We seem to think we matter in the grand scheme of things.

I don't get it.

Last time I checked, the world is spinning and the universe is expanding.

If/When I die, the world will still be spinning, and the universe will still be expanding.

Depending on how long we stick around, when the last human being dies/evolves, the world might still be spinning.

And the universe will still be expanding.

Is it not written, "'Meaningless! Meaningless!' says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.'" and, "This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind."

The theory is that humans will eventually live on stall stations surrounding collapsed suns as the universe slowly dies out when all of the accessible suns have burned up their fuel and become white dwarfs or just glowing ashes of their former selves.

One theory to the end of the universe is that a physics shift will happen and suddenly all we know about modern day physics and science will be rendered useless as everything will bond together differently. To continue the theory scientist think that at the end of the universe a wormhole will form and we can more on to another universe (i.e. what we call "space" there is a second "Space". It blows the mind to think that there is another universe with infinite dimensions"

There's a book club?

Well, someone caught on to that rather quickly!
On that note, my answer to this topic is 42.

Of course I caught the book reference. It has to do with my job.
Remeber the last message: "We apologize for the inconvenience."

And I'm totally lost to the reference.

Douglas Adams. The Hitchikers Trilogy book 3 out of 5. It's science fiction comedy.

Well not always because our life is linked with the suns, some of suns that scientists has found is like red dwarfs, they might last up to 14 trillion years. After all of those longest living stars die out. Well uh, u have black view! =P

That is if humans has managed to avoid killing itself with whatever! to see it happen.

or another big bang... what if the next one had the ability to destroy life as we know it; imagine randomly having the world end... ridiculous.

Human kind is but a tiny speck in the universe.
Anything that we do will affect our planet and MAYBE our surrounding planets, but other then that what we do does not matter one bit.

Planet Earth is but a drop of water amongst hundreds of oceans.

True, but even a drop makes ripples. I don't expect us to make a huge impact on the universe (and sometimes I really hope we won't), but I'd bet we'll at least make some waves, for better or for worse.

That is seriously how I read that.

Not calling you gay, Genestation, just that's how I read it. Good times.

It appears to be a software error. You need a reprogrammer for that.

No, it's much simpler then that: the three of us just need to give Hibia a good strong tug to get his head out of the gutter.

Yeah...but, we'd have to touch him to do that and do you really wanna get that slime all over you? I sure as hell don't.

What about the theory "The Big Crunch"

It's a theory that states that the universe may eventually (in like, gazillions of years) slow down and being to shrink, bringing everything in the universe together and turning into a black hole singularity(whatever that means)
