Curious about VN's.

Hello Fakku & the VN team.

I was wondering what your current thoughts on VN releases currently are at the moment. From my current perspective it looks like people who read or have an interest in hentai have an interest in the VN side of it as well. However from what I can see it just looks like there arent many VN's at all these days being translated into english these days and having content etc uncensored.

The most recent example of a VN getting translated etc would be Starless and that looked like a good release to me, I did buy it and have a great time with it to be fair. But I am curious if anyone here might know what the process would be like for actually translating a VN. I would naturally presume that it is a lot more difficult than translating a hentai or doujinshi, since there is code and such involed.

Would you like to see any particular VN's have an english translation someday? Stop by, have a chat and let us know.

Fakku is mostly full of casuals when talking about VNs, hongfire is a "better" place to discuss eroge.

its the sad truth really. No one I know here is really into vns. I have played more then anyone I know.

That said I would be happy to discuss visual novels and eroge.

Starless getting translated should be interesting. Being an Empress game its full of clear and sometimes brutal femdom. Im quite curious to see what they are saying.

There are far too many that need translation

Starless is translated, actually. I've been tempted to play it several times, but looking at the screenshots on the VNDB turns me away every time. Any word on the story content? It seems interesting to read, but...that art. ._.

Starless is already in my huge eroge backlog.

I'm fortunate enough to have a copy of the newly translated Starless VN. I suppose that's why I brought it up here in the first place, haha. Yes even with the most hardcore scenes removed from the game being bestiality and scat the game and narrative itself is still hardcore for most people. That said I think sei shoujo's work is gorgeous and lots of VN's are fun to go through too. Currently have 'My Girlfriend is the President' on the backburner.

Ended up trying it anyway. God damn, you were right about this being intense. It's also pretty good, fetishes aside. Even stopped skipping over the h-scenes because they add to the writing. Just finished the second day and am actually looking forward to continuing this later. Wish more games went into these dark tones and themes without going overboard and appealing to every fetish out there and then some. Typos are both plenty and noticeable, though.

Yes, I know this one does exactly that later on.

Well, i know that this place is not too known for visual novels / eroge stuff, if the admin of this forum doesen't mind, places like hongfire and anime-sharing are more VN-oriented than here.

But, here i found few days ago that there are some old titles uploaded here... And made a list of them and what threads are with links working because i am working on a large project for years in order to make a library of earlier eroge/VN until present day, played a lot of them too in my free time, and have/had lot of physical bought in the past years.

If somebody is interested in that kind of project and wants to help increase the library, i'll give details privately, not wanting to keep this post too long to read.

Edit: List with working links(old but still working some of them), not uploaded by me, were uploaded by Kaimax

Found a copy of Starless at a convention. I was baffled. I never dared dream they'd release that title in English. Bible Black being my first eroge, I'm a huge fan of anything Empress.
Starless is everything you expect and more. It's probably the most disturbing thing I'll read for a while. The endings are well... bad. There's real tension when making decisions, it even asks "come inside/come outside" along the end of a particular route, but you know there's horror coming. This leads up to "the worst ending." and it does the name justice, this is the part where most of the censored bits are.

With Mangagamer also releasing Euphoria, fans of hardcore controversial VN games are really getting a treat. It's nice to see that they're pretty popular too.
