Ok, so the other day i found my old copy of destruction derby lying around (old 95 ish msdos game) along with carmageddon.. now as you can probably tell, they need msdos to run..

Just so you know:
specs:
Dual core athlon processor
2gb ram
512mb graphics
lots of hdd space..
OS: Xp pro 32bit

I tried installing destruction derby, and it said i haven't enough ram. I checked the ram required, and it said something like 2mb.. I looked at my specs, and saw 2gb or something similar.. and even the game was saying i had shitloads.. but somehow hadn't enough.

Anyone know a program or a way i can run my old awesome msdos games? :D
I tried downloading dosbox, but never really got around to using it.. think i tried booting it once and had no idea what i was doing ><

Windows doesn't support 16-bit DOS programs anymore and that's why you're getting not enough memory problems. 16-bits isn't enough space to locate ram addresses. You'll have to use an emulator like DOSBox, or VirtualBox with Windows 95/32 bit XP installed.

Please take more care when giving computing advice! The OP's post clearly stated that he has a Windows XP (32-bit) installed, which is *very* much capable of running 16-bit applications. In fact Windows XP's NTVDM (Virtual Dos Machine) is even better than Windows 2000's. To set the memory allocation of 16-bit applications, right click the "exe" of the old app, go into the memory tab and tweak the settings therein.

You could use DOSBox as Daedalus suggested, in fact I also recommend this approach as it will continue to work in the future as 64-bit operating systems won't have *any* support for running 16-bit code natively.

I recommend you also download a front-end for DOSBox, like D-Fend Reloaded, as these make it a lot easier to setup programs and configure the virtual environment.

My bad, I read dual core and assumed 64-bit.
