Hi, im trying to get into visual novels but I dont know where to start

Planetarian or Narcissu is a good place to start since both of them are pretty short. Narcissu is also free on steam.

I personally really like The Fruit Of Grisaia. It is pretty long though, my final play time was around 80 hours.

Tsukihime worked for me.

The game that got me really into VNs was VA-11 Hall-A. Highly recommended if you like Cyberpunk or 80s vaporwave. It's on steam if you're curious.

I recommend you Katawa Shoujo, it's the very first VN I played.
The concept might seem strange at first but the stories are very beautiful and heart-warming. Also the music is well-written and suits the game.

This topic is old, but maybe you're still checking it, or someone else will. If you don't necessarily need hentai, I think Raging Loop (light horror adventure) and 428 Shibuya Scramble ('24' with more comedy and less [sadly] Kiefer Sutherland) are amazing. Steins;Gate obviously, if you're into science fiction. Chaos;Child mixes suspense and sci-fi. If you're comfortable with older games and, therefore, older layouts and programming, 11Eyes and Heartwork are awesome and include some hentai.

I'm currently working through 'Riddle Joker' and 'Fuck Me Royally!'

I personally like the Yuzusoft series. NekoNyan publishes three of them that are highly recommended (Sanoba Witch, Senren Banka, Riddle Joker)
