This is why we never get the original Japanese voice acting. Stop supporting these kinds of releases, people. Does anybody here really want this game that badly? Go buy something else instead of supporting Waifu Simulator 2014: English Dub Edition.

For fucks sake. Yes I'm being a whiny bitch and no I'm not going to write a fucking essay on my reasons for wanting the original voice acting. I do have my reasons though (which I'm confident nobody cares about).

Throwing fuel into this thread.

I don't see a problem here. If anything, her costume looks less retarded. It's one thing that she decided to show some skin, but then her tits grew self aware and decided to tease further with some skin of their own? Don't worry, you'll find some titillating titage when the rule 34 comes out. You can trust Japan. (I've seen some decent Bravely Default shit.)

The problem is that it's entirely pointless censorship. Why even change something like this?

Though, I should mention that this isn't the reason why I'm not getting this game.

Spoiler:
Inb4 Art says I'm on a crusade or some shit.

Of course not having english dub only is a major ass pain but it doesn't really justify not buying a game if everything else appeals to me. Likewise, if I want japanese voice acting THIS BAD, I can play something else.

That said, the game might suck for all I know but I've already been through Hyperdimension Neptunia, and this one had japanese voices.

On a side note, altough hard to believe, I mostly find english playthroughs of games that HAVE the original VA and when I ask about it in the youtube comments, they think I'm crazy. It just shows how little of a fuck people (we're the minority) give about nihongo and how futile our efforts to "fight for japanese voices" is.. That's how I'm seeing things at the very least.
"Let's play Fire Emblem Awakening" I checked an american, german and french video, all of them chose English.

Gotta let go man.

I'm well aware that it's "censorship." I don't see improving the chick's garment as a problem. I already have Waifu Emblem: Inseminating, so rest assured I won't support this.

Tiki. Every time.

You probably shouldn't equate "Youtube" to "people". There are people who do give a fuck but I know we're still the minority. Fire Emblem isn't that niche though so that probably explains why those people all chose English.

You'd be surprised to find anything in japanese, even on niche games such as Ateliers or Neptunias. I'm actually trying hard to find one. Youtube isn't people but it still gives a pretty explicit overview of the situation. At the end of the day, Atlus USA gonna Atlus USA (affects EU too I guess). At least you guys have P5 announced for release. It usually takes months for us to get it here next... This is where I import it I know.

Still just a few people; doesn't mean anything.

That's one of the things that bothers me. I hate how everyone just accepts that as how Atlus USA does things and never does anything about it. This shit needs to change. The people who want the original game with English text and no censorship often get the short end of the stick and that's why I always get aggravated over this issue.

A long time ago, Atlus once cared about dual-audio and shit.

Now, it all be for maximizing that bottom-line.

I play all games with their original VA if possible but Atlus usually does a fairly decent job dubbing things some of the NISA English dubs that I listen to for the heck of it make me want to vomit.

Isn't Atlus just publishing it? They're not in charge of making the game.

Think Spike/Chunsoft is the one that developed it. Wouldn't it technically be up to S/C to do better dubbing rather than Atlus?

You're missing the point completely if you think this is just about the quality of the English dubs. And yes, Spike is the developer and Atlus USA is the company who is localizing it in the west. Atlus USA is responsible for the quality of the English dubbing as well as the decision to remove the original JPN voice acting.
0
Hum, didn't know the decision rested with Atlus.

Thought it was up to the developers.

If the rest of the game is good then I personally don't give a shit if it only has English dubbed voices. Still a day 1 buy for me after I played the demo.

I care, especially if it's bad English voice actors. By bad, I mean they just paid their front-desk lady $100 to do 5 character voices in the game. Hope to god that there is a mute character voice option.

I'm going to agree with Ammy on this one. I'm not too crazy on censorship, but menial censorship as a concept is pretty stupid in general. God forbid my moral self sees some underboob.

JP Audio is probably that's often make or break for me. Call me irrational, stupid and picky, but seiyuus are something I admire almost more than anything. Being an audiophile I carry around my set-up(Music device, Amp, Headphones, DAC, portable recharger) which is about $400, and the one I carry around friends($1,200), sound quality of anything is important to me.

But it's hard to be someone who respects Seiyuus since majority of the time it's a losing battle. I'd wager nine out of ten times we'd lose out on getting a JP voice option. Most people "don't care" about jp voice option because they're so intent on playing the game. Lost in translation is the biggest issue I always see when it comes to dubs.

There's that emotion that almost never carries over between shows from subs to dubs. Sure you get some amazing works like Domon(1) Kasshu(2), the cast of FeelMetal Alchemist Brotherhood(2) and Spike(1) Spiegel(2), but there are so many that aren't done justice. Sure it's fair to say not all dubs are bad, but for the most part, the mannerisms just don't sit right in American culture and it often just looks awkward and stupid.

I couldn't even finish God Eater because it was just so bad. Soul Sacrifice came with JP Audio as a DLC, I did not mind dropping 5 bucks for it, and if I remember correctly Bravely Default has a JP voice option as DLC as well.
If companies started putting JP Audio as DLC I would not mind dropping extra bucks for them, but for the most part it's a fruitless battle.

I really want FFXV to have JP Audio but I know it's a pipe-dream. I can dream though right? Asura's Wrath got JP audio due to fanbase(thank fucking god because it was absolutely godlike audio).

That's why the developers who aren't lazy rewrite the game to accommodate the western audience. I've seen puns/wordplay that I don't think could've been pulled off in japanese. It's just the nature of language. What creeps me out is seeing animoo clichés being played out in english. I played the 3DS demo and couldn't help but cringe during the "classmating" (an amusing euphemism because of its lack of subtlety; "mating") part where I have to hear some english speaking voice actress, who was paid to tell me that when my hand touches hers her hearto goes dokidoki and her cockles are set ablaze.

Maybe it's a North America perk, but my game came with the option.

But the dub isn't bad, based on the demo. This isn't Megaman X4 levels of bad.

I was summoned and no one notified me? God fucking dammit.

Also, it's official Ammy: you're worse than echo and lolis. You're Gamefaqs level obsessed now.

OT: Now, I just decided to get the demo some hours ago, and went through it. I'll bullet point my thoughts.

+ Interesting take on the battle system. It added all sorts of new and different aspects without most of them seeming too foreign
+ Entire concept, as cheesy and cringeworthy as it seems, somehow works and connects the game together well enough

- Feels a little choppy during Bonding scenes and dungeons, and really, the 3DS is not some little kid console. It can handle more powerful games well and smooth (as evidenced by the upcoming Smash Bros) I'm doubly irritated.
- The decision to have both 3D models AND 2D portraits for conversations. It feels awkward to me.
- This one is really personal and biased, but... the Classmating scene. DEAR. FUCKING. GOD, THE CLASSMATING SCENE!

Not gonna comment on the voicework or dungeon design yet, since it's just the demo and I'm hoping there's more and better later.

Overall, it's not bad. I might get it, if it's cheap or something, and I'm really bored.

Gamefaqs? Come on, this is just getting insulting now. I really don't complain that much about this. I'm not ranting daily and it's not like I'm constantly making threads about this topic or anything. Gaming is a big hobby of mine and I do get annoyed at how some games get localized. It's not like I blindly hate dubs though.
