Chat Topics & Forum Games

I am suggesting that it be re-integrated into the main IB forum.
I realise that a lot of people bitched to have it separated in the first place, but how much good can it be said to have done? The result I see:
- IB isn't as busy. Especially after recent events - it has lost some of the most active denizens - is this a good thing?
-- bad threads stay on the first page for longer and garner more attention - huge amounts of busy threads acted as a sort of quality control, imo
-- there's a split between the two crowds, chat & games being populated by 'spammers' and 'newfags' - surely IB is pretty much the same now but with less activity
- I know I never visit the Chat forum, but I did occasionally post in chat & game threads when they were all in the one place. Links in with the rift idea.
- The best, most attractive and most unifying content, special games like the Waifu game and Garfest, is again split up and floundering among essentially unrelated crap. You now have to have one dedicated chat topic and IB itself shares none of the fun. Site problems (esp. lack of sigs) have fucked these as well.
- For all the 'bad posters', there are actually a lot of decent users that practically live here. We notice the bad posts in IB more because less people are posting - this could to an extent be remedied, and the integration might make some of them post in regular IB topics. This influx of new users could also add more opinions and feedback that stuff like video threads doesn't currently receive.
I've purposefully avoided making a poll because I could see people rage voting before they'd read the post. Ok, a lot of people won't read it anyway, but I'd like to hear your thoughts regardless.

Didn't want you to consider those points anyway... :p
I still think it would help. Call me hopelessly nostalgic, but I do honestly feel like IB has gotten steadily worse since then.

Well, to be honest, I think the bigger problem has extended itself beyond the realm of IB and into the main forums itself. From what I've seen, there's quite a bit of one-liners, spam, wrong threads, etc. in the main forum sections.
Nowadays, I just notice a lot of trolling and nonsense in the IB except for the random thread or two that's actually good. However, that's why it's IB, for nonsensical stuff. Of course, that shouldn't deter people from making good threads.
Also another thing: no one listens to each other, i.e. nobody responds to each other's posts in an appropriate manner.

I wasn't here when IB split in two (was away for two months). When I came back... it was really different. And I was like "What happened here?".
It doesn't really bother me. I go in both section.

It will be chaotic if that happens. Was it really that chaotic before? Busy, perhaps.

Do not join them. Certain spammers will ruin a lot of the chat and game topics...We've always had spammers, and most would say that these threads are full of it anyway. I also can't imagine that these people would consistently post in every thread, and you'd get an influx of users who currently avoid that forum.
Honestly, I've yet to hear an actual argument against any of my points. It's just a lot of rage and rhetoric.

And from observance, people are still making threads in the IB section even though the chat/game topics have been moved to a subsection. I don't see a valid need to remerge the sections.

No, but it doesn't really address anything. It's neglecting the fact that IB had, for weeks, been not just slow but entirely troll posts and spam (one user replies to 10 threads + repeat). I hadn't seen that before.
Typically, this has changed within the last day or two. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place now, because I don't disagree with anything I wrote, but things suddenly seem better, if only temporarily. I still think that ending that segregation and keeping IB at a BBS speed would aid it, but some decent users have started posting again and there are some good topics. Ah well. :P
Ultimately I still preferred it how it was, but now it's a bit like the Nazis campaigning before the Depression. Sorry, I couldn't think of a less divisive analogy. :p

If IB was like before that thread would have been burried within hours, but thanks to all those game threads being moved, it had a couple of days on the first page of IB.

I hadn't seen that before.Sounds to me the problem is not about the segregation of subforum sections but a problem with the users, of which you can't change except through heavy moderating. You ought to take a look at the Special Interests forum; they barely receive half the activity that IB does, and IB's still the most active subforum regardless. Suggesting that chat/game topics be remerged would somehow stop or control trolling and spamming? (There's your rhetoric.)
Lazyasschillypepper also raises the point that in segregating IB, we don't see threads that are buried 6 feet under by chat/game threads, of which should be a good thing.

Ok ok, rhetoric was a bad choice of word. :P
What I meant was that IB is full of trolls, crude topics, rubbish videos etc. - everyone just competes to push the boundaries now - and chat isn't. There's a divide there. I think that it was better when all of the more 'wholesome' chat and game threads were mixed into the madcap vat of IB. All of the users posted in all of the topics, and it made it the bustling hub of the forums with a huge variety of topics, but sort of placated that edge at the same time.
Burying threads works both ways, too. If a thread is good, it will generally continue to be posted in and bumped up until it has served its purpose. That happens even now - my surreal video thread has nothing on your example lazy, of course, but it got no posts for a day and was then bumped and revived. Everything being busier made people go onto the second and even third pages of IB, something I haven't done in a while now.

See previous post: I personally feel like mixing the two together would placate the trolling and general douchebaggery...but that's just theory. And this obviously won't happen now anyway. :P

Not a good idea. IB is very tainted where people have nonsensical fun. Chat topics and games are pure and fun. The barrier will remain standing.
