[Locked] Disappearing Topics/Lock Threads/Dealing With IB

I wish to know what exciting and innovative IB existed in the past. At what point was it filled with creativity and thought invoking threads?

IB has always been shit, anyone who disagrees is simply looking through rose coloured glasses.

I'm not asking for creative and though provoking threads in IB, but what I don't want to look at are page after page after page of spam.

I also get tired of hearing deragatory names thrown at each other and have to remind myself it's IB and the mods won't do anything because "it's IB" so reporting it is pointless.

If you're going to be okay with everything because "it's IB" then threads shouldn't be deleted regardless unless it breaks an explicit rule, but apparently not all the rules are enforced so it doesn't matter anyway. Why follow some when you don't follow all? Might as well be a free for all kind of deal.

If you don't like what the section is, go to a different one. There is a reason we have so many, you know. IB for mindless drivel and spam.

I blame it on incredible lack of creativity. The threads drift in to nonsensical dribble because the only thing people can post are sarcastic comments (the lowest form of humor) and redundant memes (redundant redundancy is becoming to redundant).

Then why ask users opinion on something to do about IB, when all it's going to end up with what TMS said "deal with it"

We've been trying to fix the problem for the last two years. We've had numerous attempts by users like Nikon, Gambler and a few others try to gather ideas from the community and every single idea has been proposed and tried, failed miserably.

jake needs to realize that the users can't fix this problem. The users can't do anything to stop the trolls, flaming, etc. It's time for the mods to step in and do something. Since that isn't an option then there is nothing we can do. Thus there is no point in even talking about it.

it has nothing to do with our "mindset". We are limited by the rules set by the administration. The way we moderate now is how Jacob wants us to, it's the way he wants these sections run. I don't choose to let the spam/memes go or the racism fly; it's due to what I've been told was alright. This isn't about our lack of moderation, we want to act but simply cant. I have asked you to give me ideas rather than simply bitching about what can't be changed. as always, you exaggerate the problem. I agree IB is of much poorer quality than what it has been in the past but you always make things seem worse than they are. The spamming was dealt with pretty quickly and those involved were punished (perhaps not in the way you'd like us to but that is another issue). IB will always be the worst of the worst, and it's quality has always been a seesaw of good and wtfisthis. I would like to hear suggestions on how to fix it but I don't believe this will be our downfall as you seem to suggest.

I believe you seem to exaggerate my words rather than take them at face value. The spam was taken care of exactly how I would have expected. Though bans would be slightly longer if I was the one pulling the trigger but, that's personal preference. Like I said, we've tried this in the past numerous times and every idea that was tried, failed or was denied because it goes against jakes quaint ideas that less is more.
