Filesharing is a gift if you ask me. :)

But! :!: i don't like the idea that some people are making money of selling pirate copies of movies and mp3 etc etc. Because it may ruin the makers budget and in some very serious cases the makers couldn't continue their business like sega when everyone started to buy copied games to the dreamcast instead of buying the games in the stores.

Filesharing should't be abused in that way. :?

Just keep it to yourself, then you won't harm the makers as much selling copies. But i agree on that 70$ is way to much for a game.

So i want to hear your oppinion of what you think about piracy

If someone doesn´t do it frequently or sells it than it should be allowed.

Okay I mean if everybody would do it, it would ruin the whole industry, but seriously in some cases it is better to first download, for example a game and try it (demos are often way to short and don´t show the whole aspects of the game).

I don´t pay 60 € just to find out that the game is crap afterwards (sadly to say that over here in germany you can´t return a game after you have opened the package), often I downloaded games and played them and after that I ended up buying it, cause I wanted to play it only or simply really own it.

I'd say downloadin shit for free is awesome especially music, since I got an iPod and songs from iTunes are fuckin 1 dollar a pop. I saved myself almost 300 dollars getting them free and I'm not stopping.

On the matter of downloading shit illegally and then selling it, I'd say that it's just weak. Making profit from shit that you didn't even create or get the permission form the creator to sell is just so fucking low. Sometimes people sell that kind of shit as if it's their own.

I bought BF2142 and damn i was disapointed because i was back then a BF2 gamer and 2142 didn't entertain me as much as Bf2 and it was full of buggs and it lagged even thought my computer was good enought and my broadband speed was 8 mbit. The worst part was that it cost 60$ and the return time had ended. :(

File Sharing = YES
Piracy = NO

My reasons are pretty much the same with other guys who said No.
But my reason for no Piracy is backed up by an unwritten rule in VN community. Once you get red handed selling that stuff, you'll be separated from the community, and the community will try their best to completely shut you down for good.

That's why I have many VNs. We all trade them for Free.

I don't mind paying someone for their services, but not for the material itself. I used have friends download stuff for me before I got around to using bittorrent. I would either supply the following: some form of money renumeration (less than $20), I'd supply the DVDs myself, I'd return the favor with another favor, or I'd share my homework problems. It worked for me, but it was a barter system and I don't think of it as one person selling goods to another person.

To sell pirated goods where people have spent their time and effort to translate, sub, and scanlate, that I believe is sacrilige in the anime/manga/hentai/game/VN community, and everyone should condone it.

You're against it but you want it to be overlooked or excused?

I meant "should not condone it." My bad.

Obviously, many governments do not think that way.

It is difficult to distinguish filesharing from piracy. To some, both terms may mean the same thing, while others may see it differently. However, regardless of whether one uses a "product" for self-consumption or sells it for a profit, the industry will be hurt all the same, though the latter scenario is seen as even less ethical.

I believe all of us engage in some form of filesharing from time to time. Remember, it is a privilege (at least for now), not an entitlement, so people should not expect free stuff wherever they go.

If you have it and share it for free then that's fine...
But I mean if you make copies of it and sell a 70$ game for like 5$ then I don't really think the people buying are going to complain. Even though you can pretty much get anything from torrents now-a-days... But If people are buying them that's their fault I have to say I really can't go one way or another...
