Because long time ago I almost saw my life flash before me when a nail gun shot threw a wall missing my neck and almost killed me

How can it almost kill you if it missed?
Wat I ment that the nail missed the vital area by a inch and just gave me some stitches as a price to it.....

I think the english need a little work.

Either way, having life means accepting the end, and accepting that death takes everything and everyone, no acceptions. Finding meaning in life can mean very little, self enjoyment when you are alive can mean the world to one person and mean only dirt to another. Murder, violence, suicide are all choices that poeple make. Murder though is not a choice by the victem of course.

Alot of poeple I know say "Its what you do with your life that matters". I agree somewhat with this, but focusing so much on doing something important doesn't seem like it would be all the fun.

I've had my left leg seriously injured ( A rock had broke my knee-cap, and separted my leg) and I halfly owe my life to being able to get past that time.
and the physical rehab made me get into sports.

All I know is living life means that it will one day end. The Earth, itself will die, the sun will explode, and nothing matters if we can't at least send a message to others.

I'm not a fatalist, Fatalists are too cocky.

If life did go on forever we would have ALOT more problems than we do now. Take better care of Earth, Wars would devastate us, Viral outbreaks too...

But we'd alot have alot of good things come out of life existing forever. We'd have a huge relaxxing in relationships, crimes would drop considerably, we would be looking to the stars for a new home.

Me personally though, I want to know there is an end, something to say "At the very least, we have this in common." I want the comfort of an absolute ending.

Wait. Mabye I am a fatalist....

Enjoy life while you can, you'll never know when you'll die anyway. "Enjoy the moment, expand your horizon" - as the dude in my avatar said, in case you don't know him. In TV you'll see a lot of killing, yes - things that make you sad, and so sad, but ce la vie. But you can see a lot of things that makes you smile, too, don't you think? The world's cruel, but you don't have to think that it is. Live a happy live, and live will make you happy.

Well, really, it doesn't really have a meaning, in my opinion. We live for under 100 years, and we die, but what we do in that time, so many people just go through a cycle that leaves nearly 0 in anything spiritually gained. I mean, most often, people go to work, eat, drive home, spend a few hours with the family, sleep, repeat.

Really, it's totally pointless, and we don;t even realize it.

But you know what? Who cares? I know it's a life without purpose, without any point to behold, and yet I can freely say that I enjoy my life, by doing things that a few years ago, I would have never imagined myself doing.

If life had a meaning, then everyone would just do that whatever the meaning was. In reality, it's what we make of life's meaning. Honestly, if there was an actual define meaning to the meaning of life, then I'm sure that it would have an empty feeling, nearly useless, because we know what it is, and knowing just seems to be enough for humans.

There is, in my opinion, a simple explanation to this.

Today, we may say "Life is precious" because of moral hanging around our heads at all times, that killing someone will not stop at just his death, it will possibly ripple towards every single person he knows and affect them, affecting their neighbors in turn, until a vast number of people feel the death of a single one.

Human life is not precious. Human life is just conserved because of instinct.

When at the begginning of times, someone in your groupis killed, your life expectancy suddenly drops low, because thats less hunters, or less people to gather, or to scare enemies away.

Today, killing someone, thankfully, does not result in the death of others on a general basis, but that can happen. Most of the time, damage is only mental, thsu the whole affected group is less efficient, thus it slows everything arround them.

Also, we have emotions. It hurts us when someone we know dies. So we evade it as much as possible so that we do not suffer, out of self preservation, and out of mercy for others, but most of all ourselves.

It survival instincts talking, if you ask me.

some of my thought also went into this problem, we're supposed to be the superior biological creature in this very earth, well I believe in Darwin's evolution theory, that we are merely primates, and are considered to be very primitive as well.

thing is, we developed into stages and able to create and improve this whole earth as it is now, merely because our Intelligence, that one thing separate us from the whole species in earth, and thus conquered this whole earth time to time.

what I say is human life is as precious as other beings, is just that we humans have no other competitor, rather we competing against each other to earn supremacy, that leads into killing, war, and other damned stuff, I would say an ants life is more precious than a human who acts bastard, so it depends on the human that labeled their price of existence.

It seems that my form has changed to a different name.took me a minute to figure that out. well good choice in name, any way back to subject the problem with your idea is that if we human evolve we will become more intelligent and may cause more destruction or peace but we can never know sense we human are so complicated we cant tell if they are going to attack one another or they just act like nothing but zombies...... can you see what that means we are just so mysterious.

Because we are smarter, which makes us supirior. That is the only thing.

Oh the irony.

Humans are just as worthless as that bug you just killed. Stop killing bugs.

I agree we are just as worthless as a bug. We are superior because we are smarter, HA! I'll agree smarts plays a role in superiority, rock lee said what good is the sharingan if the body can't keep up. Quite simple none. Same in this situation. Let's say You are in a dessert you are armed with nothing but a water bottle, knife, and your intelligence, ok. You are stranded in said dessert. you find ways to find liquid (cactus juice) to put in the water bottle. and food (dessert snake or something) and stave off dehydration and hunger. You find a village with food, water, and a place to sleep and then all of a sudden... BAM!!! WILD T-REX APPEARS!!! And eats you and you die, game over! What use was that intelligence we humans so highly value, huh? Itelligence doesn't amount to much in the natural world, away from technology if you don't have the strength to back it up. Now on to the main topic. We consider human life precious because we are human simple is that. Same with an alien race they find their race precious cause they are aliens. But then again if a Blackhole were to devour earth we'd all be fucked anyway. Will the world stop working if all life was gone? No, planets would still be fusing, colliding, releasing energy and the universe won't give a fuck. So in my opinion no life is precious. Sorry for the long text.

I suppose a simple way to look at it is it's easy to take away a life but difficult to nurture and protect it. In my opinion life being considered "precious" is quite vague. Everyone has a different opinion about how precious life is. I'll get back to this after i contemplate it with some sleep but what I typed here is something that I just noticed to myself when I read this. Maybe I'll have a different thought when I wake up.

Some would say survival makes life precious, but every living being has its own method of survivng. Humans, as a whole, can change the environment to suit whatever needs.

We only consider ourselves the Alpha, (for lack of a better word), because we happen to not only walk upright, but also happen to have something called ingenuity. Think about that one for a second; we were cold, so we harnessed fire. We were weak, so we invented tools and weapons.

Even in a 'civilized' world, we are still savages. We just happen to have deadlier means of ensuring our survival.

At the end of the day, everyone and everything dies. It matters not if you're the richest person in the world, fortune means nothing when you die.

I think the only human lives that are precious to me are those of the ones that like and love me.

Without getting too existential;

We value human life because we evolved to want to live and to see our race succeed.

Edit: Any reasoning we come up with stems from this root drive within our brain.

People are getting too fragile these days over loss of human life. They would react at the time someone says there's someone in danger. Overall, I'm hoping newer generations improve to overgrow this obstacle.

Because we are the dominant species, it's okay to worry about our fellow humans just like animals in a colony do. It's mere survival. Plus there are people who find joy in helping others. And we can do an infinity of things together and one alone can do, I don't why should we find human life dispensable.

Is cause of pure instinct everyone is scared of dying, so in consequence one normally respect others life too.
But if u ask me personally, we are animals so we want to live and cause we live in society we tend to make something to protect us from what we are scared and that could be called laws that won't allow us to die or would punish someone from taking someone else life.
The sad part is we are like every animal, so we reproduce without thinking in future or consequences and our population keep growing and growing but cause we are at the top of food chain and don't have predators or something that can keep our population under control, at some time food and resources are going to not be enough for everyone to live so we are going to go back to where our instincts prevailed and start killing each others to allow our children or ourself to eat, live or have more resources for tomorrow (1 more person is a day less of food or something like that).

Sorry for my English I'm self-taught.

Human life is precious because we only live for a very short amount of time and in that time we either be one of those people that do or those people that don't.

This. No philosophical mumbo-jumbo is needed. Life is precious because we only have one, and it can be fun, pleasurable, and all kinds of things besides.

we humans also have it's own predator. that is human himself.

war caused many death. like the incident in Hiroshima and Nagasaki when US soldier bombing the place using Atom Bomb. that was the highest death ratio in history. the holy war can be consider as the same.

every life form has it's own predator. kill and gets killed. that's the cycle of this world.

if war never happens, then "Death" will be human's predator.

If US had not used nukes on Japan, then there is no doubt in my mind that the cold war would have turned in to WWIII. No one really knew what the true effects of the bomb we'er and the US and USSR would have been dieing to see the effects.

Humans are a drain on this planet. Earth would be far far better off if we had not existed, but in the long run I think we have much to contribute to the Universe.
