A List Of Reps

KloWn: this guy is the c-c-c-combo breaker of reps. He doesn't count, though 9000 seems like a real long-term goal though. It's not hard to tell who has real respect in the forums. Browsing and interacting the forums will eventually let you know whose opinion is valid and good and whose opinion is just plain bull. It almost goes without saying that the older you are in terms of FAKKU! years, the more respect you have, and above a rep of 10 that's not due to uploads will earn you some real respect, provided you know why that person is getting the rep.
These 09'er's, which I dubb the third generation, are really pushing the envelope of nonsensical antics, but I would take that over the late 08'ers during Motemote season where a bunch of noobfags came in and made the forums a mess. I was literally redirecting threads every time I browsed the forums.
Damn young'ns. Why, I remember back in my day, when you wanted internet you had to set aside a day so ya could connect with to yer dial up. Couldn't be havin people callin you and knock'n ya offline now could we? Nuttin worse than taken 4 hrs to load one of them .jpeg's only to have it fail because yer mother in-law couldn't remember her grankids birthday.
Kids nowadays can get their hentai with just a couple clicks of the ole mouserthingy. Why I remember when it took a day an a half to down load one of them doujins. We respected our elders back then. Now, all of this here gobbledygook has gone and messed up our FAKKU!.

Technically, I'm quite new to the forums but I think that the rep system could use a be of re-vamping. Possibly including a high post count to +/- rep people would help as the newer users cannot randomly +/- rep people for a nonsensical reason. The rep system really doesn't do much other than provide bragging rights. Usually people look towards the post count which signifies that the user has been on the forums for quite some time now. Your reputation has nothing to do with your status within Fakku as many people get or lose their reps for dumb reasons anyways.

I've seen people with high post counts that I totally do not respect due to the content. There isn't a middle ground, guys. You have to take post count and rep AND interaction in the forums to know who to respect, which is what really matters. And even if you increased the post requirement to rep, it most likely won't affect the douches negging rep others due to the fact that they too have high post counts. Even people who are Elites and Elders alike neg-rep others, and most likely they do it continuously as well. This solution is impractical as I can't see it amount to anything other than screening out the lurkers and requesters and low-level idiots.

I'm more inclined to believe that the people who care enough to -rep someone they don't like or because they just love to dole out -rep to someone, doesn't matter who, every day are people who've been here long enough to have passed their "omg this is all so shiny and new to me" phase.
@Bushy's idea: I'm not sure I'd like the idea of never being able to +rep someone again just so I don't have to put up with someone doing the internet equivalent of doorbell ditching me every other day.
I'm not sure if anyone has attempted to suggest this or not so far but I think it would help if that small list of where you've gotten -/+ rep recently in your profile was more of a permanent list that people could look at. Then people could easily see who earned their rep and how (assuming that someone wanted to spend the time to do it). This would avoid issues of bickering because you know who -repped you but would also somewhat eliminate the point of someone -reping you for no good reason.

@Ramsus: you mean like a complete record of posts repped on? That could work, but we would have to somehow find a way to mini/maximize the size of the list so that profiles aren't pages long. It could work, but the purpose of doing so is eluding me for now. (It's really late at night... not functioning too brightly.)

I believe the option to opt out of the reputation system is our best course of action, I would gladly remove my ability to gain rep to be able to remove the ability of those who dislike me due to past grievances to derep me. I already know who to respect, I don't need a number to tell me who to respect. In fact if I could hide everything that has to do with rep I would gladly do it; I would never have to see a "this user has received +1 reputation for this post", never be temped to look or track where some users have been getting rep.
I've already put it out of my mind as much as possible, but I still can't stop myself from looking every now and then; if I could remove the temptation I would gladly take the limitation.

I don't know. It might be just as chaotic to have some users using the reputation system, while some others are not.

@g-money: Since your donate a rep thread got lucked (finally), I just decided to post my sentiments here with regards to your outstanding plea. Know that I agree with most of what you said that I simply had to -rep you in showing my all out support for such a great cause you've presented to us both old and new cocksuckers alike. 8)
PS: Just to add, I'm in favor of getting rid of the rep system.

Possibly. Might screw up the entire system of how everyone accumulated reps, but I admit that is just being shallow.

@HermitVI: I locked it myself since it seemed discussion was coming to a close. The only real rep that should've been earned would be the rep earned on other posts that were intelligent and based on the issue of rep. I also don't want to seem like I'm advertising my own thread, but the relation to this thread is too close.
For every other person not involved in this thread, I beg everyone else to read it and come away with something from it: https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=27625

Yeah, I was losing rep every day before Jacob changed it...now it's just every other day. It's clearly the same person as it's only happening on the same post that wasn't offensive to anyone until apparently weeks after I made it. Currently I just have to deal with it and hope people like what I have to say just to maintain a balance, which in my mind kills the whole point of having a rep system.Jesus, you have -20 reps in one post. I have an idea who it could be, but I'm not calling any names out.
