We are talking about Metal Gear and Hideo Kojima. This is in everyway possible.

Kojima wanted the Snake story to end, you think he'll put out his best work when he's being forced to continue a storyline he's no longer interested in?

What you say is logical, this new installment might lack compared to the previous games. But now we can only hope for the best.

i read that Kojima actually wanted the Snake story to end with the original PSX Metal Gear Solid (after all it was the 3rd in the series) but it's popularity made it continue on.

also i'm surprised how many games there are of Boss Snake. he's an awesome character but theres like... 4 games about him now? (Snake Eater, Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and now the new Ground Zeroes).

the thing i don't like about prequels is that it's pre-established that certain characters will survive so it takes away from some of the dramatic tension when the character is in a dangerous situtation.

Some crazy rumours about the bandaged guy in the interview. Some are starting to say he's actually CG.

He is, If you look at the shadows on his right cheek, there are soft pixels that can be seen. Also, It's Kojima giving a good demo of his Fox engine. Very human like nature. He is going to blow the water with this engine, no doubt.

This somewhat confirms that whole 'This is the effects of war' thing.
Basically the main rumor out and about is that the game is about Snake dealing with extremely heavy PTSD.
But another interesting take is that the game is about a man who is simply just crazy as it is spelled out to the player that everything [the game series]was simply imagined by him and that in reality he is a deranged killer [possibly the real psycho mantis] egged on by a man in a mask. The game happens when his sanity and reality begin to fall apart in the worse way possible.
This might be the game snake actually dies in this time.

Also the 'interview' gave a bit of bizarre fuel to the rumor. The guy looks exactly like the guy that helped snake up in the trailer. If the snake is dead thing is correct, then the guy who helped him out survives to the end of the game. [for the whole 4th wall thing]

This is starting to sound way too sketchy to me. Also sounds a bit too much like the Indoctrination Theory for my taste as well.

I honestly wish the Metal Gear series would be taken somewhere else. Bring in a whole new cast of characters with a whole new story. Focus the plot back onto the Metal Gear, and tone down all the social commentary and batshit conspiracies.
Why can't this happen? Didn't the MGSolid series end with 4? Put some new blood back into this franchise.

Taken somewhere else = Revengance.
Whole new cast of Raidens.
Tone down social commentary and conspiracies = Not even a metal gear game.

Yeah, those sound like swell ideas.

-Revengance was not "somewhere else", it was the same place but told through the wacky craziness of Platinum Games. I meant give a new threat that makes sense, with a new cast that works within the MG universe and a new hero. If it was written well it could work.
-It wasn't really a new cast because of Raiden and Sunny. He was so out of character that it may as well have been a completely different character, like the ones in the office helping him out. I genuinely didn't mind those guys, even the girl who spills coffee on her keyboard every other minute. I mean, I guess you could still have Sunny because she's a part of the Metal Gear future, but Raiden didn't need to be there.
And by "tone down the social commentary" I mean stop having blunt, elongated speeches on shit that has barely anything to do with the plot. Maybe there's a mention here and there, definitely put it in subtly, but don't have it the way it was because it's bad writing.

You're a fellow MG fan, right? Are you telling me you enjoyed listening to the characters go on and on and on about social issues that were barely relevant to the story? That's not a good thing to be a staple of the series.

The way I see it, taking it away completely WOULD make the game barely Metal Gear, but toning it down, making it subtle, would improve the game and the series as a whole.

You do realize that characters have those speeches about their countries or their past that INFLUENCED them to become what they are, right? Gurlokovich wanted to help the Soviet Union come back, Ocelot was a triple agent, Solidus was against the Patriots, The End wanted one final good battle and the list goes on.

The story for MGS1 was, "a group of terrorists have taken over Shadow Moses, find out why and stop them!" but then it turns out that we learn why Liquid and the FOXHOUND group did it.

MGS2 was simply "a group of terrorists have taken the Big Shell, the president and hostages, they also want $30 billion in cash!" but it turns out that it was Solidus wanting revenge.

MGS3 originally was "Sokolov needs to come back to the US, infiltrate and get out without being seen." and then we get the entire reason once you finish the Virtuous Mission.

You see, these people aren't just born with thoughts like "THE SOVIET UNION WILL RISE AGAIN!" "I SHALL FIGHT BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I DO!" "I'll be a cyborg ninja in the future!", no. Instead they give us their motives and reasoning why they fight.

This makes how many comas for Big Boss? Three?

Also, Kaz got fucked up real bad.

Damn I'm excited. Can't wait for this game to come out. The music was good as always. I like Kojimas taste in music.

The game will be set in an open world and Snake will awaken in it after 9 years in coma. Said by Kojima himself.

Open world Metal Gear Solid, thats awesome.I gotta continue Peace Walker.

This song and trailer is fucking beautiful.

No David Hayter...?

Hmm....Not sure how i feel about that. Obviously it kinda sucks because he was the voice of snake. Not sure how i'd find the new voice of snake. Unless it's the guy who did Big Boss in MGS4, this might not go very well. Might be another Sonic The Hedgehog or New Dante incident.

Looks like Kojima pulled out all the stops on this one, never before has CG cutscenes in an MGS game impressed me so much since Guns of Patriots.

And to believe we're going to get a game that could come close to actually top THAT game starring what could be Big Boss's reason for leading the evil FOXHOUND since we saw a younger Psycho Mantis in the trailer. I'm already so stoked.

...Ok if (and I can honestly assume without any regret say this) this game came out on PS4 then that will probably be the only game (aside from KH) that I will play let alone buy a ps4. Really am curious to figure out what is going on (plot wise). Oh and there is one thing I just can not stop thinking...if we know that Big Boss dies in MGS4 how will people (let alone me) react to Kojima making a scene where Big Boss "dies"? Maybe there might be a twist.

Tell that to the whole cbox, during the announcement, everybody was not happy with Kojima's decision.

Well, it was kind of obvious the feedback to this revelation wasn't well received among the majority, but then again, Kojima could be trolling us by keeping more surprises we may not be aware of about the voice actor change issue. Though knowing Sutherland's roles, I think he can pull off a decent Big Boss.
