is death really the end?

I'm not worried about death. I know there is a spiritual aspect to life and if there is then there must be some sort of afterlife. to be honest I believe I am a demon from another parallel and I believe when I die I will be able to return to my world.

I've been thinking a lot about what happens after death and... it kind of scares the hell out of me. What if its over after death I mean I like the idea of reincarnation and/or heaven but what if when you die you slip into darkness forever what if when you die you just stop and you rot in the ground. Tell me what you think I don't care if you are religious or an atheist just say what you think because I really want to know.

You won't slip into complete darkness, as you won't be able to perceive said darkness. You're dead, that's it. It won't be horrible to be dead, as you don't have any feelings. You don't exist.

And being afraid of death is what drives most people to religion; to feel assured that they'll end up in a good place after death. I personally don't like the idea of dying either; hopefully we'll reach a new level of science within a couple of years to ensure immortality. I'm thinking about the technological singularity or a breakthrough in medicine.

Based on my religion, when you die you go to heaven. I'm very sure eternal darkness won't be what's next. There is a higher power that decides where you go next in the afterlife.

Well if you take it on the quantum level, our consciousnesses all exist as information in the universe. Our thoughts and imaginations are as real as our memories and character, as observers in the universe this has to be true. Therefore when we die and our physical being is destroyed with time, our consciousness disperses into the universe as information that can never be destroyed. This is where the theory ends and superstition kicks in, but one can draw eerie connections to "near-death-experiences" where people see bright lights, stars, or their strongest memories flashing before their eyes. As someone that almost died of a fever + dehydration I can testify that I had a really strong hallucination that I was Ezio Auditore free-running through Italy.

Eternal darkness? There won't be any darkness for you to perceive.

Our thoughts are only the result of chemical reactions in the brain. They're not real in that they do not exist at a material level. They can only be interpreted by our brain or a machine that resembles it.
Our consciousness doesn't disperse anywhere; it rots away, and nothing will echo out in the universe. If you claim otherwise, please provide a source for your statement.

I hope death is not the end, because there are many corrupt bureaucrats who deserve to burn in hell!

This is my theory, which is in turn substantiated by the basis of another theory. It's pure superstition, really. It's the most practical superstition you will ever hear (I recognize the oxymoron). The concept of god, heaven, and hell is laughable at best but the human consciousness is very, very real. To say otherwise would be so ignorant it's hypocritical. Also, please familiarize yourself with the concept of information. When you die, every interaction and those that follow contain information about your conscience. You don't need to take an MRI of the brain to know someone is alive and capable of thought, and the fact that we are able to take our supposedly-intangible thoughts and put them into words and pit ourselves against each other substantiates my belief in this. Not in a way that implies a soul, or an afterlife. Simply that our conscience doesn't just disappear like it was never there, and therefore it's not an absolute truth that when we die we enter oblivion.

My ideal situation would be when you die you go to a character creation screen and get to live life again with any customizations you want. Life has been good to me, Id rather live it again if possible

It is a scary thought to find yourself bury in the ground, not able to move but could still think for all eternity. Isn't it the job of the brain to think so with the brain gone, there no need to think but to accept. That is the negative to find in the end.

I believe in the concept of God, Heaven and Hell but most importantly soul or the idea of consciousnesses since not everything could be explain in science. I am going to say the soul and the mind would left the world to live another world or be administer in the system like living in another life to be re-incarnated but the memory of the life before was forgotten.

If you want to be positive, try to think the concept of dream. When we were sleeping, where did our conscious go while the body sleep. Is it in our imaginary mind or some kind of other world?

.......After reading what I wrote, how in the world did I write somehow religious a bit? My advice is stay positive!!!

I think that the brain is only a limiter and that the soul is what realy learns and causes the brain to activate. When we die we will all be smart, that is why the devil is good at his job. Will although can beat out smarts. An unmovable will canot be swayed till it wants to sway and if it is scared of it's big brother will I do not think it will want to sway.
I believe in heaven and hell. Heaven is a dream world where you live in your most wild (yet apropriate) fantasys. Hell is the opposite, In Hell you live your worst nightmare over and over till you break and satan puts you out to work for him.Yet i am still torminted by the nagging thought (most likely stimming from satan) that when I die there is nothing but white and lonleyness, a hell in and of itself.

Honestly, I don't know. Is there a God, or are we just the product of chance? I think that you can't just disappear. If so, then what happen to your toughts, to your mind, to your memory? I try to learn about all the theories or the religions, but I just can't find a satisfying answer. All I can do is try to learn new things every day, and try to help others (Or at least to cause no harm.) Am I the only one?

Why ? It is more likely from what we understand of life than any other possibility ...

Yes I know, I just think so, or I just don't want to completely disappear, believing in a place where you will still exist after death is sure reassuring, until recently I was a complete atheist, but I think some things are just to precise to be just pure luck.I dunno.

I am agnostic. I just don't know, and choose not to even think about it. I choose to think about now, and only now.
