If you are referring to the idea of the community setting the standard based on their reactions, yeah I get that. And I can agree with that line of thought, but that doesn't change the fact there aren't "official" standards when it comes to a person's posting rate.

I guess I should have included what you said when I mentioned common sense because I think those go hand-in-hand. I just wouldn't call those "community set standards" because to me standards are rules, but I guess that is up for interpretation as well.

Well in all honesty Tsurayu is quite right, I have every intention of slowing down.. I'm not going to be dedicating my life to daily post frequencies of 150+ a day to this forum. I have a certain amount of time during the week I can contribute to posting on forums in the hscene, and I'm just try being as efficient as possible with that time. Today was more of a kick start than anything else, to get my level of activity to a reasonable amount, it shows more than anything I am willing to put time into giving to the forum.

Yes, there aren't any official rules regarding that, but I never said there were. I believe what we were looking for were reasons for doing things in moderation.

While the rules might state "2-3 weeks" or whatever, I think it's typically more along the line of "whenever the majority of the forum gets tired of the topic" in practice.

That necrobump rule has been pretty much disregarded, as have half of the rules in the Rules List because it is so out-of-date and no staff member has gotten around to updating it and/or making a new one.

People just have to use common sense as to what rules may or may not apply anymore.

Telling the kids to ignore the mods...smart.

Getting back on topic and in my own opinion, necrobumping a thread is fine, as long as the user has something positive to contribute to the discussion. Examples of "something positive" include the member's own opinions on the matter, past experiences, relevant information, etc. Simple one liners such as "I agree", "I dislike this particular title", etc, should be avoided.

Even though some similar, or even identical, topics may be overlooked at times, I am sure the rest of the staff members will try to merge them as soon as they are discovered or noticed.

So basically I get this in a pm from GroverCleaveland just now:

"Fine, go around necrobumping everything with your inane contributions, but if you take your necro shit to the writing section and ruin it by bumping a ton of old threads, I will troll you for the entirety of your time on Fakku. The threads there are in no need of your "insight" and people work hard in their stories, and don't deserve to be bumped off of the front page just because you can't tell the difference between manners and spamming.

You are bumping a ton of dead threads.. i don't care, but yeah a lot of people are picky on the rules and manners of a civil and coherent thread forum. Just play nice and shit will smooth over or evolve into a flame fest... both are valid here.

-Threatened? I was being as pleasant as a warm summer breeze. I was trying to get you to understand that if you fuck up the writing section, there will be consequences. I may not have much power in the forum, but I can try my best to make you leave.

-Doing nothing wrong? I thought I spelled out pretty clearly why your spam was not acceptable in the writing section, but in case there was confusion, and my follow up PM didn't clarify, let me reiterate: The writing section is different than other sections, and all of the threads are very important to their posters, as they are submitting writing they have worked hard on (in most cases at least) for review and attention. You have no place to ruin that section by bumping people's work off of the front page, if you wan't some more explanation of it, read my sticky: "Writing Section Etiquette".

Are you telling me that these two rules are blatantly disregarded on the forum and don't hold any validity? The term "fag" / "faggot" is both an insult and discriminatory.

Exactly how many necrobumps are we talking about here? I assume it's alot since you've seem to have poured a great deal of sand in certain people's vaginas.

As other users have said, the rule list is pretty outdated. People will call each other fags, nothing is going to stop that short of making it a ban-worthy offense.

Furthermore, I don't use the term "fag" in a discriminatory sense. In other words, I'm not calling you gay. I do not associate the word fag with gays. Others may choose to do so. I, however, do not.

At the risk of repeating myself: Grow a thicker skin. People will insult you, people will challenge you, and people will look down on you. Get use to it, there's no rule that says we have to like you, nor is there a rule that says we have to be nice to you. There's a old saying that goes like this: if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
