So i replaced my broken 3DS and got a new Persona 3DS at GameStop, told the clerk who helped me get it, "Oh i also need Monster Hunter"
He went to get a copy and said "You cant get Monster Hunter, were all our"
O-O "guess ill just go to walmart"
"isnt their glass still stuck for games?"
;-; "just give me the new DBZ game then"

Just went to a Gamestop to return one of my copies of Monster Hunter. I didn't realize it was in that high of demand. It seems it was sold out at my place too.

10 dung bombs... I threw 10 fucking dung bombs at it to shoo it away, and the other monster just fucking followed. All the stuns and thunderblight and paralysis...

Whoever though two Khezus at once was viable for an HR2 quest needs to get shot. :/

Akantor= Flash bombs...Everyone needs to bring flash bombs...

And stick together, running around separately will get you picked off one by one by the dude.

Oh I have all 5 flash and mats to combine. Just that, filthy casuals who are too cheap to use items are the ones who keeps getting the quest failed. I might as well solo him at this rate, but it takes so long...

Okay, got the Akantor down, but that Teostra...

Damn that Teostra... last one I need to do before the Urgents pop, but good lord is he cheap. Oh, let me knock you down with this blight blast fog swipe. Now, whether you wait on the ground or get up instantly, I'm going to just set off an explosion the exact moment you're standing without invincibility frames but before you can try to evade.

Time to see how feasible it'll be to make a Biology armor set that isn't super weak to fire or half the armor I have now...

Welp, not going to be feasible. Would have to do all sorts of shenanigans to get it, and the Gore Magala armor is both super weak defensively (minimum of 80 lower defense) and has like, -47 fire resistance. Guess I'll have to just keep trying when I'm more awake.

*edit*

Well, being more awake helped. Killed Teostra on the first try this morning. Got Dalamadur down too. Right after the 10 minute warning popped up, I had enough time to think "well, if I get down to one minute I guess I'll just end via subquest to ensure I get something out of this", and then boom he died from me hacking his toenail. On to Ukanlos!

Holy crap, that difficulty jump from HR to G rank is absurd. Absolutely absurd.

Best thing to do would be to find a weapon you like (just try the various "trial" quests), because enjoying a fighting style is far more important towards getting better than just going for what feels the strongest.

Once you've decided on a weapon class, find the youtube videos by GaijinHunter to see what sort of combos work best with it to get the most out of that weapon. You don't have to necessarily do the best combos all the time, but there's a lot of things you might not notice without his videos. For example, without his videos I wouldn't have learned how to charge the shield on the Charge Blade, or how to do an Ultimate Attack with it. Skills don't need to be optimized until at least high rank, so that'd give you a while to get used to the game before needing to worry about aiming for a specific armor set.

GDB gave some good advice, but before you actually consider a weapon class, look up ProJared's tutorial videos on Monster Hunter. He has three for general playing, and one that covers new stuff in this entry. Then, once you feel like you have a grasp of how to play the game as a whole, pick up a weapon and starting learning its moves.

Also, don't be afraid to give your Skype to @freeotakughost36 so he can add you to the Fakku MH Skype group. We easily discuss and talk about all this stuff there.

So I've been playing a lot of Mon Hunt 4 the past few weeks and I think I'm alright. Still pretty new though, haven't hit G-Rank in Caravan yet, and I just got to High-rank in Guild. This is my first Mon Hunt game so I still am fairly new to most of the concepts.

I'm just wondering what would would be an ideal skill-set for Greatsword. Crit Draw and Fast Sheathe seem like no-brainers, but others I'm not so sure...

The best thing to get for GS is focus since charge attack is what its all about. Although if u want, u can also go and try to stack punish draw with what u have, apparently its a fun way to play GS.

New meta for 4G now includes spamming charge with the highest attack possible. for basic game play, you need crit draw and focus skill, then roll -> sheathe -> repeat.

Even if that's the meta is does sound a little dull. I might just go with punish draw.

Though in case I want to switch weapons (because I highly doubt Greatsword is the ideal weapon to use on all fights) what would you recommend that either plays differently or covers for weaknesses the GS has?

I'm biased on GS so can't say much. If you want good fire power and defense, I guess you can go with gunlance. If you want mobility, try #Swagger Axe since it can cover a lot of ground. GS lacks in those 2 honestly.

The Greatsword draw build is good for most situations, although for multiplayer's sake doing pure dps makes things quicker since you can be greedier(although one could argue anything usually works in multiplayer).

Earplugs, Tremor Res is good, because you can get a quick smack in while a monster's wasting his time. Handicraft is good for anything not purple, Sharpness and Fencing are nice but not necessary. Just build lots of raw damage and you should be fine.

It goes over some of the basics.

Critical Draw + Focus

Only Efenbaum can fully make use of punish draw. He's that good.

Hey I got a quick question about elements. I know some enemies are strong or weak against certain ones, but how exactly is the damage calculated? Does it mean that the number next to the element is the elemental damage added on to the raw damage?

Also, to inflict blights on enemies is it how many times you hit them or the total blight effect damage you do on them? Because I've been using the Dios Blade because I hear blast is good for getting body parts, but I wasn't sure if just using a quicker weapon would be better if I want to get the blast effect. Ditto when it comes to poison.

Also I want to use the Diablos armor set since it has Crit Draw and Sheathing, but obviously since it's the base armor set you can get better versions of it. Would it be worth using armor spheres on it for now since it's the only armor that has both skills (besides Brachyidos which only has +3 for Crit Draw) and switching later or should I save my armor spheres for something else?

Monsters have hitzones, and each hitzone has a corresponding damage multiplier on it. One for raw damage another is for elemental damage. Though unlike in raw damage, the modifier for element is pretty low and usually can only be useful on parts that can make your wep bounce.
