openly. “If you don’t do some extreme training; you’ll hardly be ready for the auditions at all.”

”Yeah…. That’s what you get when you don’t have any experience at all, I guess,” Madeko figured her placing was, if not close, at the bottom of the standings. She sighed. ”Let’s continue.”

“Then, this should be your next form,” Eli said. Lifting a leg to the air with grace; she stretched her arms to their limits. What supported her was her other leg, which seemed to be curved. A posture reminding Madeko of ballerina performers, Eli almost appeared to be like a swan. Now, Madeko was supposed to try this out. “This is a bit more challenging; but it should help out better with your sense of balance,” she stated confidently, smiling while maintaining her posture.

Madeko stood amazed, wondering just how Eli could still talk in a calm tone even after stretching herself to that point. She tried the posture herself, challenging oneself to their limits was the only way to go about this, after all. Madeko tried pulling up her leg, then raised it. Creak! She could feel the twists of her muscles. Oh, the pain. She winced, but continued regardless. Somehow stretching her arms; she could feel her whole form wobbling dangerously. Desperately trying to keep up, Madeko tried her hardest, before falling over once again.

“Ah! Are you alright?!” Eri asked hurriedly as she saw Madeko fall. She ran over immediately after dropping the posture of a ballerina. Perhaps it was too tough a job for Madeko after all?

”Eh… uh, yes, I am…” Madeko said expressionless, rubbing her calves. She needed to train very hard to accomplish even the slightest of goals. She wasn’t going to give up so easily and let go her chance of making something happen. ”I’ll try it again,” she said with a determined look. ”I need to do this…” prepping herself up again.

“Is that so… then we’ll proceed with the training,” Eli said, flashing a determined look back to Madeko as she recognized the look of a resolute idol in Madeko for the first time.

(This post stars: Saotoshi Haruna, Hoshii Miki.)

Haruna found herself searching the many crags and orifices of Starlight Academy in search of her upperclassman, Hoshii Miki. During her search she managed to trip over herself from time to time, she had to get out of sight before she created a scene. She looked in various locations, and even checked the dormitory. Unfortunately, she had no idea which room was her Miki’s, so she couldn’t check if she were in her room. She even checked the main building where classes are usually held. She had to get back there before recess period would end.

Time was so short, however. She wondered if she’d be unable to find her before going back, as she listlessly walked. At such a moment, she approached a fountain. There was a rainbow over it, and a blonde girl looked up to it with curiosity. There she was! Hoshii Miki stood beside the fountain and watched the rainbow with a rare expression of interest with her green eyes.

“Miki Senpai!” Haruna called out as she waved to the girl to gain her attention.

“Mnm?” Miki turned to the strange girl who waved her hands towards her. She shifted her gaze from the rainbow moments after hearing the voice, apparently not wanting to let go of the sight. Her hands were locked behind her back as she took light steps to approach Haruna. “Oh, it’s you, what do you want?” She asked, tilting her head to express her curiosity further. A blank face greeted Haruna as she spoke to her upperclassman.

“Umm, well, I’ve been wondering if you’d be willing to help me hone my skills as an idol.” Haruna said as she poked her fingertips together nervously. Her eyes darting in various directions as Haruna was not accustomed to asking for assistance, but with the way the fashion show turned out along with Madeko’s attitude, Haruna thought there was room for improvement-- and there was an entire space for it.

“Hone skills as an idol, huh?” Miki bluntly responded, there was hardly any reaction or emotion shown. She took out her AiSuma from her navy-blue coat of the Starlight Academy. She’d soon miss this uniform as the summer uniform would soon be doned by the students, including herself. She checked something in her phone’s display screen, and seemed to be considering something. It took almost a minute as she stood with her hand under her chin. Not to mention; her eyes closed due to her process of deep thinking. “Sure, fine by me. I’ll help you out,” she said.

Haruna raised her arms and cheered in victory, “All right!” She squealed with over joy and happiness. She knew that with the assistance of a popular idol in her free time, Haruna’s abilities would improve in time. It was only a matter of time before she started winning in future competitions-- let alone being any challenge at all.

Miki smiled lightly at the celebrating girl, before wandering to the bench before the trees and bushes to rest, still holding the AiSuma in hand. “Hey, did you entered in any auditions? Or performed in any already?” Miki inquired, contemplating if she should dig out the performance Haruna gave in the Nationwide Audition Caravan. However, if Haruna performed after entering the academy; she’d have more newer footage to reassess her with. She’d know usually, but lately, there wasn’t so much that bored her, so she was fairly occupied enough to not have to look for anything for entertainment.

“Guh,” Haruna still grimaced the thought of her recent performance, she grabbed her chest and hunched over as if trying to avoid Mikki’s question. “M-Maybe…?” She pathetically replied.

“What? Give me a clear answer,” Miki said almost strictly as she slightly furrowed her brows. Well, seemingly strick. What was this girl trying to hide, though? To begin with, she’d need a reason to ask someone such as her for help, were teachers not good enough, or did she not know how to book an extra private lesson period with a teacher via AiSuma? Regardless of the intent; Miki didn’t liked people who beats the bush. Since she’d rather finish her business with them as fast as possible.

“...Y-Yes.” Haruna responded in defeat. “I participated in the fashion show a while back but… my performance wasn’t what you’d call...good.” She replied almost regretted having the thought to ask Hoshii for help. After that performance Haruna wanted everyone having the displeasure to witness it would either die or disappear from the planet altogether. Typical of the girl, she talked big in front of Madeko but couldn’t even stomach her own work.

“Hmm… what’s this?” Miki uttered, finding apparently another video. “A seemed to have performed with someone else, too?” She asked, finding a particular video. She soon played it; the hologram showed the video where Haruna danced alongside Koyama Koyuki in the special audition where one won to become her temporary manager. “Doesn’t seem like you participated in the fashion show, only,” Miki said.

“...Yes, I participated in the contest to become Ichigo’s temporary manager as well.” Haruna said, unmoved and petrified as if Miki would be tempted to change her mind. Even the slightest word would make Haruna break down in shame.

“Jeez, be more honest, next time,” Miki tersely replied before focusing her eyes to the performance that was playing in front of her. The music buzzed and the two idols were dancing. Haruna was noticeably slower, and out-of-sync. Moreover… she almost slipped and fell, but regained balance, and then exclaimed †˜safe’ when she prevented herself from falling with her face flat on the floor. Her palm travelled to her forehead without a thought due to the sheer disappointment. “Funny, that other girl also came in past the Nationwide Caravan audition, and heck; I’m the one who got you to become an idol… what went wrong here?” She asked herself instead of Haruna as she scratched the back of her head. Albeit, she was only responsible, Haruka was the one who fully vouched for her, and brought attention regarding this particular girl.

Haruna fell on all fours, wallowing in her failure. The reason as to why she blurted out †˜safe’ in the middle of a performance was even a mystery to her which made her feel worse. Haruna’s mood went from overjoyed to riddled with regret in under a minute. “I’m sorry, please forgive me…” Haruna said weakly as she bowed to the idol before her.

“Well, don’t apologize to me; the mistake only makes it worse for yourself,” Miki replied, half-caring even now. Miki is casual towards most people. Laidback, in fact. She was, however, very blunt with her opinions. Hence her preference to honesty. “It’s pretty clear that you need to work with dancing first. I’m going back to class now. I’ll message you the details, come meet me after classes are over,” Miki said as she stood up from the bench, then made way for the Starlight Academy building. It seemed that she started watching her fashion show performance as she left the scene.
