[Manga] Gantz: G

Well, here we go yet again. Looks like the protagonist this time around is a bad ass looking female version of Kei. Too bad she doesn't seem to have any bad charcteristics that would make me enjoy watching her growth as a person. The one thing I liked about the male Kei was that he wasn't the typical goody two shoes protagonist. He had real world issues with an attitude to match it. This girl seems like a cookie cutter heroine like Lightning from FF13.

Anyways, There's also a movie coming out in 2016.

I feel like a minority in that I enjoyed gantz all the way through the ending, and actually enjoyed the final arc more than the rest. I'm looking forward to this.

Interesting, hoping it's not a shit-show of plot holes this time around. Really interested in knowing if she's a descendant / reincarnation / alternate reality version of him. First chapter seemed basic enough, jumped right into it.

Edit: Just hit me that the two "Veterans" were Nishi and Izumi.

Dropped the original, but I kept following the scans and, well, I'm glad I sold the manga after seeing how the story turned out.

I do have hopes for this though, time will tell if I'll manage to enjoy it.

I'm one of the few who stuck through the anime and manga, manga being definitely better.

Read the first chapter and it wasn't much of anything. Could go either way.

While reading the chapter, I noticed that sometimes the anatomy gets pretty derpy(it's hard to get used to the new art style when it pales in comparison to the original), but overall the art is decent. I'm just glad Gantz is still popular. I really hope some of the questions left by the original manga get answered, like: what happened to all the aliens that got captured by the hunters, what's up with the men inside Gantz, what happened to all the aliens that got captured by the hunters, what happened to all the aliens that got captured by the hunters, what happened to all the aliens that got captured by the hunters, what happened to all the aliens that got captured by the hunters, and what happened to all the FUCKING aliens that got captured by the hunters?!?!

9 chapters in and this is starting to remind me of FF X-2. I was afraid of that.

I enjoyed reading Gantz for the action, but the story itself got way too messy towards the end. They start introducing so many things, give you so many questions, and then end it with "Oh here you go, God alien thingy" and then "Kei, kill the final boss or the earth is fucked! You did it? K, happy end!"

For this new series, I'm hoping to see things from the previous one come back, and hopefully develop them more (Vampires, results of unfinished Italy battlez etc.)

Anyway, so far the manga has been eh. I welcome a more morally grounded protagonist over male!Kei, but the story is definitely forgettable so far (and that wannabe idol is a pain).
