Hats of the Ancients tourney? Looking forward to it.

Hoping a PH team wins the wildcard.

Dota2? More like Brota 2. Valve has really excited me with all the promises they've made for Dota 2's official release, such as how it will not only be free to play, but all heroes will be available to players at all times, cosmetic items will be attainable from a random drop system similar to TF2's, and whatnot. Can't wait to see what they do. I'm personally hoping that they'll add Goblin Techies or Meepo sometime soon. I've already got Invoker, Faceless, and Morphling, but I need my fix on overly complicated or difficult heroes to play.

Noob question do I post my steam id or my profile name????

Your Steam ID should be visible at the top right of your steam window. Also, I haven't played Drow, Windrunner, or Lina because they're not my style, but I play a pretty damn good NP and I absolutely love Rubick. He's my favorite champ to play, bar none. I also enjoy playing Invoker, (QWvoker, Exortvoker can go to hell) Skeleton King, Chaos Knight, and Faceless Void.

Kunka's pretty damn good in a lane. If you have a friend you can play with, try playing a Kunka Disruptor lane. That combination is BULLSHIT, and is so much fun to play. A friend of mine and I play that combo whenever we want to win our lane without any trouble from anyone, lol.

Haven't played for weeks because I've been away from home and my friends are halfway across the world, but I did play often in the beta stage. Embarrassingly, my W/L ratio is high due to my friends being just that much better than me. The only peeps I know how to use properly is Broodmother and Spiritbreaker

Why dis thread no moar popular? This game is fucking awesome.
0
Thread's not as popular because Dota2 isn't openly available to everyone. I pitch in whenever there's something to respond to.

^Pretty sure you can buy in to the game for 39.99 or something.
0
You can, but I wouldn't really call that openly available to everyone, lol

You can buy beta access for $40, yes, but it is mostly paying for all of the hats that come with it. Actual beta access is worth less than $10. I cannot recall exactly what the price is. You can still sign up and get beta access for free if you are picked.

I can probably play most Heroes without too much difficulty. I played Both DotA 1 and HoN before Dota 2 for a few years each, so I am fairly experienced.

AFAIK, legally/technically, Dota 2 no longer stands for anything.

Would anyone mind sharing their Hero stats with a screenshot or something? You can get them from stats.dota2.be . If you log in with your Steam account, you can get specific stats for the Heroes you play. It is legitimate and secure site, AFAIK.

I am just curious since my average GPM on each Hero is a lot greater than in HoN. In HoN, my /best/ stats were in the 300 GPM range. For Dota 2, it is usually over 350...

I will share stats in this post in a few minutes.

Getting a 403 error from that image, unfortunately. Possible the imgur servers are down right now or something.

That is the very definition of being available to everyone, just at a $40 price tag.

The game is well worth the $40 tag in the minds of many hardcore MOBA players who have yet to receive an invite from Valve, though most of them probably have already gotten in one way or another.

My stats:sitting at 386 games played and 51.6% win rate. Haven't played much for the last 2 months, maybe around 30 games in total.

GPM is a pretty good indication if you are playing a carry, but doesn't matter for other roles (I would even argue that it is counter productive). Hard to imagine a CM/VS getting high GPM since aren't suppose to be last hitting. All their gold pretty much goes towards courier/sentry/observers.

I guess 40 bucks is worth it right now since it's gonna be F2P in the future, plus I heard buying the key rewards you with extra stuff.

But I wouldn't say it's worth it for most people who are new to DotA. Since the Tutorial and Coaching system still isn't implemented, I kind of pity them that they have to go through what most players of DotA had to. I'm sure 80% will be turned away by the complexity of the game and (I hate to admit this, since I'm guilty as charged) the stupidity, aggressiveness and overall attitude of most of the community towards newbies.

Still, dieing repeatedly is the greatest experience to learn DotA, and in any game, for that matter. So those who recognize this will undoubtedly learn faster than those who continuously wine that they die numerous times throughout numerous games.

It's a very rage intensive game, definitely not the most noobie friendly game out there. One thing that I found very helpful for beginners is the ability to watch live games and replays in 1st person. You can watch to see what the top players are doing, how they macro, last hit, etc. There are plenty of guides and other resources on the internet so it shouldn't be too difficult to learn the basics.

It is very time consuming though =P

If we had more of a Dota2 community here, we could make a Steam group for FAKKU's Dota2 population, lol. Help new players learn the game, etcetera etcetera.
