Filling out an Application

Because even though google can give you examples, its not the best for answering specific questions, so I come to the Fakku's.

I've never had a actual job, its always been with my dad.
So do I actually list him for reference? It looks bad.

And for times available, is it ok to put Open-Close or would looking up exact times have a better look?

[size=10]I get the basic idea of what you want, but I'm not completely sure what it is that you're asking. I assume you're wondering what you should put though; for the available times that you can work.

Usually I'd recommend putting the time like this:

Monday 1am - 5pm
Tuesday 2am- 3pm
Wednesday 1am- 4pm

and so on.. basically just put the exact time you'll be available or an estimate. Well, that's my idea on what should be done anyway. It's how I've always done it.

1. Depending on how long you've worked with him and what you did, I would list your dad. I always list my uncle that I worked construction with, I don't think it looks bad, it's all job experience.

2. I know that for most jobs, putting "Any" or "Open-Close" is actually preferable as it gives you the flexibility they may need, just make sure you can actually work the hours and be prepared to have mixed up hours(it happens sometimes). Also, depending on where you are getting a job, you will probably be able to fix your hours to something more to your liking -after- you've been hired.

Ahh, great.

Im trying to get a retail job so I can acquire "business work experience" or something like that. Since I've always been working with my dad it never felt like "work." Despite if it was...

List your dad as a reference, it doesn't look bad and you have actually been working for him. I would put "negotiable" for all hours, that way you can talk to the manager about when you want to come in. And lastly, LEAVE THE "DESIRED WAGES" FIELD BLANK. You will ALWAYS get payed more if you leave it blank.

Depending on the company and application form you are filling up, some of them have specific instructions on referees. When I went for a couple of interviews earlier this year, the section on referees excluded family members.

I am not too sure about the "times available" though. Initially I thought it concerned when one is able to start work.
