The first H-manga I've read that could be construed as a freudian analysis of the main character. He starts of placing fantasy over reality, and each chapter is his mind trying to correct that mistake. In the first chapter he realized how foolish fantasy was, in the second he learned how much danger lies in becoming to wrapped up in fantasy, in the third he came to understand the loneliness that comes from isolating oneself from the real world, in the fourth he found that if one waits for "destiny" to strike they can lose control of their lives, and in the fifth/sixth this culminated in him coming to terms with reality, and choosing it over a seemingly superior fantasy.

This whole manga is a simple story about an Otaku learning the value of reality. I have to say, I'm impressed. Definitely one of my all time favorites.

i agree completely i was thinking the very same thing. the story and the story inside the story was very very good. both creative and beutifully executed

i found the loophole in this manga, which answer the reality
chapter 5 page 10 "did you forget i come here everyday".
chapter 6 page 2 "when you played this game and you fell in a coma?"

a logic error happen here thus it is easy to say that the real world is the yuka the MC fall in love with. The logic error is when MC is in coma state how can another yuka said that she visited him everyday , this means she assumed that the MC are not in coma and acknowledge that she come every day

This is a story of accepting that no matter how often you try, fantasy cannot become reality as he accepted in the beginning. That not everything can have a "reset" button in life, as he learned and that one must continue to strive forward.

The reason the ending is left blank is because the author is telling us that it is our story. That accepting reality and differentiating it from fantasy and ideals is necessary. The answer that we get in life will always be a "?" but that "?", just like the ambiguously confessional reply at the end, is where we write our own story and become the hero of our own story, whether it is glorious or tragic, joyful or sorrow, or happiness and anger. Embrace everything reality has and become your own personal hero.

"Nothing is true, Everything is permitted."

Huh..wha..wai.....EEEEEH!! That was my reaction to the ending,LOL. So at the second last part, the dialog which was "You doubted my existence. But you....do you think you are real?" was said by the blonde girl right? Anyway great series, though I wished we could know the girl's response to the confession at the end. Oh and thank you Vanilla Man....whoever you are!!!
    Skywolfe (Mon Oct 24, 2011, 4:21 am) +1 points
Personally, I think her reaction was the following picture. :D

But in all seriousness... I think my brain blew a fuse. What a complicated way to get to your eventual vanilla ending. o.o Also, never let me play H-games.

"There's a cute girl here, and you're wavering?!"

Cute? More like fucking hot. I'd be confused as hell about reality and fantasy, but if a smoking hot chick like that was riding me I'd be more set on sorting out my boner then ask questions later.

The more I look at it, the more I think that it went like this: in the 5th chapter he goes nuts after seeing Yuka with another guy and somehow hits his head (table, wall, whatever). The images are in a sequence to suggest that perhaps he hit the back of his head really hard, which brings him to his knees and makes him fall flat. He is delirious and his mind stays on Yuka in his state of distress. Desperate to escape the pain, he looks to the computer, thinking to go back into the game world. But he blacks out.

I think the 5th and 6th chapter are not the game, but rather a dream his mind conjured by combining his obsession with the ero-game and his desire for Yuka to return his feelings. And it is, of course, within this dream that he realizes what's truly important to him. So when the real Yuka wakes him up, he confesses.

The line that really pushes me to this thought is the last bit: "Did you hit your head?!" while the panel displays what looks like a table and mini-refridgerator.

But I could be wrong. Perhaps the ero-game is just indeed magic sent to yank his mind back to reality and out of the fantasy world.

I reeally hope there's an extra chapter that concludes this. Leaving the story like that is just too...frustrating, in a bittersweet way. Pge 23 really tugged at my heartstring.
