I might have some numbers wrong here and there but that's the truth as I see it.

I feel mostly embarrassment towards those people who demand to be taken seriously while acting like they represent the entire state. Now they pretend to be Federalist and are mad at the Federal govts. size and interventionist policies towards states.

I see.

I've been ignoring the news and politics overall lately since I don't really see how my input would do more good than harm.

My opinions would most likely be harmful to the entire human race if anyone were to ever take them seriously and use them as policies.

...

That aside, I suppose discontent for decisions and elections is very common nowadays.

People just can't accept the results of anything and move on, it seems.

That obviously refers to many things, though I'm sure a more recent example forms in many peoples' minds.

You do realize that California is the Us's largest taxable entity, and has been for the last 115 years, providing the government with over 15% of its annual tax based revenue, 5X more then the second largest, being North Dakota. Its also the seventh largest economy on the planet, and in terms of $ per area its second only to the vatican.

I already talked about this in my post.

It's a null point. California is in debt, and will have issues regarding it's main income if it does secede. More than likely a lot of tech firms and companies will move to Texas for:
lower taxes
ability to do international and interstate trade with the US's laws and copy right protection
other legal benefits

All nations and states are in debt, but why Texas? There's way cheaper places than Texas which is a buck cheap than us in the base tax rate. The reason Hollywood is still movieville USA isn't the cheapness of California but the wealth and financial center. Wouldn't NY or Delaware be the next place to incorporate MGM? Miami were it's warm and full of sorta mexicans... kinda like LA. All the tv and movies are already in Canada. It's quite possibly that BC will be holly moose.

Texas was one example. It's a good location logistics wise for a lot of mass producers and distributors. But let's NOT equate two different business, especially when California has been losing a lot of capital and people to Texas. (and Beijing)
BC already is a "holly moose" because it's so cheap to shoot films there, and the city is really flexible in terms of being able to film.

NY doesn't seem likely. There's just not enough real estate they could grab in a good location to make it work.

Delaware doesn't have enough of a population for them to want to move there.

Texas, in particular around Austin, makes a lot of sense because there's already a good portion of tech companies there so the infrastructure for moving wouldn't be as difficult for them.

And if the Tech Companies move there, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hollywood move there either. The population of Texas is pretty large and there's still a lot of real estate available as compared to a place like New York.

Sorry, but Cali isn't going anywhere. They think they are, but they aren't.

The vocal ones are mostly whiny little bitches, anyway.

Hate to tell you this, but protesting is actually counter-productive to accomplishing shit.

It's nice and all to try and stand up for your "rights" (I don't think people often realize that humans really have no rights) but you're doing it wrong.

Maybe these people should go and be a politician. Then, at least you'll have some ability to decide the outcome of things.

Also, no, this was not directed at OP. This was directed at all the whiny bitches who protest but do pretty much nothing to actually change things.

Instead of whining for someone in power to change things, why not go and get power and change things yourself? That's the only way you'll succeed, anyway.

Do I care about changing things? No, I don't give a flying fuck. I just want my family and I to get by, and I will do whatever it takes to do so.

Maybe people should focus more on things that are actually within their control.

Texas never really stopped trying to secede after the Civil War and the movement, yes a movement, really picked up steam in the last 30 years. It even has its own Wikipedia article which says there was a large 125,000 signature petition after the 2012 election just like we're seeing here with California (though that petition is only a few thousand so far). They have their own legit political organizations and last May, the state GOP nearly brought the issue to the floor of their convention.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_secession_movements

Lawl? I think they're both stupid ideas just like Brexit. But just as always, for every bad thing you can say about liberals, there's a worse conservative example.

It's all on the Mod's whims, not people taking discussion seriously.

And those whims usually are, "Is this topic vaguely political?", despite the opening post not following SD guidelines.

Otherwise, the OP would have been edited and all the meaningless post would have been deleted.

I think that it'd be great if California seceded from the USA.

Just imagine the premium rates surrounding states could charge the "8th biggest economy in the World" Californian liberal for the water they'll supply. $$$ Big Bucks $$$ :D

With California out of the way it would also lead to America becoming more unified as a nation too. Win-Win!
