Letter Bee / Tegami Bachi

Couldn't find a topic about this one, in the master list or through the search engine, so here we are.

This is another rather promising show which started recently.

Summary from ANN (this is more like a summary of ep1, maybe it will take a little different course over time - but I couldn't find anything better now):
Spoiler:
Review: In a land of perpetual twilight known as AmberGound, Gauche Suede is a Letter Bee, a sort of glorified postman, and the young boy Lag Seeing is the newest “package” he has been assigned to deliver. Lag Seeing desperately wants to find his mother (or the woman he thinks is his mother, as there is some suggestion that she might be a fake), who was cruelly and forcibly taken away from him to the capital, and so is not cooperative at first, but he is struck by Gauche's ability to use a special gun which fires “heart bullets” to kill dangerous armored insects, while Gauche soon discovers that Lag has an uncommon ability to use the special gun, too. During the course of a crisis, both get insight into the pasts of the other.

The first ep was pretty catching, so I'm giving this show a try. Basically the (probably) main characters and a little of their background stories were introduced, but the animation and plot definition so far make this show worth trying.

Spoiler:
Gauche resembles Lelouch rather strongly (probably because of the VA? But the sister stuff helps a lot, you know).

Opening and ending are both, considering at least the audio side, very good (even though the op might sound a little gay, I like it o.O).
If it keeps up its current level from ep1, hopefully some good sub group will pick it.

Would be appreciated with some piccies =p

I think I'll give it a shot: from what you said it sounds kinda promising. And lol, is it just me or have I seen(or heard?) Fukuyama Jun (the VA for Lelouch in Code Geass) in tons of animes since after Code Geass?

I watched the flash version OVA released by Shonen JUMP and thought it was meh. Now it's got Jun Fukuyama in it? Should be worth watching.

As for Jun Fukuyama gaining more roles, it wasn't until year 03/04 that his voice talent was getting appreciated. By 2005, he was in notable roles like Watanuki from Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles. I guess he made major breakthrough in 2006 by being Lelouche from Code Geass, Kazuki from Busou Renkin, and Keita from Inukami!.

About Lelouch's VA - I don't know, this is actually my first time finding out right after 5 minutes of the show.

As for some pics (ep1 screeners):

Ooh, I like that animation style - looks so vivid, somehow. Especially in the last pic.

Your imagination is as usual top-notch. Get to work on that third doujin! Need my fix soon.

Well, I just watched the first episode, and like many of you, I got interested in this series from the OVA that was released. Overall, it was a very pleasant watch. I enjoyed the introductions of both Lag and Gauche, and I was glad that there was more character development then action for the first episode, (even though I would have really liked to have seen Gauche fighting off all of those monsters.

Overall, I'll be keeping a watch on this series, (and yes, having Fukuyama Jun around is a plus ^_^).

God damn, that was a superb way to start an anime. Think I might have found another masterpiece, if it plays out well and keeps this quality. Really like the animation style - it really was vibrant in its own way and I think the plot will be just as great, it certainly has a lot of promise.

^This. He is a good seiyuu, one of my favourites since Code Geass :P

I definitely agree with you there. I loved the purple/blue undertones found throughout the whole episode.

Aye, and I especially enjoyed Jun's role as Lawrence in Spice & Wolf as well.

I was pondering what this was about, since I was talking to Space about this and was too lazy to look it up. I will decide to watch this series.

Good choice - you most definitely should. It started out terrific, and I'm almost sure of that it is going to continue like that.

I agree. The OVA was full of manly tears.

Ok after episode 2.. wtf? Is the anime now about the crybaby Lag? Come ooooon, I don't want him as a main character. Tch. I barely even like that brat.

Liked the episode as a whole though, a tad too .. actionless somehow. Too much of a build up episode, but that's understandable.

Btw, that is one ugly girl in the preview...

I think I'll have to put this series on hold...for now. I've got a lot of my plate this season and a lot of schoolwork, and I looked a bit at the preview. I'll probably wind up picking it back up when I have more time.
