The "Last Game You Beat" Thread

0
It's been a while since I've beaten any games, because of my budget, I only own a 3DS and a Wii, and I got a NES and 7 games for it and an original Xbox with 2 games for it. Not much when compared to other gamers. I might get a Wii U for my birthday. Hopefully.

The last game I've beaten was Pokemon Y. Holy shit, that was in like November.
Mostly I game on and off, and I try to beat as many games at once (stupid, I know).
Currently I'm trying to beat Megaman 2, Megaman 5, LoZ: Link Between Worlds, Bravely Default, Earthbound and Mother 3 (aiming to finish EB before M3). I tend to have a case of ADD where I only want to play a specific game, play it for like 10 minutes, and then say "i'm not in the 'mood' for this type of game" and play something else. Occasionally, I will make short but big bursts of progress. If I run out of games then I just screw around on youtube watching other people actually make progress in games (for the most part. Game Grumps...)

Spec Ops the Line. I liked how Spec Ops constantly harassed the generic FPS stereotype then proceeded to copy it with poor AI, monster boxes, turret sections and scripted scenes galore. I think it was alright though, the horrors of war theme was okay but not quite there.

Hm... Well, if we count the rerolls, I'll say Assassin's Creed III.
But as the last game I beat for the first time, I do believe it's Far Cry 3. That last part, the poker play, is really intense.

Shovel Knight an indie game that could give Bastion a run. Yes it was that amazing.

PC: Saint Row IV (Finished story, onto challenges)

Crap....I have more games to finish rather than completed =/

Finally went back long enough to beat Watch Dogs. Could have been a little better story wise, but was still pretty good. Just not the revolutionary game they were making it out to be.

artcellrox The Grey Knight :y
Except for the optional assassination missions which for some reason count as main missions, I beat GTA 5's story mode. Pretty damn amazing world, characters and even the official score was pretty well done. I haven't had this much fun in a GTA game since Vice City. 9/10 loses a point because the cops are absolute bs.

I lost faith in the series after the third one.

OT: I recently beat Outlast and it's DLC "Whistle Blower". Awesome game but it's only scary on the first playthrough; so the replay value is really low in my opinion.

Finished the last episode of The Wolf Among Us yesterday, and really enjoyed how things wrapped up at the end. Might give it a second playthrough using different choices, but not right now.

I beat Pokemon Y after having owned it for about 8 months.

I actually stopped making progress at the 8th gym badge because I wanted to get a shiny Froakie. About a month was spent on and off on that due to the RNG spitting on me. No progress. For a month. Just one month of going around Lumiose City Tower. I have disowned more babies than anyone would admit to.

But I finally got him and brutally beat down everyone in my way. Every time I got into a boss fight, I played Bonfire by Childish Gambino. It made the experience all the more memorable.

Story was fucking excellent. I liked most every character and they all looked beautiful. Johto is still my favorite region but Goddamn Kalos' history is fucking dark, and I love it.

A/10, would watch again.

Really been meaning to get around GTA5. Guess I'll wait for the PS4/Xbone port once I get one later this year hopefully.

Some recent completions:
- New Super Luigi U, took a break after the Mario portion and this was a blast. This is the only NSMB game from that line that I've really enjoyed and actually finished. A lot better than the DS/Wii one to me and they had a cool spin with the Luigi game.
- Shovel Knight, the final boss gave me chills. Quite possible my GOTY, for reals.
- FFXHD, was fun going through this again. Was one of my least favorites back in the day, but I wanted to give it another shot and I'm glad I did. Enjoyed it a fair amount this time around. Not bad, but I might put Lost Odyssey above it. After playing that two years ago, it was so easy to see how similar the games were with the same devs and all.

Zone of the Enders.

Beat this game in four hours. Main character was annoying, but relatable. The game kind of thrusts you into the story despite the ridiculous 5 minute preview opening before the title screen.

This game was a lot of fun most of the time, and the designs for each mech was goddamn beautiful. It felt like a pilot episode of an anime, though, what with the ending cutscene feeling like the end of the first part rather than the end of the game. This franchise really deserves a continuation, because Jesus, man, which side will be chosen? Rebels or Feds? Will Ada fulfill her programming? Will Jehuty be the prototype of many mechs to come in a huge ass war of manned super-mechs?

Fuck, Hideo Kojima. Make another game.

7/10, would lovingly strangle during sex.

Playing the second one eventually.

Last games I beat were: Kabuki Quantum Fighter (NES), Alien Syndrome (NES)and The Wolf Among Us (PS3)

The Wolf Among Us. Really good story but I expect that above gameplay from Telltale at this point, it's not like I expect the gameplay to be amazing since it really is only point and click (but they do that well the entire game over so it's not like I'm complaining). Really drew me in with the modern day premise of fairy-tale characters with a darker setting and story, plus the ending was really well handled. So probably a 9.5/10 since I never really give a 10/10 for any game unless it really stands out for me. Really want Season 2 now!

Just finished Drakengard 3. While it isn't a perfect a game I greatly enjoyed it. Something I will never forget.

Spoiler:
Fuck that last boss fight though, bullshit.

Finished Shovel Knight yesterday and man, what a throwback to platformers of the NES era. Can't wait for the boss DLC.

Next up: One Piece Unlimited World Red.

Felt very Persona-esque with the mega-dungeon, focus on schedule, a rock-paper-scissors counter-system providing special attacks with several successive counters etc. For the most part it's simple design is rather commendable, requiring creativity when your tactic goes awry.

I'm not really sure if I should compare this to F/SN but if I had to say F/E is a far-cry to be called a relative. F/E has issues in terms of actually giving time to flesh out it's characters and tends to cram interaction with your nemesis for the week(you fight a boss every week)into the last seconds which gets really dull fast. However in simulating a Holy Grail War F/E was pretty slick, you had to piece together the identity of the boss(the bosses are historical/mythical figures like Lu Bu or Gawain)from brief skirmishes with them in the dungeon(or events/minigames) and succeed in exploiting those weakness or suffer a crushing defeat when boss time comes around which is how I felt the Holy Grail War should be played. They put a lot of detail into making the allied Servant likable...but they skimped over what made them resentable too which I think is a shame.

I can't say it was bad but I get a pretty depressed feeling knowing that F/SN is probably as good as it gets for the Fate series. I'm in for Fate/Extra CCC mostly because the erotic level almost hits Eroge proportion and this game was kinda fun.

How does it stack compared to Nier?

Nier has a much better story but I favour the gameplay of Drakengard 3 more. Drakengard 3 gameplay was funner. Story-wise Nier had that depressing and dark story whereas Drakengard 3 wasn't as dark but more twisted and fucked up. Both had moments that made me sad.
