You know, I remember back before I discovered Minecraft. Back when I remembered what the sun looked like or what other people's voices sounded like. Back when I ate and spent time doings things that weren't Minecraft.

But then I started playing Minecraft. And now, two weeks later, my underwater castle made out of diamond and obsidian is nearing completion. For those of you who don't know what Minecraft is here's a Penny arcade comic that sums it up pretty well. And here's something from our friends at Team Fortress 2. I am bringing this game to you because I think it is awesome, and therefore I want to share it and be cool and accepted.

For those interested here's the game only 9€ (roughly 13$ Canadian*)

Or free to download the not-full version. textStill in alpha, and not for long, and the price doubles at beta, so buy it fast! *Edit* No longer alpha. Now beta.

And for god's sake, don't go outside at night.

    Spoiler:
*Because I am Canadian and Canada is cool. Our milk comes in bags, and we have hockey and the queen on our money as well as quotes from the book the Hockey Sweater.

Trust me, I feel your pain bro. I've built a humongous castle with a village, all surrounded by multi-floor castle walls complete with rampart-mounted cannons and a redstone drawbridge. Minecraft is the last game I thought I would ever get addicted to, and now, it's the last game I think I'll ever grow bored of.

Although, this thread seems to be of infinitely better quality than the last two, so I'd say it becomes the one in the master list.

Currently I'm hosting a Minecraft server that several Fakku members play on. It's by invitation only, though, so if you want to join, let me know.

    Best texture pack around, bro.

And, I'd play on a multiplayer server, but I CBA to deal with all the glitches in it right now. I'll be hosting my own for some friends of mine once SMP is less glitchy, though.

Can somebody please explain the fun of this game? I'm not trying to troll. Every time I see a video and some ecstatic explanation for the awesomeness that is allegedly happening on screen, I just don't get it. It just looks like a monumental waste of time. I played with legos as a kid and I got over it. As such, I can't justify dropping 10 dollars on something that just seems so pointless.

This is the best way I can explain it: Minecraft is magic. No, really. Minecraft has a tendency to bring out the creative side of you. In a screenshot, you can't really grasp what's going on unless you've played it. The thing is, though, for everyone, Minecraft addictions start out as mild curiosity. "Hey, this looks cool, maybe I'll give it a try." They give it a try, and before they know it, they're constructing a multi-level stone tower to the heavens with cactus palisades and canons to fight off spawns of creeper insurgents.

Minecraft draws out the imagination just as much as it draws out the side of us that used to play with legos. I, too, got over legos--but Minecraft is what legos couldn't be: immersive, addictive, expansive. (To be completely honest, you can probably create more in Minecraft than you could with just legos.)

It certainly is impressive. I've heard the world can be up to 4 times bigger than the earths surface, DAMN. Some of the natural formations you find can really blow you away. I would like to see more content added to it though; and the option to add more survival elements such as heat, hunger, thirst, blood loss but also making sure that it's optional because the game does seem to be loved for its simplicity.

Sigh, I played Minecraft ounce and I have to say, it was pretty fucking good. Sadly it has stopped working on my computer/browser. I think I might just buy the full game since its so cheap right now. It reminds me a bit of Dwarf Fortress for some reason. Mayhaps its the whole "build your castle from the ground up" sort of thing.

I found out about it courtesy of Penny Arcade:

I even see some people playing it during class on their laptops.

Ok, I bought the game trough PayPal. However, the game won't register that I paid for it and keeps telling me to buy it again. Can someone:

    A. Tell me how you got it and what happened so I can try to fix whats going on and;

    B. Tell how your suppose to acquired it, I suspect I might have done something wrong.

In other news: I am a dumb fuck. It works.
