Do people actually use "love confessions"?

I'm sure this is something that only occurs in Anime. However, maybe it's based off some real situation. Do people actually arrange these so called "love confessions?

How it apparenlty goes is that the confessor asks the object of their affection to go to some special place (a place with a vista, or underneath a cherry tree seems common). Once there and alone they admit their affection to that person and hope that the person reciprocates.

Does this actually happen? Have you been subject to the so called "love confession"?

No, I haven't. It doesn't seem really that common in America... usually we'll give a note to the subject of our affection or ask them outright in no special way to begin dating us (at least in middle school/high school).

Well, it does happen. Like, introvert people who are too shy to confess in front of a crowd. It happens.

I show my interest asking a date, that's it....

I have only seen it once in my life, and it was more funny than actually "romantic".

But yeah all in all it doesn't really happen in this day and age.

If by confession you mean walking up to a girl, asking to see her in private, then asking if she wanted to go see a movie sometime... Which mind you, I never did.. got all setup to do it, but chickened out :|

I'm more of a "grand gesture" fan. They take effort, sometimes money, and a lot of pulling strings, but it's totally worth it.

Well, I confessed my love to my gf at the park right after my friend left us alone after we all watched X-men Origins. I just said that I've always liked her and she said she always knew and she stayed silent the whole time after that. The worst part was the fact her Mom had to drive me home and there was awkward silence. I remember when I got home I texted my friend saying that it didn't work. Lo and behold that the next day she sent me a text saying she loves me back. We've been together ever since then. Four years and still going.

Anyway, on topic. I believe confessions exist but they are definitely not the best way to get together with someone. Take it from me lol.

The 'special time, special place' routine is usually reserved for marriage proposals. At least.. this is the norm for America. I'm not familiar with the norms of other countries, per se...

The specific term "Love confessions" is western term for a Japanese thing. Whether it actually happens out there though is another thing.

Pretty much everyone in the West either just comes right out with it when the two are alone, one of them gets their friends to hook them up and they admit it then, or they do it over the internet or text after becoming close friends and getting their e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

This really common in asia. Thailand forexample, takes this method every single time a boy asks a girl out. :D

lol I have gotten a couple confessions from girls at school. It does happen.

I've been confessed to a couple of times in high school. ^.^ The first one sent his friends over.... I guess because he was too shy. They told me that their friend wanted to talk to me and asked me to meet him at the basket ball courts during lunch. I went, and he was flustered and a bit awkward, but he still managed to ask me out. We never landed up going anywhere though or getting together because he was too shy to even come talk to me after that, and I was really shy, too. The second was with the president of the anime club I was in. He was a junior and I was a freshman, and he'd openly flirt with me all the time and he even nearly walked straight into a door staring at me while walking down the hall. He actually gave me a note saying that he liked me, but he gave it to me right before summer vacation, and when I tried to find him when school started again, he wasn't there anymore. I found out he graduated early. I was really sad at the time because I liked him, too. After that, I got cds and drawings from other guys also in the club, but none of them straight out said they liked me until much, much later when I had already met my husband.


EDIT: Oh, and the first guy says he liked me for awhile before asking me out, too. I forgot to add that. ^^;;;


So yeah, what I'm trying to say is that it does happen. ^_^

I think the whole confession thing should be saved for the marriage proposal. but it seems that (at least in Hong Kong/ China) that marriage is considered from the start, i.e. they will consider whether they could actually marry the other person.
Considering this I think straight up confessing your feelings from the start might make a lot of sense

Back when I was 14 and thought I was normal I tried this with a boy I liked. I told him I liked him when we went on a beach trip with a bunch of friends. It didn't work out and I wanted to go home.

Kids confess. Adults date.

That's what I do if I had a girl I liked, take her to a place where it's only 2 of us and bam!
If she has the same feelings then we go out, if she doesn't then at least it's a load off!

I have never confessed before, it's always the guy.

I've been confessed to by a couple guys i didnt really knew, not even as friends. And my pasts boyfriends, they were my bestfrieds, confessed first and then we started to go out.
