Visual Space for Rent?

I wonder sometimes whether it's really worth upgrading to three/four screens with a secondary video card and wall brackets... 1600x1200x2 is great until both screens are filled or the OS forgets the organization and alphabetizes everything. I don't want to imagine what four screens after order reset would be like.

I know it's smarter to cull back the files into folders but then I never really look at them...as often. Forgetting they exist is even worst.

This for H-Doujins and H-video on the other hand doesn't happen to me these days because of the high volume that goes in and in many cases gets deleted. It's a better system as it keeps everything fresh. I used to keep everything till I had about 100+ gigs on a drive with more leaking on to the third, fourth, and fifth drives. Having that much kept everything I liked fresh to memory, making new media hard to enjoy as most of the time it didn't measure up to the favs. So now I keep about only 10 gigs in folder deep freeze and new stuff stays around only 2gigs in size for easy perusal on the desktop.

So, does anybody else have the ever piling desktop file/icon mess? What do you do?

For those that don't, I salute your efficiency.

I put them off to the side in "windows sidebar" or delete the things I don't need anymore...I like looking at an empty desktop.

I hide my desktop icons. Sometimes I unhide them and clear it up, or just leave it messy. It's a horror, and I know how it feels. My friend has 50GB of data on his desktop, and he's given up on sorting. He just knows where some of the important bits are. :3

I edit or have to find system files more often than I'd like, so I just keep hidden files as visible. That as it is, I never got much out of having files tagged as hidden, as they just go semi transparent, but it sounds like a good way to give temporary relief.
