sorry for being stupid. but when you mean encrypted payments you mean online transactions right? well if that's what you meant I don't do online shopping. I do buy stuffs on OShopping but not using the internet I just call them.

I haven't experienced living in a dorm since my school right now is not that far from home.

@sakabato24

not really sure how do they hack people's accounts? is it was a inside job or the hackers is really good? are they using some kind of program like a key logger or are they remote accessing a persons computer or install a malicious program?

I did worked for dell and telus the most difficult thing that I encountered is a fake dell employee is doing a remote session on my client's computer. so what I told my client is to shut down the computer at once then after that I did a remote access on the computer while doing a tag of war with the hacker. it all went well and after 4months I decided technical support is a hard part time job. and applied for a customer support. then after a year my dad told be to go home with the help of my sister I did go home and started going to school again.

@Gravity cat

I've heard about that heartbleed that's program will copy what you type in on the log in screen of facebook and your password too and send it to the main server of the hackers

@King Dingaling

I see.

@opanihuya

well if you like to ask about what me and my cousin is doing right now.
my cousin is on zamboanga right now studying again we have a little deal with one another.
I already stop renting an apartment and got back home.
so far everything is good but right now seems like everyone is busy
we already decorated our home for Christmas and going to class is really a pain when you have classmates that are younger than you it's like i'm in highschool or something.
I do see my former classmates who are in their 4th year. and I always chat with them. but lately I find going to malls or just going out somewhere really boring. it might be a sign of aging. lol. other than that everything seems normal. we will see each other on christmas.

@MrTripStack
I see. I don't give any information on the internet especially when you just want to share or to feel understand by people who has the same experience as you do.

just hope someone will fool proof what I'm saying. sorry for the wrong grammars and spelling.

Yes, online payments are what he was referring to.

@Gravity cat

Incorrect. Heartbleed was a vulnerability that was missed for roughly two years. The only reason it gained so much infamy is because it went unoticed for so long. As such, there was plenty of time to abuse it.

@sakabato24

There are a few ways of "hacking" - social engineering (making a person divulge their personal information and/or login data via social methods such as flattery, impersonation, etc.), information gathering via virus, rootkit, phishing, keylogging etc., and of course, morons with overt login data.

Hackers are more than just thieves. Some use programs and some do a more inside job. With today's operating systems, you are very unlikely to get a form of malicious software on your computer very easily unless you installed something extremely obvious. Routers and computers have a rather somewhat fair setup to prevent unauthorized users from achieving a remote connection with your device. A standard setup will not deter anyone determined to get your information, but it should be sufficient enough to protect you from danger. And when I say "anyone determined enough," I mean a 12yr old script kiddie using some program he found on the internet and watched a few youtube tutorials on.

To somewhat summarize everything and answer your original question...

Don't use your real information (names, location etc.) on less-than-trustworthy sites (I personally have never used any real information online except for ordering products, and even some of that information is false.)
Don't use the same password for everything. If one account becomes comprised, all of your accounts become compromised.
Don't blatantly click through installers. Many installers these days install bloatware and depending on the source of the installer, malware, viruses, keyloggers etc.

All you simply need is common sense. You don't need to be computer savvy to keep your private information safe on the internet. And try to keep your logins in your head, not on a piece of paper. It is very easy for someone to steal a sticky note or a notebook containing passwords.

Mostly that but also using your card at unsecured real world place like the pizza place and others. It's not that hard to rip the cards strip or the payment machines wifi connection like Redbox or vending machines. Only my bankcard has a strip. All my other cards are chips which is somewhat safer or the stores have a better pay machine. That something apple does better. Paypal is also equally good. Prepaid cards are more safer in half the cases... still banks and credit card people will give you back your money... just slowly and painfully.

Sort of missed the point I was making on this.

You're worried about putting information out there on the internet, but people that are around you can also hack into your computer if you aren't careful either. I kept my doors locked and usually kept my computer with me. Roommates guy friend broke into my room while I was doing laundry and hacked my computer because I foolishly left it out. So moral of the story is be careful with your shit; doesn't just apply to dorm living.

I see.. Will keep that in mind. thanks in my house usually the people is just ate gretchen at mang jun. my sister,dad and mom is always outside. I rarely get any of my friends to visit my house these days because some of them is already married and some of them is not my friend anymore. but in my highschool days we always have sleepovers on our house.

Lol, nah he came out and apologized to me because he realized the legality of the situation, besides he was there on a scholarship. Had a tech friend of my dad's wipe my computer. Mainly the old roommates fault so I made sure she never messed with me again. (^^)

Do not go online or associate with anyone (or any entity) who goes online.
Personal info guaranteed safe.

If you want to continue to use the internet get a shotgun, an attack dog, and 200 character passwords. Your safety is somewhat guaranteed.

Do what everyone else has already said. Googling yourself, while a bit narcissist, will give you an idea of what the public knows about you.
