Hentai properties that cant be licensed

0
Over the last few years I have seen some major improvements to the licensing of hentai video from Kitty Media as well as a few from Softcel-Pictures. On the on side I am grateful that anything is getting picked up and being made available for the English market. But I have started to notice a pattern of what dose get picked up tens to be from the same handful of studios. It kind of made me wonder why no other hentai labels has worked with them? Two in particular that stand out are Black Lilith and Bunnywalker, which in my opinion have made some of the most consistently high quality releases over the years. Yet almost nothing from there catalogs have ever been released, to my knowledge, outside of Japan. The closest I have seen is some distributors like Rightstuf have released officially licensed figures from Taimanin Asagi and Youkoso! Sukebe Elf no Mori.
The only reasons I can think of is that these companies want a ridiculous amount of money for anything they have ever made. Another theory is that by making it Japan exclusive they can keep the prices higher indefinitely. To me this is just encouraging piracy as well as cutting off potential secondary revenue for titles that are at this point several years old. Dose anyone know why we will never see most of titles released outside of Japan?

These are good questions. I wish I had good answers for them. Maybe it's because Americans constantly and publicly protest against the "male gaze," "objectifying women," and "patriarchy," which make the Japanese companies hesitant to license their products to the US, due to concerns this will shame to them in Japan itself?

I really want to see the mental gymnastics that gave you this conclusion. The only complaint i have heard from japanese companies is that they think westerners are pirates that will never not pirate stuff.

No, I doubt that's the reason. The porn industry in the US is doing extremely well. Hell, Japan has stricter rules on censoring porn than the US. I think one of the main problems is putting in the time, effort, and money to make an international release. It would require a lot of deals and negotiating since outside companies would try to take as much money as they can for translating the work. I don't believe the things you have mentioned such as "male gaze," "objectifying women," and "patriarchy," would be a problem since porn objectifies the shit out of women. I believe another main problem would be hardcore material such as loli and shota. It works in Japan because the age of consent in Japan is 13 years old but in the US it would be a morally gray area.

bottom line...It would be a huge hassle but if they ever pulled it off then they would probably make a shit ton of money lol

Half it's they don't want to export since they won;t make that much money. Other half is piracy but not because 'dem damn gaijins stealing our works'. More it because the japanese stop spending those ridiculous high price on anime and found they can just vpn the japanese firewall and get raw and uncensored. Most of you people are too yong to remember anime in the 90's and early 2000's when a season of eng dubbed or sub officials anime was over a hundo and 3 eps was 49$. Some were cheaper but more for vhs and movies.
