New UK porn laws come into force this April

0
From April this year, if you like in the UK you either need to submit credit card information or ID information to prove that you are over 18 so you can access adult sites. All sites will need to agree to abide by this rule as well and ask for the relevant information or else they will be blocked by UK ISPs or fined up to £250,000.
This is all to make it harder for children to access adult material.

Man, I wouldn't want to live there... It seems it's only bad news for adult entertainment you guys are getting these days.

Honestly, I think children accessing adult sites is not that grave of a danger to society nor the individual. The UK is becoming very scary with its surveillance laws, technology, and culture. They have more cameras than they do people in London, the police use technology to trace phone messages all throughout the city, and now they want adults to register on adult websites. This is what so many science-fiction works warned us about; and it's happening.

On a side note, if parents don't lock their computers with passwords, or keep their adult website accounts "always logged in", children can still access adult websites.

parents need to learn to use parental control,
most UK libraries run free computer courses where they can go and learn to use computer.

The UK is too much of a nanny state and parents don't parent their own kids and want the government to do for them.

If we get rid of some laws than natural selection will take place.

I think parents have to watch their kids more closely. There's so much stuff going on in the world. Obviously you can't protect anyone from everything. So we need better parenting and education. Yes, also parent education.

It's terrible that we have to forbid everything just to protect some idiots (or innocents).
Look what the forbidding of drugs or prostitution has brought. It's not gone it's just better hidden.

Gravity cat the adequately amused
It's May now and I can still access everything. I wonder what they were trying to distract us from this time?

Edit: Oh it was delayed. There's a shocker. That usually means it's going to get shelved because too many people are against it, because everyone in the world except those trying to push this ridiculous law has common sense. Age verification by credit card? I can't see a downside to that at all. And I can't see porn companies accepting terms like that lying down. Unlike their pornstars when taking dick.

So what's the motivation for negatively impacting everyone with this stupid law? So kids can't access porn? Fuck off. Teach kids about sex when they become interested; don't go prude and deny them the knowledge they're old enough to ask about. They'll only become more curious and look to other sources for information.

I knew we Brits were stereotyped as being sexually repressed but this shit isn't helping.
