The plot means everything it can't just be great art it has to be backed up with a great plot or it will be boring!

Just like RL porn, hentai plot is usually pretty awful. Good plot can enhance it but because of all the crappy writing out there, art is my priority.

I'm sorry but I would rather pick art than plot, I mean why read manga if not for the art? If I hunger for plot based stories I'll read a book!

Who the FUCK reads/watches hentai for the goddamn plot? Really now. REALLY! -_-;

I do..if the art is great but the plot is just "the characters are having sex" with no context or story, it's nothing special.

Well it is fucking porn. That's the whole point of PORN! SEX! Nobody with a working sex drive gives a shit about the plot of a porn. If you want plot, go watch Clannad: the after story. Don't expect much for a goddamn porn. Aki-sora had something there that I only noticed after I came to it 80,000 times.

I have a working sex drive, and I still prefer plot. I need some kind of context to the story or foundation to really get into it. It's like if a video game had no immersion to it. Just setting you out on a story with no background like it's a 2D sidescroller. Sure, it's still fun, but it doesn't have the same effect that draws me in for more and makes me come back to it.

It is actually for both, art and plot, sometimes you get lucky and get both art and plot in a doushinji.

I can't answer this because it really varies. I like them with both but I tend to go for one just for the art or just for the plot depending on my mood. it's not a matter of which is more important, but what I'm in the mood for.

It may sound a bit odd, but I get off if the story is just awesome. Words provide a great image than an image itself.

I would like to say story, but if the art sucks I usually won't read it. But if there is no story I can still skim.

why can't there be a both poll D;

Gotta say I would go with art it's a close call because I always like to read it but I just cannot stand bad art

it's about a 60/40 division with art leading over story for myself.
If either the art or story is even just so-so I can enjoy it, but if either is really bad then I won't like it even if the other is absolutely amazing

Heh, "art" .... Riiight...

Still, a kinky or taboo plot is a gane changer as well, so tough to say.

Art, all the way. I often pass up even reading something when the art is unsatisfying. But that doesn't mean I don't like a little story in my hentai. It's actually very welcome, so long as its not NTR or something, and even that won't stop me most of the time. xD

Like someone else has said. I believe they go well together. Kind of like cream and coffee or macaroni and cheese. One without the other can be fulfilling but both coexisting in an excellent form makes the story that much more worth reading to me.

If I don't like the plot for me the art is worth zero so yes, plot.

vanilla requires plot, thus plot.

I'm more interested in plot. Just before I responded to this, actually, I gave up in the middle of reading one that had good art but the main character was getting reprehensible as the story continued. I'd say series like Love & Devil and anything by Shiwasu no Okina are great examples of great art and great story coming together.

Both are important. If the art is bad then I normally won't read it. If the art is good, then the plot either keeps me reading or makes me quit.

In my opinion, I think the mistake most people make is going into a hentai EXPECTING a good plot. You are doing it wrong. You're only setting yourself up to be severely disappointed in the end. Going into a hentai for the artwork alone while not expecting any real plot is the best way to go about it. Because this way, if that hentai with awesome artwork turns out to have a great story too, you'll be pleasantly surprised. If it doesn't, you won't be disappointed because you didn't expect it to have any kind of story in the first place. That sure sounds like the best of both worlds to me, at the very least.

So for that reason, I'll take awesome artwork over plot any day. If story as a focus were something I wanted, I wouldn't really be looking to hentai to cover that, right?

I despise plot-heavy hentai. Keep it simple and sexy.
