The day has arrived at last! The final chapter of Velvet Kiss is ready. But as we mention in the afterword, we don’t want this to mark an end to the series, but rather, a new beginning.

We hope you’ll be able to experience the finale on your own and take what you want out of it. Harumi Chihiro continues to have a fantastic flair for keeping the reader enthralled and throwing out a few surprises along the way. We hope we’ve played some role in communicating her unique gift the the rest of the world as we watch her talent grow ever greater.

Back when we started Soba-scans, the idea of something we’d worked on being licensed never even crossed our minds. After the late 90s, there were very few h-manga licenses for the next decade and it seemed like it was a part of the manga industry that no company ever wanted to touch. But now we seem to be in the midst of a new attempt to bring the best parts of this genre to the rest of the world, and we hope it’s very successful. Perhaps we’re biased, but we don’t think there’s a better series to do this with than Velvet Kiss. That’s why we’re trying to encourage everyone not to forget the series and to pick it up once it’s available in June.

With that in mind, we want the licensed version of volume 4 to be the definitive English version. Consequently, we’re not going to build a volume 4 collection or scan the print volume when it comes out. We won’t be rehosting the previous chapters either, as it would potentially undercut the success of the print version. We want new readers to be able to pick the series up in print and enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed. Trust us, we’re willing to bet on it.
