FAKKU mascot/icon contest?

i'm unsure if this has already been suggested, but i think it's a fun idea.
maybe there could be a contest for a FAKKU mascot or icon sometime in the future.
i bet a lot of people are busy now, but it hopefully won't be too much of a hassle.
maybe when narrowed down the public could vote for the final character.
i think it would be a lot of fun for artists here and maybe get the site more recognized than it already is.

Haha, my word means nothing! You sound like you've given up; I never said it wasn't a fun idea, it's just in my nature to question the practical application. I would personally love to see various homegrown mascots fighting it out in a user vote. They could have backstories and everything...

I'm guessing popularity contest? My Japanese is veeeery sketchy, but that has connotations with popularity, at least.

I thought that hen has already become Fakku`s mascot......

Speaking of which, I'm still patiently awaiting mine from that second batch...they day I get to strut around town in that will be a glorious one indeed.

Anyway, he's not really deployed as a mascot; I suppose you'd need the guarantee that any competition winner would be regularly or prominently used. A competition would be great if you lot know there's the talent active on the forums to support it atm, I couldn't say.

Hm... it would need a talented artist.... though... it might be possible given quite a few otaku can draw... (not me....)

Fakku has it's own doujin and I've heard things about an artbook, plus I've seen a decent sketch or two around in my short time here...the talent is present, it just depends if the people are active and interested.

Also, sorry for taking practically every other post, lol.

No offense, but I think the picture in the "About" link at the very top is our FAKKU! mascot. I mean, you have a picture of our three admins being kickass. Nuff said.

anzu, Are you thinking along the lines of this? A mascot might be nice, maybe printed on merchandise so we can support our beloved Fakku.


I don't know if you're aware, but Motemote is the name of Fakku's annual female character popularity poll. Tensions grew high and threads were aflame in the last one. There were also prizes for those who had the most accurate poll bracket predictions.

Looking at your registration date, I think it occured before you registered, but I can't be sure because looking for it now, I can't seem to find much trace of it. Nor any mention of it in the Contests tab. Odd...

If Fakku gets a mascot i hope it will be a little more unique than that, nothing wrong with it, but it looks just like a million other characters out there.

Incidentally, there was this April Fool's joke which got a lot of people excited about the character.. pretty funny if you skim through the comments.
