If you are talking about the Fox news with Fox & friends, O'reilly factor, etc. It's because it's a conservative news station. They tend to support the things that Liberal minded people detest (the war in Iraq, Bush, etc).

So people think by supporting the current wars that America is involved in the label you (and your supporters) fascists or any other term they can come up with.

In short: The people who support a biased station (CNN) detest that there is support for a station that is also biased (just in the other direction).

Though the Fox 5 segment about Anonymous being "hackers on steroids" kind of adds fuel to the 4chan frenzy.

The moral of the story: "Everyone is biased and everybody is a hypocrite"

The bias does serve to balance the news though, since CNN (as you pointed out) bends the other way.

I personally like to laugh at Fox News, because as of this post, the most important breaking news story was that Bristol Palin had a son, and that Obama went golfing.

Lulz is the highest of all goals.
Nothing in life is worth anything at all if it isn't interesting, or doesn't at least lead to something more interesting.

But Fox probably blows things out of proportion.
Of course, I think most people would share their view on that particular subject.

It's not balance though. Having to useless news stations is just a double-barreled shotgun blast of ignorance that a saddening amount of people don't even recognise. It's funny to people that are at least mildly aware but it's harmful to people that aren't and depressing for people that are. I mean, it's not as flagrantly offensive and damaging as outright propaganda but getting news that's more objective than objectionable shouldn't be difficult in the age of the internet and 24-hour news cycles.

Which brings up a problem. Media basically tells people what and how to think. The same things goes for our educational system. When people have the power to control how others think. They can't help but, abuse the power and opportunity to further what they think is right. Journalist and other forms of media have a "moral" responsibility to bring us impartial news but, nobody does that since everybody has an agenda especially in politics.

Sometimes I fear we are slipping into an Orwellian society. It's like Big Brother is rewriting the history while it tells us what it wants us to hear.

I used to feel a lot of concern about it but it's really not a ridiculous problem. People naturally follow. No matter where you look on every level 95% of people and 100% of social groups (ranging from friend circles to global politics) have leaders and power structures. The problem is that with mass media it's on a global scale and the number and diversity of power is concentrating itself but as bad as it can get I ultimately trust the system to work itself out. There will be times in the future where unimaginably terrible people gain immense influence but there will also be times of peace and prosperity. The phrase "history repeats itself" applies not only to mistakes but to successes. As long as free-thought and critical thinking survive in a handful of people humanity can keep going in a positive direction.

In the event that independent thought truly becomes extinguished humanity will just atrophy and die. Look at North Korea. It's probably the most tightly controlled dictatorship in the world and it's one of the worst countries in the world. You might turn to China or Russia as examples of successful dictatorships (my ass they're democratic) but they only gain power when they become more liberal and open and the best area of China is Hong Kong which is essentially the China Town of the English Empire. Societies that don't create new things can only advance when they're surrounded by societies that do. Like i said, killing free thought leads to atrophy and eventually death.

I suppose that was sort of a tangent to media control but it's how I see it. Humanity isn't at any greater risk for what I guess I would call "turning to shit" than it ever was, really. Unification will probably just make the highs higher and the lows lower.

I hate FOX News for one reason (and that reason is all I need):

Bill O'Reilly

He's an asshole; almost everything he says is made up or exaggerated; and he thinks that every person who doesn't "love America" (based on his beliefs) is a terrorist who should be strapped to a bomb and dropped on a foreign country.

It has nothing to do with him being conservative. He's just an asshole who doesn't deserve his own show, let alone his own books and fans. If I ever argued with him, within ten minutes, I'm sure he would call me a Communist or terrorist and tell me to get the hell off his stage. And I'm not even a fucking radical!

Concerning the 4chan new things - 1) The station was talking about 4chan and similar chan sites, such as 7chan (which did have an /i/ board) and the many other ones out there. It wasn't talking about just one site because a lot of people frequent 4chan as well as the other sites (or they frequented 4chan in the past and moved to the other sites).

2) That wasn't really "FOX News." That was a local station, just like FOX 17 is a local station around here. And similarly, what gets said on FOX 17 here doesn't necessarily reflect on FOX News itself, the big channel that does 24-hour news.

Ah well, I'm not too familiar with the US broadcasting "system"...but it's still pretty stupid if you ask me. Nowadays most invasion threads get the NYPA (Not Your Personal Army) threatment and that's it. Same with habbo raids. And there are still people who protest against the CoS using those stupid Guy Fawkes masks  .

Well, that news report was made a good couple of months ago. Probably more than a year ago, actually. Not too sure. A lot's changed since the report was first broadcast.

Anybody else think Shawn Hannity needs an un-operable tumor at the base of his spine? Anybody watch the O'Reilly factor just to get pissed off at the motherfucker? Tis' good for the blood circulation.

While I generally dislike O'Reilly I do agree with him on the topic of "Jessica's Law" and the thought that child molesters need severe punishment. Raping a girl from the age of 4 to 8 deserves more than a 90 day stint in jail.

Same goes for Hannity. I generally dislike the guy but, I do agree with him on various subjects. Since I side with some conservative standards.

Overall, I think they are both idiots who are full of themselves. They may mean well but, they go about it in the wrong manner.
