It's only Homunculus that can make such a deep and complex romantic ending as this. I personally love it.

Girl loves the guy. Girl loves her mom. Mom needs treatment overseas. She has to go. If he loves her, she would have to choose between them. Instead, just sex. In the end, he "confesses" and she realizes this. Happy but sad, she leaves. He realizes the truth, sad but happy he....-insert Homunculus sequel-
