I'm pro-circumcision, not for religious regions, but because it just seems healthier. What kind of shit does an uncircumcised cock drag back into it's foreskin lair? My belly button collects lint, I can't imagine what foreskin would collect.
That just means you can't properly wipe/wash your arse. Frankly uncut penises are no harder to keep clean than cut ones. If what you said were true, all vaginas would smell like smoked cheese with yogurt topping, what with all those tight folds of skin... Guess what! Girls can keep those clean and so can uncut man clean below the skin.

I'm circumcised because I had phimosis when I was a kid. It's a disease where the penis' foreskin gets "stuck" and cannot be retracted.
I was like 5 though, so I don't really remember. I have to wonder, though: does having your dick circumcised bring any sexual benefits? Like, does it make you feel even better during sex and such?
Either your paediatrician took your parents for a ride or your mother is one of those woman who reads too many woman's magazines, but that procedure was very probably totally unnecessary. Not being able to retract the foreskin at that age is perfectly normal!

At birth, the foreskin is usually still fused with the glans. As childhood progresses the foreskin and the glans gradually separate, a process that may not be complete until late puberty. Thorvaldsen and Meyhoff (2005) reported that average age of first foreskin retraction in Denmark is 10.4 years. Wright (1994) argues that forcible retraction of the foreskin should be avoided and that the child himself should be the first one to retract his own foreskin. Attempts to forcibly retract it can be painful and may injure the foreskin.
Then again, these "doctors" are getting quite a bonus after all the skins they deliver, it's no wonder they "recommend" the procedure whether it's necessary or not.

As for "improving" your sex life: no, men who had the procedure done in their adulthood - so they had comparison - usually complain of a loss of sensitivity.
