Getting arrested for watching Hentai

0
So, recently a guy in Quebec got arrested and will be sent to jails for 60 days for watching Hentai portraying teenagers.

On top of that, the man will be added to the registrar of sexual delinquent for the next ten years.

Found an English article in-case people can't translate the other.

I don't agree with the sentence, but the law is sadly the law. To me personally if you do something to someone then there should be repercussions. If you are just watching the shit then... meh. I get that there trying to "prevent" certain things from escalating (aka reading about fake young girls having sex leading to pedophilia or rape of minors), but to me, the person will do this shit if they want to do it. Porn only facilitates or curbs their desire, it doesn't create it.

What the hell is the world coming to? Their fictional characters that don't exist IRL, jeez.

Oh no! The kid ate his poptart into the vague shape of a gun at lunchtime! He needs detention now before he can finish it. If not he'll grow up to shoot the school.

Anybody remember that news story? I immediately thought of that.

Oh no! A guy watched animated pornography of characters that appeared to be minor. Must be a future sex offender! Key word is appeared though.

In anime, a 14 year old had puberty hit really early making her look like a smoking hot adult, and a 40 year old teacher still has the body and voice of an 8 year old.

And in one of my favorite hentai clips I've ever seen, the girl was not underaged.
She was a mother with small breasts... And was also a midget. No more than 30 judging by the mature sounding voice. Had the body of a teen, but the mind and experience of a 30 year old mother.

I wish I could link it, but it had a generic name like "dude 69's midget MILF" or something like that and I can't find it anymore. As for why I like it... It's relatable. I don't mind having small boobies, but I do wish I were taller. Let's leave it at that.

Had a teacher back in highschool take my manga and said in-front of the entire class, "this type of filth isn't allowed in school. Porn is against the rules." He then sent me to the principles office and called my folks..... the manga mind you was Fruits Basket. They even had the manga in the library to loan out, but I brought my own copy. My poor reputation in school was trashed for a couple of months after that (though I've had worse things said about me lol).

Basically, people can be assholes and ignorant about shit when they don't understand it and jump to conclusions.

Woah such extremes.. well Jesus did say that by thinking about sinning is a sin in it self.

Though of course I totally disagree with him, it is because we are allowed to think about them that we realize and understand the importance of NOT doing it. By just imagine and thinking about it, if you get the satisfaction from that it makes both parties happy no? I mean one gets to dream and imagine which makes him happy and the other part is not hurt by abuse or violence which is a peaceful and happy life.

Of course if the thinking 'sinner' where to take action and actually realize his 'sinning' dreams that would be a problem. But then it can be discussed if it was the thought which made him uncontrollable and desire it for real life or if it was the idea of not even being able to think about it which drove him nuts to actually wanting to do it. Both cases could happen

"Investigators recovered 210 hentai files from a hard drive, along with 501 incriminating web addresses from his browser history, the court heard."

Don't know what those incriminating websites were, seems almost like that was the bigger reason he was arrested, don't know though.

"Crown prosecutor Nathalie Leroux said most of the cartoons depicted the sex organs or anal regions of characters who looked like minors."

Who looked? Seriously? Who looked? And i was under the impression that the western justice systems were all about that you are innocent until proven guilty without reasonable doubt. I guess because they 'looked' like minors it gives doubt, go figure...

"Whether it's a cartoon image or a photograph, any representation of underage people's genitals is illegal under the Criminal Code."

So basically it is illegal in Canada to watch and/or create fantasy in a form of cartoons, sounds like a free country doesn't it.

"Tremblay will be a registered as a sex offender for 10 years."

So not only is the law incriminating people for watching cartoons, it also fucks them for life.

Go Canada!

A former private security guard at CFB Valcartier will spend 60 days in jail for watching Japanese child-porn cartoons known as hentai.

This made me laugh. Is all hentai apparently child porn to Canada?

Tremblay acknowledged he watched the child pornography several times while he was running the ammunition depot at Valcartier Garrison.

Putting it like that makes the article and sentence seem justified lol.

who looked like minors.

This is the biggest issue I have with the whole thing. I mean there are plenty of anime alone that have characters that look like they are 10, but they are suppose to be the one that is 25-30. So in theory if we are going off the "look" factor then in Canada a guy can rape a girl and say "she looked like she wanted it." Or a guy can have sex with a 15 year old and say "she looked 18." If the court uses "look" to really justify a sentence then the court system is starting to fail in more countries now.

Sorry for the incoming french speak...

C'EST NORMAL AU QUEBEC *insert silly song*

I knew Canadian laws were strict, (some /a/nons feared to get arrested if they bought Monster Musume), but this is harsh.

(mfw Canadians can't read Witchcraft from Yamatogawa without being arrested because some old hag looks underaged)

Fuck, that's hard.

Makes me think I haven't seen some retarded Canadian guy I knew, maybe he got arrested.
(The guy was on a forum and was basically filming cat sex, he'd fit perfectly in IB)

It's still a grey area because not every country agrees that hentai depicting teenagers or young children would truely class it as paedophillia.

Personally I think it's ridiculous when you try to criminalise fictional porn.

Pedophila is a thought, but CP/loli is an act. Can't punish a thought. On the subject of loli vs CP... well that depends on the laws definition. Japan has barely made a law on CP. Loli will be legal out in the open there as long as there money. Loli here and other places will only survive until some fucktard don't bring it out in the open. The line on what can be legal vs obscene is thin. Using the current law on CP... 95% of the loli i read is barely legal just on the art alone, so you have to worry about obscenity.
Watch CNN become asshats http://sunrisingblog.wordpress.com/2014/06/21/love-hina-ken-akamatsu-child-porn-japan-cnn/
Ps. The manga they show.... tame and one was a loli mango.

Hentai will continue being a legal gray area for years to come, I'm sure, but where do we draw the line? Being fictional characters, their age isn't always as obvious as you'd first think and you can't go off looks alone.
Spoiler:
I wanna hear what they say when they find out that this character, Zakuro Mitsukai, is only 9-years old!

Or how about the girls from Lucky Star? They're all around 16-18 from what I've heard.

A majority of anime already either takes place in high school or involve characters that are seemingly in high school, so doesn't that technically mean that most hentai involves "minors" in one way or another? If a law passes that says that any hentai depicting characters under the age of 18 in sexual acts is considered child pornography, I'm sure a large majority of those that enjoy hentai would be in jail the next night!

Do I agree with the sentencing? Absolutely not. I honestly don't think the 60 days in jail is nearly as bad as having to register as a sex offender for the next ten years - that could really ruin somebody's life. And what happens after he gets released? Are they going to keep tabs on him for the next few years? I highly doubt spending two months in jail is going to rid him of his interests in hentai and does that mean that even if he is careful to avoid any obvious loli material, will he just be jailed again and again? I'm sure these people have better things to do with their time!

As far as laws against hentai are concerned, the most I could agree with is allowing "loli" hentai to be a grounds for further investigation, allowing authority to search for actual child pornography and if they don't find anything, you should be let free.

It doesn't help that CNN reported on a manga that is apparently a horror manga, blurring out a cover that shows nothing but two girls covered in droplets of blood. There was also that story a while back where a young girl apparently burned down her family's house while reading a volume of Soul Eater, even though she wrote in her diary that there "would be no safety in this house" if her mother kept disciplining her. If things continue the way they have and anime/manga is continually pounded by the media, I don't see a bright future for anime/manga in general, let alone hentai.
