Hawken (Mech Combat FPS)

Hawken is an idie game being developed by Adhesive Games which has been described by them as a Mech Combat FPS. This trailer shows all the action in a spectator view, but they have promised a full FPS trailer some time in the future. The game is not finished, but if handled right, I think it could be really cool. The enviroment reminds me a bit of the style of Borderlands, but with the art direction of a war torn city and a focus on realism. The game itself is planned to be released digitally as a download and is expected to have a much lower price than a boxed game. The developers are looking to make it available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

This looks pretty interesting. I played the Mechwarrior games religiously back in the day. This might be a good game for multiplayer battles with the way they're making the city setting and the different buildings and pathways.

this definitely looks like a fun game, but will it live up to the hype once it gets released is the big question here.

I'll be expecting huge AF boss battles =D

If this game will turn out to be a full scale mecha *not the ZoE/AC style but more like Mechwarrior* and if they will have something like Steel Battalion controller , i will totally buy it. So far it looks outstanding, it's nice to see an FPS which is not WW2/V/etc etc and not a CoD clone.

The colors/graphics reminds me of Killzone 2-3.
The mech part reminds me of Front Mission Evolved.
The general combat reminds me of Call of Duty.


Interesting looking game, but will wait and see.

I think they stated that MP is indeed the only thing it will have. I could be wrong though.

Why not? Considering that it was designed like that from the beginning, one would assume that the MP is going to be good. They just didn't bother wasting time with a mediocre SP.

I never said that I won't play it because the MP is not good. However, I'm against online MP, it just doesn't sit well with me (call it a conservative mindset, or the thoughts of a retard, I don't mind). Simply put, since the end of junior high I enjoy games for their single player mode, not the MP.

Difference of tastes I guess. I pretty much only buy games these days if it has long-term value for me (either a good MP, or high replayability in SP).

Kinda reminds me of those gundam arcade games where you pod up and fight 5v5. Isn't mechwarrior I personally prefer the cel-shaded aesthetics of mechwarrior to this, signing up for dat beta.
